How do you define "ninja?"

If you roll a greed like everyone else and it happens to be that you win then your not being a Ninja. In my guild there roll thing is you get 1 need roll for that raid. If something comes up that u need and nobody else wants it then you can roll for it. If you do a need roll and win and then something else comes up and you need roll again and say 2 others need roll then your roll is not counted as you already got something. It also depends if the other people have gotten anything yet for there class.

Way way way back before DF was invented, I was pulled into a group run of UP. I greeded everything. My being DPS at the time, I bypassed everything seeing as all I had on me was better than what was dropping. Then I see it. THE DPS Polearm. It had Hit rating. Crit. AGL. STR. a touch of stamina, and it's DPS was 3 times. THREE TIMES what my current sword was. Naturally I rejoiced and needed.

Druid heals needs.

Druid heals wins.

I snapped. I switched sides to alliance and spent months getting a paladin (my most hated class) to 80. I then tracked down that druid (who since got to 80) and proceeded to kill him. Over, and over, and over, and over again. I friended him on my main DK, so when he logged in, I made note of his location, switched sides, and killed him, over, and over again.

My grudges are eternal, and my wrath is to be feared.

Wow... I understand why you were pissed, but I'm not sure grudges like that are healthy.

Did he have a feral spec? It was underhanded of him to need on something for his off spec, but that might explain it (other'n "I can use polearms").

NINJARS are the ones who master loot stuff to themselves or to their friends/guildies without giving everyone a fair shot at it.

They are also those who need when they don't. I actually had 9 ninja's in one run on my pallytank (back in the day when os was hard and the gear was awesome):

The Signet of the Accord dropped (BoE tanking ring in OS10 man). The loot rules stated at the start of the run were the usual MS > OS, 1 Piece of loot each.

Only in this situation as it was BoE, the Master Looter called for the entire raid to roll on the ring. I said "Hangon a sec, its a big upgrade for me, can I roll for mainspec?".

The entire raid was like "Nahh its a BoE, lets all roll". I said "Well sure, if it was going for an offspec roll, I can see it has value on the AH, but its a huge upgrade for me, I'll equip it all in front of you, so you know im not going to sell it on the ah"

The 9 other greedy people all started going "Nah but we can sell it" blah blah.

So I had one of my rare angry moments It was along the lines of

- I tanked this for you, if it was not BoE you'd be congratulating me
- I will never tank for any of you again if you'd rather sell an item than let a good tank get an upgrade
- Whats the point on you selling it, when I can use it, and will equip it? I tanked it, I deserve it just as much as you need that trinket that just dropped that you won the roll for on MS.

After a 5 minute debate they all caved and let me have it. Fair enough too.

In all raids that I lead (I often lead pugs). If someone can use a BoE for their mainspec, they get it, as long as they equip it in front of the raid, so that its bound to them and we know they aren't going to sell it.

Why do people have to be so greedy!

It baffles me too, Giggle. I don't understand why people will alienate and hurt others over something that's ultimately just virtual gold. This is why I stopped raiding. I saw someone I considered one of my closest friends turn into a real asshole over raids, loot, and progression. "It's not about the loot," "it's not about who does the best dps," "it's not about bragging rights" - except it was. "We just want to raid with friends and have fun" my backside! /end rant.

I love this game so much, I just can't even explain how frustrated this aspect of the game makes me.

Probably the worst definition of ninja is having one of your best friends turn into one.

10man OS, 3 drakes. Twilight Drake drops. We /cheer, we all roll. He rolls the lowest (15), chucks an epic bitchfit (and I've seen many bitchfits in raidchat before, but none as epic as this one was), starts it up on Vent too, to which I pulled him into a private channel and demanded to know wth was his issue.

I've been in verbal fiascos before on Vent. I try not to. My record is going four and a half years without tearing someone the equivelant of a 'new hole somewhere', only broken by one 10 man ICC previously and this fiasco I had with my budsman. We exit the instance and go out to see this beautiful drake on the Shaman that won it fair and square with a roll of 100.

