Was I the only one that got hung up on the extremely Egyptian theme to some of the named mobs? Fits very well with the camel mounts... I'm very excited about the prospect of Blizz bringing in another mythological context! :D

Edit: Second vid added after my first posting. :D

The purple strider leaves me to this that possibly the old skins may be retired? And I agree that it seems very out of place for a Mulgore starting area.

Yay Worgen mastiff!! Booo no gnome hunter. I'd totally roll a gnome hunter.
I'm also now thinking of a goblin hunter to. Hhhhhmmmmmm

Isn't King Bangalash the same skin as the new night elf hunter pet??
Um, why would a purple strider, who's in a place that is FAR from being threatened, proof that old skins are being retired? Purple Striders live in only one place, the floating island off of the bone wastes in Terrokar. So they are far, far from being retired. If anything this could, possibly, hint at lower level Purple Striders.

Am I the only one excited about the Bush Chicken?!? I'm sure it's a critter, but I hope it will also be a minipet.

The more glimpses I see of the desert area, the more excited I get about it! :D

As for the color of that tallstrider, it looked to be like there were some other color oddities in that clip. Maybe it's not really that green? Also, who's to say that the old beasts will keep their skins? Compared to the new ones, they are looking pretty boxy and I wouldn't be surprised if Blizz has a little surprise up it's sleeve. I just hope it's not too radical of a change.

I sure hope seagulls aren't pets.. good Lord, a pet that would bomb the mobs to death? lol. Their main attack would be "defecate", lol

I can see them being introduced as mini-pets or something for the pirate-inclined folk.

Those are some nice feathers! I feel like it ought to have more purpose than just a flyby critter. Goblin racial pet? :p

I wasn't talking about the purple skin being retired.
It was these skins I was talking about:

Maybe I'm not understanding what you mean???

With the purple becoming the starter pet I was thinking and questioning if the old skins in Mulgore (the ones above) may be retired because of the new purple low level coming for new Tauren hunters.

Was just a curiosity question.

Those seagulls are really, really nice actually. They seem too detailed to be a critter, but not practical enough to be a beast.

And I doubt any pet skins are actually being retired. They might move around a bit, but they won't be retired.

I think maybe with the new graphics update it's totally feesable that the seagulls will be critters.

Everytime I run AQ I'm like '...wow' those things are incredible, now they get super cool markings AND what looked like a ram god! Super excited. <3

EDIT: I also like how they named the female Isiset, which is Isis, and Set together, the name of two Egyptian Gods. =) S'pure awesomeness.

Well next time just clarify it as it's still easy to confuse you meant old skin as in old skin including purple striders.

That and why would this make the old skins retired? And least of all the brown striders, they're everywhere already. But for the Emu and White? Ofc they're staying, just because the barrens are partly exploding and becoming two seperate zones doesn't mean there's going to be extinction of 2 complete skins and reducing a pet family from a low number already to one even lower. IE allowing only two common skins, and two rare skins, well as rare as Mazzranche and Clutchmother can be.

The only thing this could mean is either A: purple striders become available at lower levels, not neccisarily meaning the extinction of two species of strider. Or B: since the pets are NOT permanent Blizz dev's just took their fave skins and tacked them onto hunters.

I'm going to lean with B.

Edit: as remember these pets aren't permanent and evidently LOAN pets as supposedly they disappear at lv 10. Meaning that they could be on loan from another Hunter.

my question about the starters is: can they only be obtained by starting a hunter of that race?
meaning, no one else than worgen get mastifs.

that dark phoenix is way sexy though o_o
do want!

While this feature of the Grimtotem Spirit Guide wasn't exactly intended... - it will still be possible in future for everyone who wishes to tame this NPC to do so
