Wassa, I can't help but think that Tallstriders aren't based completely off of any bird. They look a lot like Cassowaries, ostriches and Emus, but their skins say little about that. After all, they have a skin that is based off of a Cassowary, but they also have one based off a flamingo, which is very much different. And then they have one based off the colors of an Emu.

Of course I don't base tallstriders off of any one bird. They certainly are a mix of different ratite species, and possibly flamingos and chickens, and diffidently some terror bird in them.

I very much dislike the new run... I still love Spazzranache but I have trouble using him than I used to. >.< Ratites don't run like road runners... and the new run is a road runner run, not a ratite run. >.<

I guess you could say the old run was derpy (which I think is adorable, I love derpy things), but I actually saw it more as graceful-like. XD The run was just so smooth looking, and you could see every step with hardly any blur, even at mount speed. Now this new one is all rushed and blury-fast and makes me eyes hurt. Please Blizzard, give us the old run back...

It's based off a Terror Bird (or Phorusrhacidae)

To tell the truth Tallstriders look more like Roadrunners than ostriches

Had Tepui out yesterday for the first time since the patch. It...definitely takes some getting used to, but I think I'm going to end up liking it better than the original animation.

This was my comment from PTR and it still holds true for me:

"[The new stance is] thankfully not quite as bad as I feared, but IMO it's definitely less graceful now than when it ran with its head held high. I don't think the old stance looked "derpy", the new one definitely is more "derpy" to me because it looks like it'll fall over, it's leaning down that much. And its even more bizarre on the pet because it goes from standing position to full sprint with no transition. I tried making it walk and it would walk a few paces with the hed up and then go into the full head down sprint position. Also from behind, on the pet (and I was riding a hawkstrider for comparison) the neck and head swings from side to side in a wobbly manner as it runs. Because hawkstriders have bigger wings (and your toon in the way as you ride) you don't see that, but with nothing but their naked little necks in full view, it's just swaying.

If I had to sum it up I'd say it looks like the head is being pulled by an invisible rope and the strider is running forward in a desperate attempt to keep up so it doesn't crash to the ground."

Long story short, I liked the old stance better. But I've learned to live with how it is now because I doubt it's something that'll get reverted back.

I actually really like the new animation. I did not like it at first but it grew on me. I think part of the reason for the change might have been because of the addition of the cranes. They looks to me like they use a modified tallstrider base. It would be a bit odd looking for a crane to run with its neck up like the old tallstrider did.

It reminds me of what they did with the hyena when they gave it the wolf run animation.
