Well, crap. I now have Magria.

Okay, so I parked Rhyela in Hyjal after creating and submitting my ticket to have ye olde Shikon restored (still no word on that). I logged on tonight, casually started flapping about, then noticed two yellow dots on my map pretty close together. "Hmm," I thought, "Obsidian nodes don't usually spawn that close together, do they?" As I moused over the dots, one of them caught my attention - Magria. "Yay! I finally saw one of them!"

I was hovering in the air above it, then decided to go down for a closer look. At about that time, a stupid flame NPC aggroed and started smacking me, so I flew back up. I then noticed a troll hunter in the air with me. I wanted Ankha, so I emoted /nod at him to try to tell him he could have it. No response.

I followed Magria along his or her path, and actually lost it at one point and panicked a little. I found him putzing around quite far away. I got down off my mount and snapped a couple screen shots of him. I then got back on my mount and proceeded to keep following him. I don't really know why, it wasn't the color I wanted at all. I mean, like, THE last color of the spirit cats that I would have chosen. Anyway, I was also kind of curious to see what the troll was doing. He just kept following it, like I was. I inspected him to see what his spec was, but it only showed his active spec which was SV I think.

I emoted again, /talkq to question what he was doing. Still no response. Finally, after following Magria a few more paces, I landed, abandoned Surge (my silithid) again - poor guy (I can get him back, I am not that bonded to him) - and tamed Magria (barely, I only had about 1k HP left at the end). >.>

So, here I was with this horridly blue kitty following me around. I was going to try to think of a name from Inu Yasha to try to keep the theme going, but then.....well, I guess his blue isn't quite as teal as I had thought it was. And.....it's really not that ugly like I thought at first, either. Okay, well, I guess I'll hang on to him for a little wh-- HEY! His color reminds me of my new kitty's eyes! And so, Magria became Skye, and now...crap, I kinda like him. And he's definitely a masculine blue him.

He doesn't match me at all. Not even in the slightest. I have zero blue transmog gear. Shikon doesn't really match me either, but at least she's one of my favorite colors - purple - and I like how purple and green look together. Then I'm all, "Bah, a blue spirit beast?" But then I pulled out Shiranui, my Karoma, and mentally slapped myself because I already have a blue spirit beast, so obviously it's not so horrible! Shiranui doesn't match me either, but I love him!

Blah. Blah, I say! I still don't know if I'll keep Skye permanently (the in-game, not the RL one of course). I don't want so many spirit beasts! x_x But, still, I see no reason to make a decision now when MoP is still a good deal away. I guess I'll keep all three for now and try to decide later. *sigh* I'd still like to try out Ankha. XD I just need to be very careful when abandoning pets from now on, and make sure I'm absolutely certain. I have such a hard time re-bonding with pets I've abandoned and then tamed later.

Edit: Almost completely forgot to mention that afterwards, I created and logged on a horde toon. I apologized to the troll for taking the tame, but told him I didn't know what he was doing. He was actually waiting for a friend to come tame it. >.< I felt really bad after that (especially because it wasn't even one I really wanted). I suppose I should have assumed that's what was going on, but in the back of my mind I always panic a little when a rare is left up too long because I'm afraid some boob is going to swoop down and kill it. He said no problem, he sees these two all the time. >.> I never see them! Ever! This is the first time! I told him if I ever see one of them again, I'll try to log over and let him know. He thanked me for saying anything at all, and promised again that it was no big deal. I still felt bad, like some blue kitty thief. :(

(Martin somehow looks excited to see Magria, too!)

Don't have any pics but then again I think you need to have uploaded the pics to some website to be able to use them anyways.

But was in DW tonite we kept dying but I decided I would use ban'thalos (spira) as my pet because his beautiful and other reasons but anyways we died like 6 times and after about the 3rd death I couldn't seem to use any other pet it just felt wrong I think what happened is that fight made me bond with him cause every time I think about it I just wanna see him but I can't I need to go to sleep :(

It seems I've fallen in love with the pet more then just a bond it feels amazing! I'm so glad I got him I was Sooo lucky cause we were definitely meant to be.