Somewhere between his rantage in raidchat and me grabbing him by the collar and dragging him into our private Vent channel, the drake changed hands about six times - between six of his alts and ended up traded to his hunter. Now, I'm dumb, I admit this - it takes me a while to recognise names and guilds and sometimes I don't at all until someone else points it out for me. I was not aware my friend dual-boxed on several different accounts, it only became clear after this incident >_>;

His hunter mounts up on the drake. Cue myself, Skitzo (the priest) and Chan (the druid) going "WTF?!" on Vent.

He then says to me and the Priest and the Druid (also friends of his) in raid chat that he was tired of us always getting ahead of him - better gear, better gems, better weapons...and to meet his six alts on his three other accounts. He laughs at us, calls us complete idiots for trusting him and disappears offline.

Trouble is, this friend casually forgot that he cannot pack up his life in SA quite as easily as transferring several characters to another realm. Flash forward about four months, I'm at work, made door greeter because of an injury I sustained at work (that was funtimes). In comes ex-best friend, with two girls I know who are part of the "EB Games: WoW Women Club" injoke we have going (to date, most of the ladies have quit, there's about 8 of us who are still hooked). Two of them are fellow mount collectors, Sarah and Ally. And he's laying it on thick about how he singlehandedly rolled a 100 on a Twilight Drake in 10man 3 drake OS.

I'm not bitter. I have a 310% speed protodrake. But something made me say it as I was checking the girls' bags on the way out of the store: "You girls are actually aware Charl never won that roll? He dual boxed four accounts, and after his Shaman won it, he traded it over to his huntard." "How do you know that?" "Because hell, like an idiot, I was there. You can ask Skitzo and Chan as backup if need be."

Out strolls the ninja in question, chest all puffed up like his ego is a lower glandular condition. And then he sees me, and Ally and Sarah looking like they're going to beat the holy shizbikkies out of him. And I said it "Fair and square rolls huh? Sounds to me like you were just trying to get into the ladies' knickers, hotshot."

Best friends who turn into ninjas deserve all the freakin' karma that whips around and bites them in the @$$.
It's just a tiny bit sweeter when said best friend lives in the same state you do...

I only met a ninja once, when I was a lowbie on my very first character. We were in SFK or RFK and there was this guy who kept needing every green that dropped. When he ignored and/or did not reply to our group leader's request that he stop doing that, the group leader kicked him out of the group.

When I heard about farmers, I wondered if kicked-guy was a farmer besides a ninja.

Said druid was heals only. I asked if he was rolling for an offspec, he said no. He re-stated it wasjust because he could use polearms. I asked if I could have it, and he said no. He needed it to train his polearm skill up to max. That there is pretty much what set me off. More oft than not I'm a nice guy. I have my bad moments, but I pull myself up when I'm being an ass. The one thing that I absoloutely abhore though, is what happened to me. It defied logic. His logic was, that he needed the polearm in order to train his skill. My logic, was that I needed the polearm in order to be a much, much better DPS than what I currently was.

I can be very evil when I need to be. It finally got to the point where I was spending all my time looking for that druid and hunting him down. So I deleted my characters, and moved to Veco to start over again.

Dual-boxing is when a player is running two applications of WoW (or any game I suppose) and simultaneously playing them using a program that allows one keyboard and mouse to do actions for all the characters being used... if that makes sense, haha. Maybe somebody can help explain it better. By the way, I've seen a 5-man dual boxer on my server several times, all Troll shamans in the exact same gear. Quite funny to watch, especially in the Arena.

As for the limit on needs, I say if it's an upgrade NEED it, and especially need it if you are the only person who can wear it (assuming its an upgrade). It's what the system is there for. If you want, you can pass something along if you think you are winning too much, but you are in no way obligated to do so. It's all luck who wins or loses.

Yes I had a warrior who outgeared me in every possible way, roll on a ring I needed for s***s n giggles. The DK decided he needed to roll on the ring too. IT HAS BLOCK.

At anyrate that's my definition of a ninja. Experience teaches me they're craphats who don't give a bleeding damn about you or anyone, not even their own mother. All they see is Lol shiny. Nothing more, nothing less.
