I agree with earlier comments. Don't get your hopes up guys, or you'll get disappointed. This is an early stage BETA. These things are ROCKS and are more likely to be reclassed as elementals and not be tameable! And rightly so. As much as I would LOVE to have one of those shale spiders, they're just not a beast, and hunters shouldn't have them.

I should point out the following tamable 'inanimate' beasts:

Green gem owl
Pink gem snake (so far)
Lava spiders
Bone spiders

These (with the exception of the snake, which is new but has always been tamable) have always had a tamable version, while being obviously 'elemental' in nature. I hope you're not suggesting we suddenly lose the tamables we've already had, eh?

I'm not sure he was suggesting that, really. The difference between the pets you named and these new ones (in my opinion, at least) is that they're still basically visually the same kind of creature... Ah, I mean like the snake, for an example. If you took a regular snake and dipped him in a vat of red glitter, you'd end up with the red gem snake, more or less. They're still the right shape and volume, just not always the right material.

These worms and the spider though... They're not like that (again, to me). They're not a worm/spider someone glued more rocks/shiny bits to, these are obviously rocks/crystals/round ringy things that are loosely pulled into something resembling the shape. They don't... ah... feel beasty? Less like elemental beasts and more like... elementals, really.

I probably didn't explain that so well, but...

I'm not so sure about that. In the snake's case, yes, it's just a recolor. But the owl is visibly hacked out of stone, complete with flat planes and specular hilights, while the lava spider is likewise obviously made out of rock with lava lying underneath. The bone spider also deviates away from regular beasts in, well, being made out of bone, although you could justify it as an undead. (Though that doesn't explain why we can't have the zombie birds, but.)

I don't know. As long as we have green rock owls, I say a brown rock spider is hardly out of the ballpark.

No the lava spider just looks like a lava coloured spider and not made out of lava IMO.

Its still a very good point about the owl though and I mean we can tame ghosts.. I dont think a rockish worm or spider is too farfetched. BUT the snake model was originally used for a JC figurine so.. who knows

An entire zone without pets would be an insult to hunters! (Or at least a terrible disappointment.) And what other types of creatures would you find on the elemental plane of earth? (Or whatever they are calling it these days.)

No, I'm not getting my hopes up, but it's really interesting that these are flagged as beasts right now, and it would be very cool if they still that way and can eventually be tamed.

Wtb screenshots and/or a video of the Gyreworm as a pet! XD

I'm putting my gold on the fact that they just haven't gone through everything new and decided whether or not they're tameable.

Yes, but there's also a lot of OBVIOUSLY non-beasts down there tagged as beasts too, so :/ Things like rock flayers and things named "blahblah elemental"*, so I can't put much faith in the tags right now.

*it's obviously not REALLY named "blahblah elemental", but you get the idea.

If I remember right, just NORTH of the Castle in Stormwind, there is that circle looking thing, talk to the guy there, he sends you on to talk to Thrall I think, and then he makes you get on an eagle.... then you fly down into it :) once there, there is a portal back to SW too.

Did I get that right ? hehehe

yes, just north of the keep there's a shaman who'll set you on your way/a portal to get there.

It's just the little things change so fast sometimes it's hard to keep track :P

Yet you have a corehound in your sig, and a corehound is pretty much a lava dog- I don't really see it as a dog that breathes lava like the Kurken. I see the Corehound, both red and acid, as beasts of magma. Their skin is cracked and pitted, with cooled off black hide, just like magma/lava does when it's cooled. If you've ever looked into the beasts mouth, it's like an inferno. There's just a bright white yellow. They constantly drool a lava/fiery spit.

Then ofc we have lava spiders, 'undead' bone spiders which strike me as undead creatures more than living, with how necrotic they look, ontop of their webbed-ness. Then we have the Vargul blighthounds which are obviously of the demon dogs, but, we can still tame one.

While I was originally a bit 'eh they're to elemental to be beasts', my stance has changed. Mostly because of A: the Jade owls, which Ysera herself summoned from The Emerald Dream. The Spirit Jade Owls which are tameable. The sunburst adders- which while they are a 'reskin' the only other adders like that gemmed appearence ingame, are ofc JC trinkets. I saw one following a priest once, I inquired it and found it wasn't a vanity pet like I thought, but the summoning animation of the trinket being activated.

Sides. We can hope.

Cause I want me a shiny worm.
