For soloing Cata instances, I use a turtle (Terrorpene) for shell shield. The Tenacity family has some or my favorite models, so my stable is overflowing with them. I swap out my warpstalker, croc, rhino, worm and scorpid to run around with doing dailies or soloing Wrath heroics.

I stand by my Asche (Terrorpene) Has tanked in dungeons, and raids for me. Just something about a fire turtle that screams, hey, I can take it,.

I'm personally a fan of my White Scarab Beetle from AQ Ruins (though I believe the lowest level beetle you can get is around level 36?). Harden Carapace ups his armor by 50% for 12sec and he is specced for thunderstomp, plus growl so he is good to go. He holds out very well when I solo dungeons only about 3-5 levels below me as long as I have mend pet on. I don't even have to switch to BM most of the time.
