Well for my 2 cents I will be cool with gnome hunters when Belfs can be druids or Tauren can be rogues.

Because gnomes are horribly destructive when it comes to anything natural. They would probably irradiate their pets and die horribly.

Reminds me of the quest in the Borean Tundra where they turn into robots.Novikova wrote:Because gnomes are horribly destructive when it comes to anything natural. They would probably irradiate their pets and die horribly.

Not all are. I highly doubt they'd irridate their pets, some of those gnomes in Borean Tundra didnt even want to be changed. There was a mechanical gnome yes but whats to say a goblin hunter wouldnt use their pets in fights for a quick buck? You can point all at one race and go shame shame and group them as a whole.Novikova wrote:Because gnomes are horribly destructive when it comes to anything natural. Uh. It's not a SHAME SHAME group thing. It's a huge part of their racial lore. Gnomes, for better or worse, tend to be (And notice the 'tend to be' part there) horrible about dealing with nature properly. They make the Night Elves go '>:|'. Frankly, I don't think it suits them. So maybe when Tauren and Draenei get rogues and BE get to be druids, sure - then gnomes can be hunters.
I'm not a goblin fan at all, so yeah. They probably would.
Honestly, if there's a huge demand for it, sure. I think Troll druids are kind of silly and Human hunters look goofy, but if people are happy playing them, so be it. It's my opinion and mine alone. If folks are happy playing them, groovy. That's what matters in the end is that you enjoy the character. I'm not paying anyone's 15 bucks a month but mine. And I cannot say why the devs don't have gnome hunters beyond maybe it's just not in their design plan or they just felt it was too silly or who knows. Same reasons there's no druids for all races, no rogues for Tauren or Draenei...
Maybe they're just saving them for a later expac or patch.

Re: 3 Reasons why I think Gnomes Hunters should be playable
If you ask me, warriors, rogues and hunters should be the classes where you don't have to have a reason to be one of them, but a reason to NOT have them. Warriors are basic melee fighters everyone should have unless for some reason they heavily shun physical effort. Rogues, even for less stealthy races, are pretty obvious because even if your hooves clack on the ground, they can fill the role of a light infantry. Hunters are basic ranged fighters unless or until we get a Ranger class.
Gnomes have shown multiple times to be proficient with guns and taming a pet shouldn't be too hard. After all, any human city boy (of more technologically advanced society of our Earth) can buy a big, scary dog and use it to attack people. So can a gnome import something scary and sick it on people.
In my opinion, gnome hunters are among the prime candidates for future new class/race combos. Among other combinations are probably draenei and/or tauren rogues (like I said, light infantry), tauren mages ("we've got some yaungols defect and teach us"), pandaren druids (they're natural enough to be taught by someone), blood elf druids (botanists, taught by the likes of Freywinn who use arcane to simulate druidism) and human and blood elf shamans (as "battlemages" who share game mechanics with actual shamans).

I still don't see tauren rogues or draenei rogues ever coming to be. Too big, too heavy, and...well...hooves aren't quiet.

Re: 3 Reasons why I think Gnomes Hunters should be playable
Yep I realize the thought of Tauren being rogues is silly, doesn't mean I wouldn't find it fun or amusing to have one, but on the other hand I appriciate the Differences in the races and the classes they can have. Not everything needs to do eerything, Gnomes are unique little creatures with an amazing affinity for the mechanical world, and while I am sure there are exceptions to that just like in everything else In my opinion we should appricate their quirks, just like we all understand that hooves do not equal sneaky.
Re: 3 Reasons why I think Gnomes Hunters should be playable
Like I said, "lorewise" a tauren rogue wouldn't be too stealthy. He would just be a quick, agile, lightly-armored fighter. Stealth would remain a gameplay mechanics... or be as magical as current stealth appears to be.Junrei wrote:I still don't see tauren rogues or draenei rogues ever coming to be. I mean, you stand in an open field. You see nothing before you, but something that looks like stink trails. Then you hear a "ooooom" sound and you see a couple of mantids trying to sneak by. Meanwhile, a shriek beside you and another mantid appears out of nowhere to die from a spike trap. That's what literally happens in the game. If WoW's stealth isn't magical, I don't know what's supposed to happen on that quest or how do you not see them.
My point is, stealth is really wonky in WoW. If a human can just vanish in plain sight, so should a draenei be able to, am I right?

Considering humans and draenei are two totally different species....and one has hooves and large muscle structure and the other doesn't...I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that. Sorry. ^^;

Re: 3 Reasons why I think Gnomes Hunters should be playable
I think the hooves are the only reasons those two races can't be rogues. Too big and too heavy? Just look at the male pandaren! And they can be rogues! That is seriously goofy to see. Female pandaren make nice rogues though, their animations makes it look like they're dancing.Junrei wrote:I still don't see tauren rogues or draenei rogues ever coming to be. As for gnome hunters, that would be awesome to have. I don't think their engineering ways would prevent it, rather it would make it have sense. Instead of using mental fortitude to convince the beast to become their friend, they would just use a mind control device to make it work. I can already see their Tame Beast animation having them holding up a remote control while wearing a helmet that looks like the Electromagnetic Gigaflux Reactivator!

Re: 3 Reasons why I think Gnomes Hunters should be playable
The male pandaren are...round...not so much with muscle as it is with a big belly. Male draenei and tauren are full on bulk muscle. XD
Re: 3 Reasons why I think Gnomes Hunters should be playable
Regardless of species, I meant they literally vanish in plain sight. As in, you can see me, now you can't see me. The stealth mechanics in WoW are magical enough to, IMHO, facilitate rogues of any race.Junrei wrote:Considering humans and draenei are two totally different species....and one has hooves and large muscle structure and the other doesn't...I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that. Re: 3 Reasons why I think Gnomes Hunters should be playable
As much as I'd love a gnome hunter, I'd rather have 4th ally race get paladin. Horde has 4 races that can be shamans and 2 for paladins, while allies ahve 2 for shamans, but only 3 for paladins.
If I was a troll, I'd call a Horde Bias (TM) here. But then I'd be horde myself

Re: 3 Reasons why I think Gnomes Hunters should be playable
But that's just it. They don't magically vanish. They stealth. If I hear "CLOP! CLOP! CLOP!", then the stealth is a big pointless.Zhinru wrote:Regardless of species, I meant they literally vanish in plain sight. As in, you can see me, now you can't see me. Well, if sounds come from cloaked rogues is debatable, I give you that. But I think that it can be explained with the same magic that makes them vanish. In the end all I'm saying is it's possible to happen and should be considered. Yes, there are arguments against it, but nothing insurmountable.

Re: 3 Reasons why I think Gnomes Hunters should be playable
It's still possible, sure. Just a bit more on the unlikely side. I dont even think we have tauren or draenei NPCs that are rogues.
Re: 3 Reasons why I think Gnomes Hunters should be playable
Both are within "subraces" - there's been Grimtotem rogues, and one even stealthed IIRC, while draenei Broken and Lost Ones have a tradition of assassins (see Akama). Those could conceivably teach the PCs.Junrei wrote:It's still possible, sure. Just a bit more on the unlikely side. I dont even think we have tauren or draenei NPCs that are rogues.
The likelihood discussion would be completely abstract as we have nothing to go off on that subject other than our own opinions. It would just be one of the combinations that people wouldn't think too much about, unlike tauren paladins for example.
