Cool, well I'm hanging in the area for Savage and watching for some tracks. Another hunter I'm partied with is watching as well for the tracks

Barely-visible seems to be a silkworm, since we're not far from the farm. But who knows!

They seem to have short-ish timers, SB, but then again, this is beta.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind them having short timers for once.

Make the challenge FINDING the pet/tracks, not waiting it out for hours.

But still, how are the tracks found? XD Considering popping on beta to help look, (even though I'm only 86 since I refuse to quest in Pandaria til launch), but I'm hearing multiple things.

Heard you always see them, heard you need to use flare, heard you need to use track hidden.

Edit: You spot the tracks with your eyes, but then you try and figure out where to flare based on the direction of the tracks etc.

Track hidden is the only one I can't verify, but the others, yes. I detailed how I found Stompy back in my initial post. ^^

The only ones left on that are Crane. There is no Silkworm.

Portent seems to be quite the chameleon! If I remember rightly I think that name has been in the database since Cata and we originally guessed it'd be a rare furry Corehound (Portent = Omen )

I'm really loving this idea. I remember the discussions on Cata rares and griefing / chance and how people hoped for a hands-on system where people could hunt their special rare. Noah has really gone out of his way to make that a reality. It must have taken quite a bit of work to implement right. It seems to be working well and hopefully it'll be used again in the future.

Portent, you changed colors on me. I followed the tracks hoping for the cobalt quilen but instead found a jade adorned Portent.

@Myzou - You're on Proudmoore? One of my guildies has some alts there, IDK if he has a hunter but I can ask him if he has hunter guildies that would help you out once the expansion goes live?
@PorrasouxRex - If we started counting all the tamable models that have recolors, we'd be sitting here a very long time. Missing colors SHOULD be exciting, because the color alone is enough to make it unique. We've been very spoiled by unique models, I fear.

Looks like, in the end they are like any rare really.
Savage spawned up in the location presumed despite following tracks.
A hunter camped there and got it.
