Dunno about a second person, but the quest is easy enough, and it's a new one, so no one has it saved.Mania wrote:Seriously? Egad! That's ... unexpected.
Is this quest available to Horde and Alliance? (The Wowhead page doesn't say right now.)
Can you have someone else with the quest use their druid and then you tame the bird? (And I use bird advisedly.)

Hmm... I am wanting to park my hunter right where this chain starts, but I can not figure out where the initial Druid NPC is located.rackornar wrote:So I noticed this one was still marked as an unavailable skin but it is quite tameable.
You need the quest A Different Approach http://cata.wowhead.com/quest=26954. After you use the druid to pull them down it is as easy as pressing the Tame Beast key.
I am going to try and jump on the beta and have a look.
EDIT: The quest hub is just north of the crossroads in WPL. Pretty close to the hill in the screenshot the other poster posted.

Big <3 to Poearia for the assist, since my druid was kind of DUMB and attacking everything but the vultures dead eagles above. x_x
The questgiver of the prereq quest is a tauren woman named Adrine Towhide.

According to Poe elsewhere:
... so apparently, yes. You *can* get someone else to pull them down while you tame, if you somehow have done the quest.Poearia wrote:*edit* Added the Undead Hawk and on a great note an ally hunter was there cheering me on as i did it, then got another one summoned down so she could tame too! Re: Pet skins that are still untameable
Well, Poe still had her troll underling with her and still had to feign to get the bird off of her, so it would require a class with an aggro drop (or a non-clowny hunter who actually has distracting shot on a bar or something...*pokes self*).Kurasu wrote:According to Poe elsewhere:

Also, I have to say that the sounds of this bird are different than the normal birds of prey. They definitely sound dead. You can hear it in the squawks.

Cool. Glad someone confirmed those tameable. I never got around to trying. I'll remove it from the list. Thanks

Eee.....I might want one of the Undead birdies...I love that eagle model but none of the available colours.
Re: Pet skins that are still untameable
Does this quest chain start in the same place for llaince? If not, can anyone please tell where it starts at?
Re: Pet skins that are still untameable
Has someone created a proper thread for this discovery? If not, could you please create one so everyone will notice it?
Then all followup tips and discussion cancontinue there. Thanks

Added (untameable) the three sandreaver skins (under silithids, though not sure if they should be classed as that) and the raven critter model (if seagulls can be tameable then it's not impossible).

Re: Pet skins that are still untameable
Im not sure if anyone is really interested in this but My little lvl 63 hunter was able to tame the dreadtusk from the quest in hellfire. I was lvl 61 when I tamed it and I was worried that when I tamed it that it would go back to the hulking helboar after it was tamed but it didn't. Even after logging out for the night my helboar is still the dreadtusk color. I didn't want to wait till lvl 68 to go to shadowmoon for my helboar so I was very happy to be able to tame this guy. This is the helboar I'm refering to http://www.wow-petopia.com/look/felboarskinblack.html

This thread is specifically referring to a skin that isn't tameable anywhere.Aliania wrote:Im not sure if anyone is really interested in this but My little lvl 63 hunter was able to tame the dreadtusk from the quest in hellfire. What Veph said! But you *are* right that the Petopia page needs to be updated.Vephriel wrote:This thread is specifically referring to a skin that isn't tameable anywhere.Aliania wrote:Im not sure if anyone is really interested in this but My little lvl 63 hunter was able to tame the dreadtusk from the quest in hellfire. Re: Pet skins that are still untameable
OK, the list of untameable skins is getting smaller and we can't have that.
Just added:
- Silithid worker / ant skins, since they ARE silithids and one is a pet for some hunters because of that 4.0 transition quirk
- phoenixes (dark and regular) to birds of prey. While currently elementals, there's now a precedent for elementals being reclassed as beasts. They could easily fit as birds of prey, though it'd be cooler if they have their own family & special abilities (family ability, resurrection?
)
- both clefthooves and kodos to the rhino skins list. The former are most definitely a kind of Outland rhino. The latter share some similarities, and even if not genetically related would still belong in that family if tameable (not all the dogs or birds or prey are related either).

Re: Pet skins that are still untameable
No, there are no phoenixes tameable. Wain's adding them as untameable skins just in the off chance we may get a tameable mob in the future.