Thing is though once you let them go their most likely not going to be the same one you tame, unless you walk around and ask if anyone has seen (insert name here) and then tame it or not.

I once had a purple spotted cat and I had to disban it because back then we only had 5 pet slots, but I only just recently heard that shadowstorm is still alive! I wanted to tame him but that would be rude of me because he has a family now I can't just take him away from that besides his wife is afraid of hunters so it would be barbaric to do anything to him that would take him away from his family.

Or there will be some pets that tell me they don't want a family and that if I want I can tame them but in all honesty I'd rather let them be free I mean I did disban them and like someone said before I too have a hard time building a bond after I disban, sometimes I just never do so I let them go and be like sorry old friend but I'm just not feeling this like I did back in the day off you go be free!

That's how I see the wow world and it's beautiful that way :)

I've only tamed Skoll and Loque'nahak because I like their non transparent look but both weren't as challenging in a medium populated realm I tamed skoll within a day and a half after searching the storm peaks when in dungeon queue and Loque'nahak was tamed in like 2 days of searching for her I and another hunter were both looking for but the other hunter was camping for 3weeks and I landed in the area near shango because I saw a whirling wind near her spawn point and i felt it was odd and logged out I logged back in after a few hours and she was infront of me so my instinct to log out near that wind helped me I didn't camp for 2 days just returned for a few hours to search for her the other hunter messaged me after he logged in after I tamed her he wasn't mad with me but himself for logging out for a 15min break.

I've picked up Loque, Skoll, Arcturis, Ghostcrawler and Bantha'los in the past three days.

Banthalos was the only one I found myself, the others were a case of being the only hunter on late at night and having various /w by players asking if I wanted to tame them. Considering I have had to camp none of these I think I must be quite lucky.

I would totally use them, but me and BM do not go well. I have too much of a set up with MM at the moment, so I end up using my fox and/or warp stalker.

Oh dear. Where to begin. In order....

Karma.

Loque'nahak. I saw it in the early months in WotLK. But I didn't have a hunter old enough for it... I then, being on my Death Knight, followed my character's desire and did something terrible to him. Karma held onto my life and it took me years to ever see another one in the wild. I never complained, it was my punishment. The day I finally saw a Loque'nahak, I knew that my curse had been lifted for my hunter to benefit from. Though I wanted to name him Play Dough (This hunter not being on an RP server changed how I named things), I never forgot what I'd done, and so, named Karma as such.

Drama.

I leveled my current hunter during Cataclysm. And so, I kept checking for my old hunter's former companion, Destiny (Gondria). But it was not fated to be. Instead, I found a Skoll just wandering around. I figured why not, and tamed him. And, knowing how people tend to complain about not having Skoll (awkwardly enough, I learned only an hour or two after taming that a guildmate only needed Skoll to finish his pet collection on his alt), I picked the name Drama. It turned into a self-fulfilling prophecy as I experienced a higher amount of ganking than normal during my level 80-85 ventures with Drama.

Destiny.

Named because, like Drama, Destiny was once there the moment my hunter hit the perfect level, though only for my first hunter and back during WotLK. I found myself enjoying her company more often than not. Destiny decided to eventually re-join me, though through my new hunter this time, shortly after Karma lifted his curse. :3 She likes long, leisurely walks in the moonlight of Dalaran with me, running circles when nothing else is going on.

Depth.

I really need to rename this one. A reskin for Destiny, yes, but blue. I love blue! I love this cat! Karma and Depth trade places often in being my most active pets. Karma enjoys PvP with me while Depth helps me take on instances (usually farming and soloing things like Vortex Pinnacle). Quite the elusive one, at that. I found four Ankhas before I saw a Magria. And that Magria was my Magria. Another quite awkward tame, as a troll had been camping Magria for just as long as I had been wandered up to me while Depth was shrinking to the proper size for my hunter. Silly thing had been AFK and was camping along the path instead of on top of the spawn point. I corrected him on where to best camp to make up for... uh... stealing? his tame.

Those are my top four :x But I have all of the spirit beasts. I think it took me 2 weeks after Karma to fill the stables.

Might as well post about this, he didn't get a mention before- I think Faron overshadowed my poor Loque.

