I wonder if the Fox will be a part of the wolf family? It uses the same skeleton as some wolves, it is a canine, and it would probably be a little too far-fetched for a Hyena. I really, really hope it is tameable... foxes are adorable. <3

Actually, now that I look at the picture you gave for the fox, I noticed something...

When your mouse hovers over a critter, the little box that appears in the bottom right corner states that it is a critter. Example. However, in the picture Nikkrosnil provided, the little black box does not state that the fox is a critter.
/Hope rising!

This is about the fifth thread to talk about pets in Cataclysm. My first one is long forgotton it seems, buried within the back now. Oh well.

I'm still hoping for them lava turtles, as exotic pets, with some fancy aggro holding skill. Consecrate or a thorns type mechanic ability.

Dog
Fox
Stags
Hedgehog

...and they should all be cubs and fawns, etc and should "grow" with you as you level.

Oooooo I like that idea!
Something like a pulsing heat, that radiates from its body, or a molten lava spill on the ground like a flame strike, that ticks every couple of seconds, or, or....
Or i could stop getting too excited as well ;)

Foxes shouldn't be int eh same family as wolves, they are not canines for starters. That aside, the wolf family is pretty crowded as is, it doesn't really need any new models thrown into it. Plus a fox would fit into the cunning tree better than the ferocity one (assuming blizz doesn't futz around with those)

There's plenty of fox varieties to warrant their own family too,

Come to think of it I bet Hydra's will become tameable. I could be wrong, but there are some strong indications it might happen.

Cataclysm will mean lots of new water areas and a hydra could easily be a tameable mob in one that doesn't look odd out of water.

The croc-hydralisks have a feeding animation and Blizzard doesn't seem to be too angry people have those pets.

There are already many different skins for this creature in game.

Well, technically I'm pretty sure the feeding animation is just one of the regular attack or hit animations that all creatures normally have. They're probably just programmed to do that with feeding now, and it's not something like Blizzard created a feeding animation especially for the hydras.

I'd still love to see them as a pet though. :)

It's the attack animation. My ravager looks really funny when he eats...

Erm... actually, yes they are canines.

I do agree that they would fit the cunning tree better, though.

The Cataclysm web page shows some new lookin dinos. Will be nice to see some more variety, plus I'm a big dinosaur nerd.

For the monkey. It should has a special attack call "Slipping Attack": Throw a banana peel at enemy and cause [RAP * 0.4 + pet level] slip damage.

This link doesn't quite show the new families of tameable pets, but it does show the starter pets for each Hunter of every race. Also, it shows the Worgen accompanied with a Mastiff, so I'm guessing that the Mastiffs will be available. Oh, and I completely agree with the creator of this thread - Ever since I saw the Fox model, I was thinking, "Oh, please let that be a pet! Please let that be a pet!" =P I really hope it is, anyhow. I hope the video helps, and that it isn't too off-topic.
