Re: Rants/Raves/Thoughts On 5.2 Tameables
So with the Triceratops, I'm wondering, just how useful will that reflect be? When soloing it may well be that you are on the opposite side of the target from your pet, and in a 5-man or raid who know what direction the boss would be facing, or even if the spell would get channeled the direction that your pet is on. The reflect may indeed help the survivability of the Triceratops itself, but I'm not sure it really will be useful to the hunter at all, or useful in a group. I'm also wondering if it would reflect shadow-crash type effects. Also wondering if it has any effect on targeted spells, like the ones that the Mogu use a lot in the Vale.
Regarding the Trexes, assuming the new model is more detailed, I'll take the somewhat more comical snout over the lesser-polygoned old models.

Personally, *I* was thinking of how amazing it would be on the *pet*. Not the *hunter*. I never even considered the spell might be castable on a hunter.Slickrock wrote:Time for me to be the wet blanket...

It seems to me to be similar to the shield effect that turtles have and would only protect them.Kurasu wrote:Personally, *I* was thinking of how amazing it would be on the *pet*. Not the *hunter*. Indeed. Much like turtles, these appear to be soloing pets moreso than grouping pets.Danielfboone wrote:It seems to me to be similar to the shield effect that turtles have and would only protect them.Kurasu wrote:Personally, *I* was thinking of how amazing it would be on the *pet*. Precisely, and having someything that can reflect a big spell might make a big difference at times! Certainly not as good as a Shell Shield, since pets already have a pretty potent passive spell defense, but some of the bigger damage Panzer takes is from a caster. So I'm thrilled t osee how well this'll work against things like that.Kalliope wrote: Indeed. Much like turtles, these appear to be soloing pets moreso than grouping pets.

I have to agree with some others that are underwhelmed with our new spirit beasts. The devilsaur would indeed be awesome if that is available, but I doubt we are getting that.
Very happy with the new dinosaurs, just hoping now that the Archyopterix type dino-bird is tameable.

RE: Spirit Porcupines, I'm considering grabbing Degu and swapping out Ghostcrawler because I haven't really used him in a while and also because I lack red pets. I'll have to study the porcupines closely on PTR I think. It'll also be good practice for live, because I did Deth'tilac all of once (and it took 3 attempts, and it was right before MoP so no one was bothering me, haha).

Make them bigger in size when tamed, they feel really small when they shouldn't be.
Give them an ability to benefit the hunter.

On the other hand, what I'm seeing of the Dire Horns? Yes! Definitely must find myself one! They really *are* adorable! And such *wonderful* detail.

Speaking of which... I would have liked to have seen a new, updated, raptor model. Isle of dinos would have been a really opportune time to throw in a raptor update. They do have the BC outland models which are still nice, just wish they came in more color variations. I would even take the outland model with color varitations stuck on the isle, although they would seem a bit out of place with all the nice and new models. They could be abnormally large to fit the "giant" part of the Isle of Giants.

Re: Rants/Raves/Thoughts On 5.2 Tameables
On that topic, I'm very happy with the new blue dragon turtles! The limit palette colours they use are very appealing and blue is my favourite colour. Could this be the turtle I've been waiting for?

I don't think I even need to mention Dire horns. Such a good work by the art team. Endless showering of love and affection from me to them for all this.
Re: Rants/Raves/Thoughts On 5.2 Tameables
For one, they're the first ones to NOT be cursed with being a rare spawn. This means that hunters that don't want to join the camping hell that is CRZ can finally nab a spirit beast of their own. I know that there have been some hunters that have asked for this, and it seems Blizzard has finally answered that wish.
Secondly, they each bring a unique challange aspect to their tames, something else that has been asked for by hunters. The tracking mechanic has been nice, and it still is, but I think we've been ready for something new. The new SB porcupines do that.
It feels to me that Blizzard is trying to strike a balance between accessability (sp?), challange, and aesthetics. I mean, would it be right to give "common" spirit beasts a SICK look that would surpass their rare counterparts? They'd be everywhere in that case and would defeat the purpose of camping the other Spirit Beasts to aquire their unique looks (not that I'm a fan of camping for rares).
All of that said, I'm still crossing my fingers for the Xuen tiger god skin as a Spirit Beast. I know it's another cat, but it's still a sick skin, and it hasn't been unheard of for hunters to have pets to have skins that match another class's guardian pets (see Karoma and a Shaman's spirit wolves).
Regardless, I'll be trying out each of the new challange aspects of the new Spirit Beasts when the patch goes live. I love challange tames! ^^

Minus the underwhelmed part, since, well, I have a thing for red porcupines. x_x