One of my worgen's favorite pets is her Loque'nahak, Kamar. Let it be known that I don't like Loque. I really, really don't like Loque. I've always found his model just plain ugly, his jaws deformed, his eyes creepy. He even looked weird when he was running. Every time I tried to look at him too closely, I reeled back and decided to never do *that* again. Just… Not my pet.

So of course he follows my hunters. He stalks me. He knows when I have a little inkling hope, a hope that maybe I might want to see him. If there's that hope, he's up in the first spawn point I check, without fail. If I don't want to see him? He knows. He's gone. …Usually. But once, he caught me off guard.

My worgen had just hit 76. I wanted to tame Aotona for my MM spec, so I flew into Sholizar and decided to do a quick rare check. Of course, you can't just check for one Sholizar rare, can you? I didn't really want to see the others. The hunter in me had made sure I had three free active stable slots, but I really just did not want to tame two BM-only pets. I was leveling MM. I didn't need a devilsaur or some ugly, deformed cat. So of course all three were up. I tamed them all, and for some reason, ended up abandoning Aotona and Krush. They just didn't work.

And looking at my relationship with Loque, he really shouldn't have "worked" either.

Image
"I'm ignoring you."

Still, I just couldn't let him go. I stuck him in the back of my stable and ignored him for ages, until I finally pulled him out to just use his heal. I even threw a random, typical name at him. Hah, it means moon, I'm so clever. I just wanted him to heal me anyway. I had dragons to farm. My friends and I were doing some Slabhide farming, and I had some Vortex Pinnacle runs to do.

His personality started in VP. He didn't *like* healing me. He'd heal me, but it seemed like he didn't want to. The ability always seemed to be used at the wrong time, or wouldn't work just when I needed it. He was moody. It was a little amusing, too, to see him finally pull off a heal, one that would give me the last sliver of life I needed to finish off the boss. He cared, he wanted me alive, he just… didn't really care if I was very healthy. Still, he could heal, so I brought him along to be the healer as two friends and I did Stonecore.

Kamar adores my friends. Especially Azunara the feral druid- I swear he went out of his way to heal her before anyone else. Whenever I noticed her health dropping I'd go to manually click his heal, only to see the cooldown up and Azu's health going up. He watched her like a hawk. He reminds me of a mentor or a father figure, apathetic to most but protective and affectionate to his "little kit". I've been really impressed by him. I don't like his model, but he's still got a touch of beauty, and his ugly face really brings out his funny, moody personality. I couldn't see my huntress with any other healer.

So... I have ALL of the spirit beasts...

For the longest time I would simply rotate which occupied my stable and change out according to whim or my xmorg. Just recently, however, one of the shiny beasties decided to vie for top Spirit Beast.

Meet Thunder:

He has suddenly been joining on every exploring/food/fishing daily he can knock Nykwil and Bliss out of. Bliss hasn't noticed yet, but Nykwil is rather grumpy.

As it turns out, he's very curious about exploring the world outside the icy Storm Peaks. He also enjoys messing with my cooking ingredients, chasing fish, and long walks on the beach.

I've just managed to capture my first spirit beast not 10 minutes after reading this thread and deciding to go for her.

Behold the lush Ártémís (Loque'nahak) Named after Artemis, Daughter of Zeus and Leto, Greek Goddess of the Hunt, Forests and Hills, the Moon, A name i felt suitable for such a pet considering the environment, the hunt to find her and the spell she once used to catch which i believe was MoonFire? Correct if wrong.

Image

I tried to catch her a few weeks back however i was too low a level and never actually managed to find her anyway.

