It depends on the rare.

If it's a tamable, I leave it be or call someone over. Loque I won't kill - though I still need him for that stupid, guilt inducing achievement. :( I remember feeling upset and a little betrayed when a hunter I showed where Krush was KILLED the dino because I had asked if anyone wanted to tame him. She had whispered 'yea i wanna tame' then /loled, killed it and flew off. :| Needless to say, she occupies a place on my ignore list these days.

I know I've been tempted to kill them under someone who stole it from me, but then they'll just come back, so...

I don't really kill the 25g dropping ones, because I remember how much of a pain it was to get them BEFORE CRZ (Thanks, Blizz. Worst. Feature. EVER. One of wow's best features was moving through zones seamlessly. So much for that.). And the flavor text indicates that yeah, they generally ARE there for the hunters. Thankfully blizz learned and gave us trackable rares.

I'm leaving the new tamable rares alone, and unless it has a good chance of dropping a good 'mog item I want, I leave the low level ones for a lowbie who could use the drop/XP.

Personally? I'm agreeing with the person above me. It really depends on the rare.

Rares with unique / skins that stick out such as Duskcoat / Loque / any of the sprit beasts, I won't kill.
Same goes for low leveled rares, as a rule of thumb. I just can't bring myself to murder a rare in case a lowbie comes across it! Definitely, one of my favorite parts of leveling was finding them.
Which brings me to the fact that, if I'm leveling and I come across a rare, most often then not, I will end up killing it, unless it's rare beast that drops the Crystalline Tear of Loyalty. I have to say though, it's getting hard to find them more often due to CRZ.

I've only helped rehome a low leveled pet once, but I'm sure if there were any hunters in the area, I'd help them tame it. Helped a cross-faction panda tame a ravager the other day, if that says anything.

Wow. Really? That's terrible. That person went a bit above and beyond just to be a jerk. I've never heard of any one doing that until now D: I mean.... She shouldn't have lied about wanting to tame it just so she could kill it. She knew that there were people watching the beast and trying to offer it up a new home. If she hadn't been whispered and happened to fly over when she saw it and killed it that's one thing. But the fact that she came over to kill it after being whispered is bugging me. She wouldn't have even known he was up otherwise D: What a jerk.

Siggy under construction!

Depends. If I'm leveling, it'll die if:
1. Someone isn't camping for it.
2. If it's not a pet made to be a pet (Challenge tames)
3. If I'm pissed off at it. (Vyragosa. I always. ALWAYS gun for Vyragosa... Or, I used to :3).
4. I need the achieve or experience (I have so many alts... and rares give sooo much xp.)
5. The person in front of me failed / I got first tag (champions... I loled cause my mage, running, tagged it before a paladin who flew on top of it. I got tag, he got aggro, that just amused me because he was spit spamming me for it... I just let him kill it a bit for me in return. -.- Be a jerk, I don't have to do anything.)
6. I'm with my bf. He has a hunter, but he derps a bit on the rarity of the new rares. He wouldn't kill a Loque... like. Ever. Or any spirit beast. But the new rares aren't so safe from him. xD He has a rare spawn trigger finger and they're too easy to kill at level :x So even if I told him to stop, it would be too late.

It won't die, but I might tag/take it and run off with it if:
1. I know someone (CRZ or MG) who wants it and is online.
2. I want it on my hunter and find it on an alt.
3. It's a spirit beast in general or a pet I don't want to see dead. I'll find it a home, somehow.

I never advertise in general because there are so many hunters there who honestly... don't deserve it. At all. And I don't feel bad in saying that. It's the truth. I wouldn't lose sleep if they never got the pet they were camping because they're such assholes. I err on the side of caution when I'm "saving" a pet because I assume that everyone, unless proven otherwise, is that asshole. :/ I don't want to help the bad guy. I kind of wait to see if people are going to be nice to me without me offering something before I give it to them unless I've given them a rare before/exchanged "contact" information (I'll friend you, you friend me, I'll tell you if I see this rare, you tell me if you see that rare or trade spawn timers, ect).

But yeah. I have a set of rules to determine how I react to seeing certain rares.

For me, I rarely feel bad about killing rares that are low level, or non-unique skins, to get the XP. I am even holding a Tear Of Loyalty, because I always said to myself I wanted to get one, just to be able to have it.

Brown Madexx, for those wondering!

For the most part, unique skins, high-level rares, et cetera, I will leave alone or I will give a quick check for hunters who want to tame. Tracking rares, in particular, I'll track to the end (I CAN'T RESIST! I HAVE A PROBLEM!) and find a nice adopter for him.

As for people who do the killing? I really don't have an issue with it. If there's a hunter camping, then yeah. It makes me sad and I think they are terrible. Especially if it's a tame that drops nothing but a tear, or nothing at all. An achievement rare? Or one that drops goods and there are no hunters around? It makes me sad to think about it, but fair is fair, and not all rares are for hunters alone.
Come see Kurasu's stables!

Pretty much. I felt incredibly betrayed. I know people need them for the achievement and honestly, if no one was interested in him, that's fine. But ... eesh. It was just a sinking feeling of 'what' as she mauled it to death.

To be honest, as long as I am not hunting it (or have never hunted it), I will kill it without giving it any thought.

Depends on the beast.

If its a unique skin I'll leave it be cause it will either get tamed or a lowbie will be all squeee and kill it.
If its just a random rare then yeah I do.

I've never gone out of my way to kill a challenge rare or spirit beast tho. Cept this one time when I found loque and needed him for the cheive. No one was around then and it was long after wrath.
