I had personally planned to make a blood elf hunter couple (a bit cliche, i know), one having all white pets, the other all black. this means a child would have to be blood elf as well and I just dont want that many blood elf hunters lol

I may make Rendir or Salaina another race. I already have Rendir to lvl 10 so probably change Salaina.

I haven't given them backstory yet. Curious, have you written any story or anything for yours? It seems so, i mean Bastienne was named after her grandfather, I imagine theres some story there.

Oh my gosh, having a couple with black and white pets would be so awesome. I do love blood elves (and hunters!) so the more the merrier, I think, but swapping races might be fun too :D Bastienne is technically half-human/worgen, but I chose a blood elf to represent her; in my mind, her build isn't quite so lithe and her ears are only about half of a normal elf's length, but in-game it's a fine enough representation. I've discovered over the past couple of days that it is SO much fun to play your characters' child. It adds an entirely new element to the game that, in my opinion, keeps everything fresh and exciting.

I do have a ridiculous amount of backstory written both for Bastienne and the rest of my characters :D I plan on actually writing some soon, but right now it's all just floating around in my mind. To summarize quickly and hopefully without boring you too badly:

The original Bastien Dawntreader, Constantyne's father and Bastienne's grandfather, was a great war mage of Quel'thalas.

When the Lich King and his undead army invaded his beloved land, Bastien fought valiantly amongst his brethren but quickly saw that they were losing the fight. He turned away from the battle and fought his way through legions of the Scourge back to his home in Silvermoon, where his wife Anmarie and their son Constantyne lay cowering. Already severely wounded and with legions of undead ghouls upon his heels, Bastien used all of his strength to conjure an escape portal leading to Dalaran and forced his wife and son through it. As the portal closed, Constantyne heard his father screaming in agony and the echoing laughter of the Lich King himself. He and his mother returned to the ruins of Silvermoon to find nothing left of Bastien but the necklace he constantly wore beneath his armor, a heavy gold locket containing pictures of his wife and son. It's a prized possession that Constantyne keeps with him always.

Losing his dad is what drove Constantyne to serve alongside the Horde - he was empowered by his intense hatred of the Lich King, the Scourge, and all things undead. Bastien was absolutely everything to his son, and that's why Const named his first child after him :)

Aha thats very nice. I haven't written anything yet either, I have a lot in my mind for these characters, as well as other characters. I need to come up with some story. Not force it, but give these characters life.

Like I mentioned, I was going to do one with white pets, the other black, and I was going to have a couple pairs. They would have some unique, like Solaina would have a black devilsaur, but Rendir wouldnt have one. Rendir would have the white chimeras, Solaina would not have one (no black one, for one thing).

But some of the pairs I was thinking of were:

Rendir - Solaina

I am doing the white pets first. I got the white turtle and spider from ghostlands, white worg and tallstrider from mulgore, and white maned lion from northern barrens, and white fox from Gilneas. LupisDarkmoon's pet list by color helps tremendously, such an amazing piece of work.

I am torn about the bears, I just don't know how well they mesh with blood elves for my taste. I don't know, I will have to check it out. I am heading to Loch Modan for Lord condor later, I may swing by and pick up a bear just to feel it out.

While I will be filling up their stables, I want to keep the "main" pets down to 2-4, with one of those being the iconic pet for the character. Not sure about the white pets, but the black spider is a strong contender for the iconic black pet. I am holding off to see how the pets "feel" with the toons before I make the decision though.

And I have really considered giving the child gray pets lol, at least a few to make the models of the parents. I want the child to have its own theme though, even if that theme is to have no theme at all (as most teenagers feel like they have to do their own thing). Maybe a punk/emo pet phase for the child? Black and purple pets lol

LOL... that would be amazing! Maybe some really intense, scary looking pets?

And I know what you mean about making sure the pets feel right with your hunter. I've tamed many pets with Constantyne that I thought looked so cool, that I would love, but then they just never meshed right with him. I definitely am an advocate for test drives.

Does he have an "iconic" pet? I noticed you named a wolf Whitnee, I thought maybe that was it.

Yup, thats exactly her! :D He has a black worg named after his worgen love. Since he and the worgen Whitnee are separated by faction so often, he sees his wolf as a way to keep her with him always. He's got many other pets, but it is Whitney who is by his side all of the time.

I think Bastienne is going to have a white wolf, herself - following in family tradition and still staying within her girly theme :)

Nice. With Salaina, I considered having the black widow be her icon pet. Not because I am portraying her as a evil or dark female character. I was thinking more of how powerful and calculating the widow represents, and icon of strength, deadly if need be, but a constrained power.

My biggest fear, though, is being cliche.

I don't think that's cliche at all! I think black widows represent a dangerous beauty - look at it from afar, but don't hurt it unless you want some serious butt kicking handed to you. And I don't see many black widows used in game, at least not on my server. I think it's a great choice.

I've only been playing her a few days, but Bastienne's already inspired a story... I posted it in the fan art and creative writing forums :) http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12188

I really hope you dont mind that I derailed your thread with all these questions xD I am really fascinated by all this, and you are doing what I want to do (the story and characters) and you do it well, so I am compelled to ask questions, hopefully learn from someone who is better at it than I.

I noticed something in your story, you mentioned him grabbing his bow, and it made me wonder... have you given your characters an iconic weapon or armor? We talked about pets, but I am wondering if he has a special bow or armor or anything? I downloaded the wow model viewer trying to build the perfect look for my toons, and I am wondering if you have anything like this in game or whatever.

