Re: Priests/Boomkins/Warlocks Are Losing DoTs
I seem to perform best with Destro, Demo being a close second. But yes, for us average players they are even. But when it comes to number crunchers.....that gets more hairy.

Well I don't think this is true for everyone, player skill is also considered, Demo is really good at single target. And the only aoe fight in DS is Madness. For the bloods, maybe Yorsaj (during black ooze phase)Jessibelle wrote:Demo actually isnt top on Single target, Tyger. Even ElitistJerks says Destro is top on single target(Afflic comes REALLY close but is off by a smidge). Demo is only top when its multiple targets, even surpasses Afflic, or near perfect single target conditions(which is almost never. Ultraxion is MAYBE the only one or Morchok as of current tier. The rest of the fights require too much movement).
Elitist Jerks wrote:With the release of Patch 4.3 the warlock class sees a number of changes, in particular the Destruction spec, along with a few changes to the Demonology spec. Following these changes we see that all 3 specs are quite close, and all have something to bring to the table. For single target DPS, the following should be true at all gear levels:
Demonology > Destruction >= Affliction
While Demonology does pull ahead in single target DPS by ~2k DPS, this is only in close to perfect conditions where there is minimal to no movement and the player is able to stand in melee range. This means that in most situations Destruction and Affliction will perform better than Demonology.
On multi-target fights with strictly 2 DPS targets Affliction and Destruction should be quite even. However once any additional targets are introduced Affliction will perform considerably better than Destruction. Heavy AoE fights are where Demonology really begins to shine, followed respectably by Affliction and then Destruction behind by a considerable margin.
I ran a simcraft on both specs, equal gear and on a burn single target fight. (Patchwerk like fight)
Demo lock pulled 44094 dps.
Destro lock pulled 44054 dps.
Demo and destro perform almost exactly the same amount of dps.

Not for everyone....but number crunching wise, it seems true enough, taking into account raid buffs as well(unless you did do that. If so then you probably just proved EJ wrong). But thats just what EJ says. It's funny cause people keep telling me Afflic is best and I'm like "uh....no...not really....only on some fights is afflic really good."
I'll admit...I hate Afflic. XD Too much to keep track of.

Well as far as i've seen afflic isnt really that good. And as far as the raid buffs i used all available raid buffs for both, so they had the same of everything.

Destros dps was 41610

LOL! Yet still they had differing numbers. Thats funny. Does the sims take into account proper gemming/enchanting and procs?
I've seen Afflic top the charts before but its only on certain fights, like Spine of Deathwing and Madness.

Simcraft accounts for everything. It's just like using FemaleDwarf, but for like any class.

Ah okay. Interesting...guess you did prove EJ isn't always correct on what they say.
