Yeah, I was considering getting Soulsilver for my brother for his birthday, since it's coming up. But the DS he uses is mine, so I could play it too guilt free.
Galadrael wrote:BTW--im willing to bet all of us here freaking loved pokemon. That thought just occurred to me.
I'm the exception that proves the rule.
My opinion on Pokémon has always been " Gotta' nuke 'em all!".
It, and similar games was in my fathers opinion just "Ways to steal from children". Youget stuff from your parents, whether you like it or not...
i got into the game watching my cousin play his hunter and me liking pets wanted to play so he let me make my first character a tauren hunter, on his account after 3 months my parents finally allowed me to get my own account and iv been playing ever since
When I was a wee little girl of 11 or so (AKA like 3 years ago ) I was visiting my cousin's place and wandered into their computer room, where my cousin was playing WoW. Intrigued by the strange, tiny man with a high-pitched voice he was playing, I spent most of our visit watching him as he visited an odd faire, and set on an amazing hunt for treasure while traveling through dangerous lands (Mulgore) and fighting terrifying beasts (Tallstriders). I asked my parents if I could possibly play it, and a few weeks later, rolled my first toon on my first MMO.
Of course, I probably won the "Biggest Noob Of The Year" award, but hey, who hasn't?
Right?

Well, My first MMO was Guild Wars. Me and my brother bought it because our sister, who had recently moved out of the house/city, had gotten it. We spent time together through the game. It went like that for a couple of months, but I never really enjoyed to game very much. It was kinda boring...
So, around November of that year, my brother got himself WoW. He'd played a bit of WC3, but never really finished it. I had tried playing, but I'm pretty bad at RTS's, so I didn't get very far, even though I really liked to story. Needless to say, he got addicted to WoW, and I am a shoulder-lurker; I like watching people play games over their shoulders, not really sure why. I thought it looked pretty neat, so I bought myself the Battlechest that coming boxing day.
I rolled a NE Druid first because, comeon, changing into animals=awesome? But my brother played horde, so I decided to try a BE Hunter, and she became my Main. ^-^

My stepdad bought it when I was like 12 and I was/am a gamer girl so of course I had to try it ^^ I had never even heard of Blizzard Entertainment until afterwards lol

Me and my Bro/Dad played the Diablo games, and my brother saw WoW on sale one day and asked my dad if he could get it. me and my bro were both into Runescape at the time, and were familiar with MMOs. Then I started a character on his account. A dwarf Hunter so I could shoot people with a gun. And then I canceled my RS account (I was a paying member) for WoW, installed the base discs, and then had to work to 'earn' BC, which came out shortly after I started.