Oh no, I don't mind in the least!!! I'm absolutely flattered that you think I am so good at this :) I by no means consider myself any sort of expert, but I am more than happy to give my opinions and hope they help. I've been trying to ponder some sort of theme for some rebellious, intimidating-looking pets for your characters' child :D When I'm not at work (naughty me!) I will post the ideas I have so far. I've only been doing pet themes for not even a week now but I have just fallen in love with the challenge and creativity!

Sadly, I actually don't have any sort of iconic weapon for Constantyne :( I do picture him with a bow - guns are great, and he has one in-game right now, but bows just seem to suit him better. He doesn't have any sort of iconic armor, either, though I always envision him dressed with something that shows some sin'dorei pride. I've got the model viewer, too, but I haven't played with it much. Now you've got me wanting to try it out and play with different looks.

I didnt consider having themed hunters till I came to these forums. When I first came, I believe it was Taluwen's alt hunter Jessibelle was the first time I really saw someone with an alt of a class they already had, I thought it was crazy. Now I have... 6 hunters lol

My main is a troll Hunter Quivering, she is my main character and has my favorite pets on it, like Sambas, Krush, Loque etc, as well as the raid pets I need for buffs. No real theme other than "favorite pets/skins"

My second was Jozeff, my worgen, and I when I made him, I purposely decided to tame pet families that I didnt like, such as crabs and Gondria, just to get out of my comfort zone. However I ended up with a couple of pet pairs, like a pink and gray scorpion named Noah and Noel, a black and white windserpent named Natalia and Nathanial, and a black and white wasp named Shade and Glare. this is where the idea of having 2 hunters in a romance with the black and white theme was born.

So now I have Rendir and Salaina with the black and white theme, a future child with the punk/rebel themed pets. I also have a night elf who I am going to do blue and green pets with but thats on the cuff. Cant do all these at the same time lol. Color themes are great, but im looking into other themes as well, such as a bug hunter.

I love the idea of pet pairs, but most of all I love that it spawned the idea of Rendir and Salaina's matching pets :) Do you know if you are going to go with a male or female child for them yet? Regardless, here are some pets I think might suit their stable:

This is like... the anti-Bastienne collection  I like the idea of having a bug hunter, too - Constantyne nearly had nothing but wolves, but there were too many other pets I loved as well. Maybe that's another future child ;)

I couldnt decide gender or race for the child. I went back and forth. I decided Salaina will be a human, so it what I ended up doing was flipping a coin twice and let fate decide. First flip determined gender, second flip determined race (blood or human). I figure since in real life we cant control the traits of our children, I would let fate control mine. Well as fate would have it, they will be having a female blood elf. Shes still future but I am going to stick with that.

But yeah those are some great ideas for pets, good thing I have 25 stable slots! Some of the ones I was also considering were:

ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Since she is a girl, I decided to throw in some purple/blue such as the moth. The two biggies for the child will be ravagers and those two wasps. They stand out the most to me, as representatives of the child. Salaina's icon will be the widow, but the child's will be those 2 wasps. They fit her theme, but also tie in with the mother (spider > wasp). I *think* i am going to portray her as having a bad relationship with her mother early on simply because underneath it all, she is so much like her mother. Strong willed, beautiful and deadly, independent. If I may be so coarse with my language, I have a feeling she is going to be quite the bitch in her teenage years, at least for a time.

Yikes this is fun!

I just levelled Salaina to 10, human hunter, and I found those black widows in a cave in Elwynn, didnt know they were there :D Pretty cool confirmation.

After taming, they look a lot better together than I had even imagined.

Oh my gosh, I love that you flipped a coin to decide! You’re right; we can’t decide in real life. I wish I had been so creative with Bastienne! I just always pictured a daughter first for Constantyne and Whitnee, and although I debated between a blood elf or a human (not really a worgen, since I don’t know if that would genetically pass or not) I went with a blood elf so that she would be an even bigger nod to her grandpa. It’s why she has the dark hair, too!

I love the ideas you have so far for her pets! Ravagers definitely suit her very, very well. I like the idea of her relationship with Salaina’s being tough – especially since they are so close in personality, and everything can’t always be peachy keen. I’m not sure how close Bastienne is to her mom, either, but it’s more because she is just such a daddy’s girl  And it IS so much fun. If I’m not careful I will be planning for another child soon, too!

Oh my gosh, the black widow fits Salaina SO well! I love it! Congrats on level 10 :D Bastienne hit level 31 last night, and now she is desperately trying to find what I have been imagining to be an iconic pet of hers – Snort the Heckler, the hyena.

Good luck getting Snort, his new spawn point seems to be a little heavy on leveler traffic. May I ask why you picked Snort? I understand the purple, but the hyena family. Nevertheless, they should look great together!

I hate how slow levelling is when I want to have them both high level so I can get all my pets on my list. Even full heirloom (well minus helm), guild perks and all its still to slow to get these to higher level.

I got the list of the pets I want for both Rendir and Salaina but I find myself lacking names. I have a terrible habit of just waiting around till the perfect name hits.

I still have to pick a pet for Rendir. Oh well, I dont wanna rush these things, I got lots of levelling to do, plenty of time to sort out those details.

*Edit* OH I did come to one conclusion. At first I was hesitant about bears for these two, but after I got the white bear on Rendir and black on Salaina, I decided these will be "house bears," guarding their home. These bears will have a cub, who will be the child's pet, and will be the gray bear skin, and will grow up beside the daughter. While the wasps will probably be iconic of her rebellion, the gray bear will be the icon of her childhood and where she came from. Not sure how all that will play out, but I think I will be doing that.
