I think that problem with Growl lies on how it works.

On Hunters' pets, it has threat generation and taunt weaved together, so if mod is immune to taunt part (and so many mods on isle/raids are, because Blizz wants true tanks to handle those things) it's immune to whole spell.

For Warlocks' Voidwalkers, taunt and threat generation are separate spells, so if target is taunt immune, it can still create threat, especially because threat spell doesn't cause threat by itself, but increases threat that pet generates, which is harder to "break" like Hunters' Growl.

So personally, I wouldn't mind seeing:
A)Taunt and threat generation separated for hunters also.
B)Taunt removed completely from Growl (because let's face it, in most cases you don't have bazillion of aggro where only way is to taunt) like it was before Cata/MoP (can't recall in which one taunt was baked in).

Just my 2 coppers.

But the voidwalker taunt AND growl are the exact same thing. They're not different in the slightest. I'll repost them since I posted their text earlier. All taunts are the exact same now. It taunts the target and generates threat. Only difference is the wording.
Suffering Special Ability
40 Energy 30 yd range
Instant 10 sec cooldown
Requires level 15
The Voidwalker taunts the target to attack it, and increases threat that it generates against the target by 200% for 5 sec.

Auto-Cast:
Taunts the current target if it is not attacking the Voidwalker and taunts any target who attacks its master.
Growl Basic Ability
Melee Range
Instant 8 sec cooldown
Requires level 1
Your pet growls at the target, generating threat, taunting the target to attack the pet, and increasing threat that your pet generates against the target by 200% for 3 sec.

of course, with the difference that for some reason Warlocks get a 5 second long taunt, while Hunters only get 3 seconds.

Maybe that's the issue? maybe there simply isn't enough time in 3 seconds for your pet's attacks to generate the threat necessary?

Intimidation should certainly help. Even as BM with a Tenacity pet, those Death Adders will come after me after a few seconds. The only solution is to FD so they go back to the pet. That's the only way I can kill those things. I have no problems with anything else so far.

I have a bazillion % aggro all the time when fighting mobs of any level. As soon as I start shooting, I rip all aggro off my pet and no matter how many times I misdirect, with the glyph, and feign death, intimidate, personally click the taunts and threat spells, I rarely can peel them off myself and if I do, its given right back to me shortly after D:

first of all, I've noticed the same thing you guys are talking about. My pet can't hold agro for crap anymore, and I don't think an extra 2 seconds of increased threat generation would make much of a difference. A lot of the time it looks like my pet will only cast growl once, and if he loses agro after that he won't cast it again unless I force him to. That being said, you guys are clearly forgetting that we have misdirection. I haven't had any problems since I started using my misdirection macro again. Sure its 1 more thing we have to do, but pop it before pulling and with just 1 arcane shot worth of threat my hunter face tank problem has gone away.

We're not forgetting, Manbear. People have stated repeatedly none of those worked.

I had already posted previously (in another thread) how Misdirection wasn't working at all on my Tiller's farm with the pests that come up from my crop. It works fine on the very first pest I summon, but if I try to summon a 2nd or 3rd one at the same time, MD does absolutely nothing. The 1st pest will attack my pet, any simultaneous subsequent pests will eat my face.

I've tried it at well and it doesn't work for me either. Intimidate didn't seem to do anything either.

I haven't yet sent my hunter to the isle. I've been concentrating on my warrior and shaman first. However, I've noticed something similar with the shaman's earth elemental.

I don't often use the elemental since it's taunt (angered earth) is an aoe. I'll usually only pop him out when taking down one of the tougher rares solo or if I managed to pull more mobs than I can handle. I've noticed that often I'll get a combat message saying that the mobs are immune to Angered Earth. I'm wondering if the same is true for Growl.

Hmm. Maybe that's why they seem to aggro on my female Tauren shammy from halfway across the zone. Those boys need to learn that "Moo means No" Sure, they're not bad looking aside from some overcompensating nose rings, but what cow wants to be taken out to dinner, a movie, and a trip to the burn ward after that goodnight kiss.

isn't that what they call "hot sex"?

So, some of you are having problems with other mobs than the Death Adders? I'm not having issues with anything but them and my pet does keep casting growl as it should. I wonder what the difference is.

I have noticed that my pet's focus drops and stays lower more now and also that Focus Fire seems to trigger more often.

Maybe growl needs a buff to better compensate for the increased power of some of our shots?

I dont think it needs a buff. I think it's actually bugged. You're the first one I've seen that's told me there's been no issues. Or maybe you haven't found the right mob that will have issues.

I didn't say NO issues, I said only with the Death Adders.

Just a thought, have you tried playing with all addons turned off? Maybe one is conflicting in a strange way. I personally have dumped Omen because I haven't needed it in ages.

I don't think its an issue with addons cause everyone uses different ones. Many people use the same addons cause they're popular but theres people who play with no addons or ones different than eachother. Addons shouldn't affect the game in a way that could be called exploit which is where the addon actually interferes with Blizzards work and should be appearances only.

People making addons that actually mess purposely with coding that changes how the world works around the player such as affecting how npc's, pets, players perform like increasing damage, giving them abilities they shouldn't have, changing movement speed, etc, etc. would have serious consequences and probably a lawsuit against the addon creator. Addons can affect and bug things like your UI like the pet bar and action bars but it shouldn't be affecting aggro at all.

Aside from SexyMap and Bagnon, I use no macros and no addons for my UI so my pet and my characters action bars are untouched from any third party coding. :3

Growl my not need a buff but Thunderstomp does. Either the threat generated or the damage needs a boost, and why is it nature damage? Anything with nature resistance laughs at it.