However today i stumbled upon this forum and decided to tread back and try my luck, And after 10minutes i had found her, Luckily i saw her myself as NPC Scan didn't seem to register her, Maybe due to the recent patch i'm not sure. I eagerly cast "TameBeast" only to be met with "This beast is not tamable!" WTF i shouted as i wondered why, i try again as i'm taking blows from her mighty paws "This beast is not tamable!" once again pops up. My heart sinks as i begin to think the worse and that Blizz have changed her to non-tamable !LIGHT BULB! A quick cast of "Beast Lore" solves that out for me by stating she is in fact still tamable, "WTF is going on" i say to myself as i pop feign death to avoid killing her and myself at the risk of her despawning, i laid there watching her pace the shrubbery as i pondered for a minute and half or so wondering why i couldnt tame this creature !LIGHT BULB! WRONG EFFIN SPEC!!!!! Oh i was so annoyed at myself for making such a rookie mistake, while out of combat i quickly activated primary spec (BM ofc) launched an ice trap and began to cast "Tame Beast" due to my "Glyph of Tame Beast" it was over quickly and i am now the proud owner of this magnificent creature.

So proud of my victory i took the screenshot straight after taming her.

This is only my 2nd pet i have EVER tamed apart from the quest one needed at level 10. My first pet due to my love of cats/sabers is a Moonstalker saber i caught in Darkshore back in 2007, This guy has been through thick and thin with me, leveling together to 81.

Meet Growler.

My partner in crime, We've been through numerous BGs and dungeons together, I've had him since the times were we had to feed our pets to keep them happy. This guy is in it for the long run.

I didn't play as BM that much in the past other than for pvping, but I still had at least one spirit beast in my stables. I have a few more with me now since I've started using BM in dungeons and such. But only one of my spirit beasts holds a special place in my heart.

Lenalee

Image
(She's helping me search for the TLPD)

When the Hyjal dailies became available, I really wanted to tame Ankha so I spent hours upon hours on end camping for it. But all that would spawn were Magrias. I helped rehome 3/4 of the Magrias I spotted, but when the fourth one spawned, there was no one who wanted to tame her. So I thought "what the heck" and tamed her. I named her Lenalee after one of the exorcists from D. Gray-Man for some unknown reason. After I tamed Lenalee, Ankha spawned about 7 hours later and I tamed him. But by that point, I had grown really attached to Lenalee. From that day on, Lenalee is always in my party for doing dailies, farming, and pvping. And now I take her with me through instances and most of the time she pwn's everyone.

Hmm, I'm not going to bog down the thread with screenshots of all of these, but I'd love to share some stories. I've had all of these on my main hunter at some point, though I've only kept Loque, Karoma, Ankah, Skoll and Banthalos on my main-alt toons now hold the others.

Loque'nahak:
My favorite spirit beast of all-you can see him in my avvie and usually in any picture of my main hunter. I got a computer that was able to play WoW for myself one year for Christmas, and after my brother told me about WoW, I decided to look it up. While researching the classes and trying to see if it sounded like something I wanted to try, I found Petopia and started looking around. Loque was what made me decide to buy WoW and start my first toon-a Beast Master Hunter, back in WOTLK. Back then I was made to raid as a MM by the guild I was in-and I played BM while questing or running instances. This was when we could only have five pets total-Fai, my Loque, was my constant companion, switched out for my black wolf Hel (who I bonded with just as much) only when it came time to raid.

On every hunter that I've made that is the level to have him, I go and get him-even when the only reason I made all those alts was to get space for different pets. So Fai is joined by Sidhe and Rowan. My level 80 golbin hasn't had luck finding him just yet, though King Krush seems to follow her every time she goes to the Basin.

Gondria:
I never was really able to bond with this one, though she has always been the easiest to find for me. There was once a glitch where I lost her-I went looking and found her waiting to be tamed again moments after I thought her lost. I've always named her Tyr, on whichever toon I have her on. I don't know why I've had so much trouble bonding with her-I think it has to to with when she is running beside me I can see her eyes through the back of her skull. Always been something that bothered me-it gets worse when I look at her in profile.

Skoll:
Heh! I remember being a little level 20 hunter and pestering someone in Ogrimmar, back when my main was a Horde, where on earth they got that pretty puppy. I adore this guy-he doesn't have that transparent glowing through the body problem on Gondria and the other spectral ones. This is Fenrir on my main, Wyckid on one of my alts. I'm not greatly attached to him-but I cannot make myself abandon him. His funny run gets on my nerves if I watch him for too long, even if he is pretty when standing still.

