A hah! Figured it out! Oil Stained Wolf Tame!

But I also had a reduced tame time do to potion of speed. My tame went off the second he despawned, there wasn't even a flash of light for the tame finishing; he just vanished. I actually thought I'd failed again until I went to tame another wolf and it said "you have too many pets already". My tame beast spell is exactly 15.4 seconds with the haste pot if that helps. I tried recreating it several times, but I kept getting the timing off. It would either be right before he despawned(in which case he would shrink, loose oil coat, and then complete his eat/howl animation, thus leaving the poo under him before despawning) or be right after he despawned, and he would just vanish mid-tame. It's possible, but you have to get the timing exactly right.

Thats so cool! - However if its the quest your thinking of then it would make this pet alliance only, IF I'm remembering correctly as I dont think horde have a similar quest.

yeah its ally only i dont remember seeing it at all on horde side.

Update! He keeps his oil coat even if he dies and is rezzed! Found out the hard way...stupid mobs...

Well I know what I'm doing tonight. Where exactly did you get the quest from??? I don't think I've done it yet. And I'm so thankful I kept all my speed pots etc from my Beast tame. /cheer

Np. I actually hated the Northrend worg model too, but something about this guy just clicked with my hunter. Her signature pet is her MC Corehound, Emberkin, and I favor ferocious looking pets for her. This guy tamed as aggressive(as in he was set to aggressive when I first summoned him, took me a second to figure out why he was attacking everything!), which I've never had happen before, and he seems so eager to fight. He's got a lot more personality than the other Northrend worgs she's tried.

So I found him and uh .............. can't get the quest. He doesn't offer a thing. Maybe I'm to high level? This really ticks me off. I haven't done it so maybe it's part of a chain?
