Re: Most powerful pet?
Don't forget the crockolisk! They are pretty powerful and can move fast when needed xD Going into the real life, ever see what happens to an animal after its been rolled? D: I don't think I would want to tangle with one for sure.
Spirit beasts I would rank real high do to them being what they are.
Realistically most tameable mobs are pretty powerful in the own right though.

Re: Most powerful pet?
Do you remember that venomoth in pokemon, that would always use a mixture of poison, sleep, and stun powder to rip apart your party? You do?
Enter the sporebat. The WoW equivalent of that venomoth.

Re: Most powerful pet?
Hydra- Large, vicious, probably very easily defencable (It's big and covered in scales, so I could see it having good defencive abilities. Not to mention three heads makes sneak attacks damn near imbossible..) and would YOU like to try and block three heads attacking you at once? I wouldn't.
Boss Silithid- I honestly think these guys are smarter than let on, considering the massive brain, and all that. So he'd probably make a good fighter. Not to mention the shell, the claws, and spitting venoumous webs.
Rhino- If anything can take a pissed off rhino horn to the gut and get back up, it deserves to be worshipped. Seriously, you mentioned THROWING a warrior? The horn would probably pierce through the armor (Or leave on HELLUVA dent, which would probably impale the warrior anyway, come to think of it..). Not to mention stomping, and a relatively fast movement speed. (STAMPEDE!) And thick skin, so yes, I'd say the rhino would win a solo battle with most pets.

Thanks to Vephriel for this awsome sig
"One day, this Hydra WILL be mine! I hope"- Me, before hydras were tameable.

Re: Most powerful pet?
I like how people are saying Loque like his mate, an actual, legit god instead of someone who rides on the coattails of one - *stares at the aforementioned spirit beast* - didn't have to be saved from impending death by a passing hero. I'd rather put my money on something that has proven itself capable of battle than a lazy cat who wasn't there to aid his mate and has his victories justified by "well he's the mate of a god"! We have killed gods with fairly little effort, remember. ;)
It's hard to say, honestly, because a lot of them would do quite a bit of damage. The bite force on a hyena is insane, but the sheer size of the Devilsaurs in Un'goro is just as intimidating. You'd be more likely to get stepped on than bitten. Bears, wolves, lions, any of those are deadly to humans. Are we talking 'most powerful versus humans' or 'most powerful versus eachother'?
I think one people are forgetting is boars. Wild boars are crazy. I'd rather have a fistfight with Skoll than run into a bunch of wild boars. At least with Skoll my death would be quick.
That said, if it were an all-out free-for-all I would imagine size would hold a definite advantage. Devilsaurs, the Ravasaur variations of the raptors, rhinos and the like would probably be my best guess - the other pets don't generally - with the exception of a few - possess the ability to think up a cunning plan to trip the dinosaur or whatever. Numbers, too, would have an advantage - a pack of raptors, say.
I am inclined to say that Devilsaurs would be my best guess if I had to pick one, simply because of sheer size. Step on everything you can, chomp down on what you can't.

Re: Most powerful pet?
Looking at what Nub has said, I have a pet that can't beat that all.
The unknown, unloved Gondria. Look at her qualities:
-Ghost. (That means she's untouchable by physical means, in roleplaying standards.)
-Heal (This is self explanatory.)
-Has the cunning/grace/viciousness of the cat (Yay)
-Going by previous talents, she has magical abilities as well. (Old Moonifire.)
-Stealth (Because who doesn't love sneak attacks.)
She can't be stomped, bitten, chewed, etc. Rhino can't touch her. Assuming one does inflict pain of her (I could see any non-physical beast attack doing it.) She has a heal to take care of herself. She can launch beautiful sneak attacks, being a spectral feline.
Now, before you argue Arc or Ghost, they're a bear and a crab. The first is rather slow, the second is quick, but doesn't have the savage instinct she does.