Articus:
INSOMNIA!!! This bear is forever known to me as Insomnia. When one of my toons is able to, I go get him to have a SB until I can get to the level to tame the ones I want. One night I was stalking him and I watched for him the entire day! I finally gave up, went to sleep and couldn't fall asleep, sure that someone would get him when he spawned while I was logged. I kept getting up and checkign for him when I should have been sleeping. OCD anyone?

Ghostcrawler:
Scylla. Hmm.. He was fun to chase down, but I never really bonded with this one. He wasn't that hard to tame, and after I got him I hardly used him. Ended up letting him go on my main and getting him on one of my alts. Nothing wrong with him, just not my fave of the lot.

Karoma:
My Marrok. :) Love this little guy-I didn't use him as much as I would have liked after getting him, my best friend also had him and used him all the time, having two of him running around through an instance was a bit odd and I ended up using my King Krush more often then not instead. *shrug* He is lovely, I always admired the tamed spirit guides versions of the wolves, and was very pleased when he was made a tame. Got him after one night of hunting when I went looking for him.

Ban'thalos:
The only spirit beast to almost knock Loque out of my list of top pets. Those wings... I could sit and watch them all night long. Mine is named Hatsu, which means 'first', because the one I tamed was the very first one to spawn on my server. I only got him because of Petopia, I had read up about him and wanted to try. Another hunter took turns trying to tame him and a jerk of a dk kept trying to kill him-but I got him! I died like four times in the attempt. >_<

I honestly didn't think I wanted him. I'd seen screenshots but they didn't do him justice. When I tamed him it was just to see if I could-but I got so attached to those pretty, wispy wings, I could not part with him at all. He's been specced to tenacity, and is going to be my main tanking buddy (while Loque is my main dps pet) in MoP.

Magira and Ankah:
Ah, another set of see through tigers. I honestly hate this model. The eyes bug me to no end when I look at them from different angles. Tamed these two just to give it a try and see if they were better then Gondria when it came to the weird, follow you everywhere-eyes. Ended up keeping Tsume, the white one, though he may get replaced by a white MoP tiger in the future. I keep telling myself to let him go in preparation, but I just cannot bring myself to do it.

Ahem! Hey guys, yesterday I managed to tame Ghostcrawler, my first spirit beast! C:

I like to check for spirit beasts whenever I have the time. I decided to search for Ankha/Magria in Mount Hyjal. Unfortunately, I forgot to finish the questline to be in the correct phase. I didn't really feel like questing(I did it this morning though ^^) so I left for Vashj'ir. I quickly found Ghostcrawler casually crawling through the Abandoned Reef, so I hurried over to tame him!
I named him Blurr, after a certain transforming speedster.

Image

'Twas a very good day. I decided to test my luck and headed over to Grizzly Hills so I could try for Arcturis. I've been camping on and off for that bear the past three weeks without much luck.
When I got to his spawn point, another hunter was already there, so I wished her luck and went to bed.
After finishing that Hyjal questline, none of my friends were online. Not on WoW, and not on tumblr, either. I headed back to Grizzly Hills to check for Arcturis. Of course he wasn't there, it was too early! So I sat there and waited for two or three hours, which is normally how long I spend my time at his spawn point. Eventually one of my friends logged in to facebook so we chatted for a while. I started to talk about Arcturis. She doesn't know much about WoW, so I opened up Petopia and showed him to her, as well as the other spirit beasts. It was a fun conversation, but I was cut off when NPC Scan started going off! My heart skipped a beat, I started shaking.. I switched over to WoW when right there, in my face, was the spirit bear! I hit "Tame Beast" and began the tame. I was nervous, afraid of a jerk coming over and slaying him before I could finish. I've heard several stories of such thing happening.
However, I managed to finish taming him just as another hunter discovered us.~
I told my friend almost immediately, she was so excited! She congratulated me and I preceded to take a screenshot of my new bear to show to her.

It took me a few minutes to decide on a name, a name worthy of three weeks of camping. I wanted to name him after another transformer, like I did with Blurr. I was thinking of Fireflight, but he definitely didn't seem like a Fireflight at all. In the end, I named him Drift.

Image

I'm still amazed at the fact that I tamed Arctirus just a day after my encounter with Ghostcrawler! What luck.~ >u<
