My list of courtesies that I follow;
>If I see someone sitting anxiously at a spawn point, I'll stick around and chat.
>If it spawns during this time, it's theirs. They were there first, and I'll help if needed.
>If they're only after one of two or more, and the other spawns, I'll ask for dibs. If it's one I'm after, I'll say it beforehand during the chat in step 1.
>If neither of us want what spawns, I'll announce in /1.
My list of NO YOU DIDN'T moments;
>I'm trying to tame, and a guy waits for me to die instead of helps me. When I die, he takes the tame for himself. A big F YOU to anyone who does this, you should help the one who's trying, not steal it from them.
>Someone mid tame, another waltzes on up and steals aggro in bulk, then tames. Never acceptable. NEVER.
>Being rude to the person who fairly tamed it before you. If either of the two above occurred, then it's fine to call them names. After all, being a douche is being a douche.

No, if no one was there you're fine. It's rude to tell someone they're 'hogging' the rares. Granted, I think it's rude to tame multiples of the same new one but.
Also, I tend to be careful helping people tame. Someone could perceive it as griefing or trying to steal their tame.

Re: Common Courtesy?
I'll just comment on the helping of taming too though.. some people WANT to try and do it themselves... Afterall.. a challenge tame of getting Solix if you have 5 people helping slow... Or Taming Deth if you have half a raid's worth of people eating his health isn't much of a challenge. Also.. I'd probably sit and watch as well. More so because it's supposed to be a challenge. If someone were to specifically ask me for help, I might.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think "omg they're special, only the worthy can have it!" exactly.. but that is still kind of the point. I feel SOO proud of the fact that I got Skarr completely solo, and Solix I did solo as well, even though my first, failed attempt, someone was helping me. I would have been happy with just getting them if Ihad help... but doing it on my own makes me more so.
To be honest, I don't camp much, so I haven't encountered many situations where this would come up for either side. I do agree with the afk-ing thing though. I mean.. Yeah.. I'd be kind of sad if something spawned while I was in the bathroom
But, I'd understand it. I'd say the polite thing to do in that case would be to send a whisper (or mail would be better, as whispers can get lost if they are afk) saying "sorry you missed it, but you were afk and wasn't sure when you were coming back. I tamed it at ______" so they'd know when the next spawn might be around.
But yeah... Common sense and kindergarten manners I think is enough. If someone has it first, let them play first. If they're done (ie.. die..), then it beomes first come first serve.

Re: Common Courtesy?
Well that and with the new challenge rares, it can be impossible to help on some. How do I help a random someone who gets 2 shotted from Magria or Skarr? bandage aint gonna do nothing against that, and in the case of skarr, if im close enough to help, im close enough to get blown up to xD

Re: Common Courtesy?
Yeah not with you on the helping part - you want it, you tame it. No one owes you an assist - what they owe you is to respect that you were there first by letting you have your turn and not getting in your way. Anything beyond that is gravy.Kikanu wrote:My list of courtesies that I follow;

I do agree on # 2 and 3 though.