I saw the promo vid of the night elf turning into a panther.
I ACTUALLY thought it might look like that.
Then my elf died on a screwy boat trip to Darnassus and I was dumped as a level 10 ghost into Stonetalon Mountains, where I saw a Ghost Wolfed shaman run by, and as I didn't have TBC, rerolled tauren.
I heard you could be a wolf person in the next expansion. NO, REALLY. I don't know what I was thinking, but that was my main draw. I wanted to be a wolf person. Oh, sure, there were other reasons. My boyfriend and mother both played WoW, and I'd heard it was easier to solo in than FFXI, and I wouldn't have to pay for my own account because my boyfriend wanted me to play so badly, and, well, I certainly didn't end up sticking with it for the reason I started playing it (trolls and draenei for life)... but, uh, yeah. Worgen. I'm pretty lame.
Thanks to Vephriel for the beautiful signature! <3 Dragon Cave!
My history with Blizzard is a long one. Starting back in the mid /late 90's with Warcraft Orc & Humans. Back then it was you chose horde or alliance and you had to build your own little city. Even back then I chose the orcs. lmao My father got me started on this. I remember this so fondly to because you had to build your little Inn, then a barracks and farms to feed all your little guys which were peons and warriors. They would say things like "Dahboo" and "Work work work" in their little orc voices. And oh ............... the Fog of War. Ah good times good times. You could play against the computer or network lan and play against someone else. I played that forever and boom Warcraft III. Ah more good times!!!
I stopped playing for a bit then heard about World of Warcraft coming out. Immediately bought that and boom .................. hooked yet again. I've played since 2004 only taking a break from the game twice and the longest was about six - eight months. But I've been a diehard Warcraft fan since 1994 (I think that's when it started and I see no signs of it stopping anytime soon.
I have my father to thank and so does Blizzard.
Incidentally ................. my father is still an avid player also.
Played the first Warcraft at a buddy's house in middle school. Played the second Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo on my family computer in high school. Played Diablo II and WC 3 on my own computer in college (a LOT of Diablo with a bunch of guys that lived in my dorm.)
My little bro bought me WoW as an early Christmas present, and my (then) boyfriend and I played on our shared computer/account in 12 hour shifts for the first couple weeks. When he turned out to be a douchebag (and got me kicked out of my house) I made him get his own account. Then I got the entire rest of the house whose couch I crashed on (one a Diablo II buddy) addicted ... and the rest was history. =D
EDIT: And nope, never had any interest in Pokemon.
I bought the first warcraft games when i was 9 or so, then moved on to wc3, then to WoW initially I had played Diablo 2.
My first WoW char was a warlock I got him to level 26 had points in everything also had a decapitating sword of the bear because i thought it looked awesome. o.o
First 60 was an orc hunter though.
I loved pokemon though; LOVED. I only ever played Blue and I always chose squirtle every time. I'd play for hours and hours duping rare candies, then i found out about the pet dupe thing you could do if you and your friend had game boys and could trade pokemon so I had my army of level 99 mew twos and 1 blastoise. Still have my mew two card from the movies. o_o and a holographic charizard somewhere.
well it was a mix of things for me.
i was watching this show called the Big Bang Theory and Sheldon and all his friends where all on laptops screaming at eachother as they where overun by a poorly pulled mass of goblin trash. Every time there was a scene where they included somthing from wow i got a good laugh and eventualy decided to try it out. (bc i wanted to be like all the awsome nerdz on tv *cough* xD)
i almost rolled a druid but at the last second decided to roll a hunter as a tribute to my baby starling. (may his sweet soul R.I.P) have a netherstorm raven named after him now =3
Kept running into class mates and friends who played WoW, called them all nerds at first. Then I saw one of them play his druid in Karazhan on Curator, and he offered me a free trial. Haven't looked back since.
I used to play Diablo ( still do) and neverwinter nights ( sp?). I loved the fact in neverwinter nights, there was a class where you got to pick a pet ( from ones they gave u a choice to pick mine was always a panther) and the fact you could name them. So when i seen this ' MMO" called world of warcraft being previewd i figure hmm... looks like fun... so when it came out i got it the first day xD first class i ever rolled was hunter. had NO idea they got pets i just thought they seemed super cool and when i read they got pets i was like... SCORE!! My first ever toon- Siliverin Nelf hunter, still have her she is my baby, though she is now a belf xD and the rest is history... yeah i been playing wow for a loooong time xD but im proud :3

It was when I started hanging out with my cousin.
I had seen him playing it a few times right after WoW was released but it was only when I got to watch him and his guild in a Molten Core run that I knew I had to get in on all the fun.
In February of 2005, my newby hunter was born.

the original warcraft.. but i veered off to a game called star wars galaxy... then the combat upgrade happened and with it a huge number of my guild left and went on to world of warcraft.. at the the time i was in the beta, but had not grown onto it yet. it was when found star wars no longer was the game, and could focus more on warcraft, when it was finally released.. that it was my digital escape...
interesting side note; i was creature handler (now known as beast mastery) in swg..
Before Warcraft I played Runescape and later Warcraft III, and when I saw the preview for WoW inside the little Warcraft III booklet it looked cool, like an upgraded Runescape with all the awesome characters from Warcraft III. Got a free trial when it came out, rolled Night Elf Hunter (always wanted pets on Runescape, this was before they added summoning or whatever it is they have now where you get pets), died inside some furbolg caves and couldn't find my body, deleted it and rerolled Hunter of the same name, shot stuff, levelled to 10, tamed a pet, mauled people's faces, and I was hooked.
That second version of my first character is now my main. My first real pet was a Dun Morogh Snow Leopard (I remember camping for so so long for Humar back in Vanilla but he never showed up), but I had to abandon him in Wrath to fit cool new stuff into my stable. Considering trying to ticket him back.
