It does indeed. It can die and be revived with no changes.

Fantastic! I was hoping they'd release a Fire Raptor as one of the 4.2 taming challenge pets (to match Terrorpene). I suppose this will suffice. Now we can do Firelands in our Flamewaker's Battlegear with our Flamebreaker title and our Fire pet!

Basically, yup. The seed timing might take a couple tries to get right, but it's easy.

I was considering a raptor but didn't like the skins, so this is the perfect compromise. I'm sure these will get hotfixed asap, but for now, I'm mightly amused by my new carpet of fire.

Just nailed this. Everything about it seems ok aside from not being able to click target it. I REALLY hope people don't bring this into pvp and ruin it, as that is the only situation i could see this being an "exploit".

Too bad the fire doesn't sound like a tallstrider/raptor. That would make this even more hilarious.

My guildie that helped me tame these wants me to name one "FirePatch" or similar to scare people in raids with it because they will be standing in fire.

I queued up for a random dungeon earlier with Calcifer, and I actually did notice people avoiding my pet since they thought it was an AoE effect. Also the tank at the beginning said "Your pet looks like fire on the ground." to which I replied "Yeah, sorry 'bout that. Had a nasty run in with Deathwing. Hasn't quite been the same since."

It might be hotfixed. I tamed mine, and a friend got one too, but our third and fourth guys have been getting this:

Raptor/Bird corpse, not a fire patch

A hotfix would require a server restart though, wouldn't it? The realms have definitely not gone down since I tamed mine, I've been online this entire time.

Nope, I've had "tricks" hotfixed while I was in the middle of doing them before, such as the Blackrock Depths rep farming trick. Suddenly stopped working mid "trick", and bam; no more rep gains.

It's POSSIBLE that the Fire Pet will be the new Slime (makes no sense but they didn't take it away), though very improbable in my opinion.

What worries me, as I've been helping people with this tame all day, is the fact that this quest creates an easy source of damage glitched pets. Besides the 'plainifier' effect the seeds have, there is also an Enrage buff with no timer. I'm sure it would disappear upon death, but it is a very easy way to get damage buffed pets. I would recommend Blizzard made these mobs untameable altogether.

It is, as of 6:21 p.m. PST Aug 18th, not hotfixed. I also had that problem, it is simply a timing issue or a glitch. We abandoned it and pressed on. I've done it oh, 8 times or so today with random hunters.

The enrage buff does disappear when the pet dies. Just tested it.

Named my fire Abaesik (after Abaesik Kampfyre, who should have been Warchief of the Horde). <3 Totally love him and everyone who notices him gets a total kick out of it xD

I tamed one, and named it Fire (for now)
I'm hoping they make it clickable, but due to the fact that it's 100% particle effect...
They'd have to make it have a model, but doing so will also effect the quest...
They could either make a very transparent or completely transparent blob to click on, or, perhaps even give it the campfire model for increased lols.

Haha, this is kind of neat. xD I'd be tempted to get one and name it Calcifer, but I don't have the spare stable slots, and this seems like one aesthetic pet that will be fixed rather soon. Still, it seems fun while it lasts. I might end up trying one just for kicks and giggles.
