IRONY.
But yes that is quite an interesting little story XD And awesome that it actually worked out, too!

am I the only one who will admit to actually seeing "You've got mail"?
Its an incredible story, mania. Grats on the epic win
I don't really feel like this is so much the "Post-Modern" era as much as its the "Pre-Zombie-Apocalpse" era. I consider myself more of a forward thinking guy and an era that just won't die is just as feasible as a coming era, where the dead come back.
Like Mania, I actually met my significant other online. Took about two years of talking before she was ready to actually meet but it didn't really matter. It's odd to say but I think that sometimes people get so hung up on the physical that they fail to see the person inside. I mean that when I was young and fairly good looking I would overlook girls because they didn't fit into the "hot" category. Later in life I found out through talking to them that they were really wonderful women and I realized I had lost out on some really good times. My first marrage was based on looks and as cute as she was, inside she was really ugly. By the time I had finally met my 2nd wife the two years of chatting had shown me that she was an absolute Goddess in her soul and experience had taught me that looks don't mean squat.
As for you Red, my original advice still stands...back away slowly and as soon as you're clear run away screaming into the night. And btw Mania, your story is great! Thinking they would screw the story up in Hollywood though...JENNIFER ANISTON AS MANIA...Through the tears and laughter she stole his heart.... LOL!!!!

Do not, I repeat, do not play chess with this man. Fantastic story though.
Redith, to be honest she kinda just sounds like a vapid attention whore :/
Even her user name 'Gamer_Gurl' is an immediate tip off that she is a girl and wants it to be recognized in a dominantly male population.
Then the whole, "would you wanna see me making out with another girl" part seems like she's just trying to get a rise out of you.
As much as I dislike Quix0tica and her army of adolescent admirers, her youtube video Attention Wh0re 101 pretty much points out all the classic symptoms of this 'special' breed of online girl.
(it's ironic because I can't tell whether she knows/embraces the fact that she herself is one, or if she truly doesn't believe she is lol)
Sorry, I don't mean it personally, nor does it mean anything about her personal life. It's just the term coined on the internet for that particular behavior that she seemed to be exhibiting. xP
Necro-ing the thread but I'm having basically the same problems with online dating and I think it should be kicked in the butt.. I wish i could have such a great outcome as Mania and other people in the WoW community but the guys who are close to my age and in my town are just rude and downright mean to me.
I've tried those sites and upon signing up and filling out the surveys and entering my interests I get a slew of random men teasing me because I like a certain movie.. or saying "You are too cute to be so damn weird." Because I enjoy crocheting which isn't really a socially acceptable hobby for a 25 year old it seems.
I'm done with not only online dating but dating in general.. people are just too mean.
..and don't get me started on the torment i'd receive if i mentioned that I played WoW at all in the past.

I guess thats my problem. I'm generally shy thought it wouldn't completely seem that or and I have no reason to.. and I don't feel comfortable walking up to random strangers and striking up conversations with them.
I'm hoping when I can get myself a better job which puts me out there more the shyness will wear off.
I just remember when it used to be so much easier to date someone from the internet.. I mean I used to meet really nice guys.. but things changed.

I'm the same way. It takes me a awile to get used to someone new and feel comfortable around.
And he smiles and says: "I've known who you are from the beginning. Why do you think I made sure you knew the name of the online dating service I was using?"
OMG... That sneaky little...
Snap!
Seriously, a beautiful story, and it's your story...

Attention-hounds tend to claim they are bisexual to get attention. There was a girl in my school who claimed she was bisexual just to get a reputation, for instance.
