I know I should be happy they put it in, but they just killed my Moonlight. I have been through thick and thin with this cat. I tamed him twice, once when I was 57, and once again when I realized I really clicked.

Rak'shiri, AKA Moonlight has been with me through everything. We went through the Dark Portal and into the shattered lands of Outlands together. We fought off the Lich King's assault in Northrend. Now? Now he's just some black and white kitty.

Aww...Rak...What have they done to you? Time to go get Shy...
This will be me too lol...I love my minty tiger, but grats to those who wanted the white model and are now able to get it. I'll just have to go and retame Mirage.

Don't like this change one little bit... Now you have all Nelf Hunters with basically the same skin cat. King B owners !?! What was a rare and unique pet, has totally lost its awe to me.

I highly doubt all night elf hunters will have this cat. I certainly won't! :lol:

All starter Nelf's get Starter Pet

Rak S/King B

Apart from the saberteeth... Almost identical.

The colouring and eyes of Rak's as of Live now make him and Shy really unique pets.

I get what you're saying, Makkie, but there are a LOT of night elf hunters created before the starter pets were added that won't have the cat. It'll still be pretty exclusive, especially to non-night elves.

And not everyone likes the starter pets. I've seen ONE baby purple tallstrider since they were added.

I'm confused. Makkie, Rak now has the riding tiger NE skin, not the King Bang skin. King B is still the same flat head kitty. Or am I not understanding?

Either way, I'm still miffed they did this. This kitty was the first pet I really clicked with besides my panther, and having him suddenly changed on me is a bit upsetting. I know why the people who had the pure white stalkers were upset when they gained their stripes. It really does change your pet...

Maybe I'm wrong Azunara.... If so, I apologise for the confusion.. Either way in my book bad call. When I read the text and saw black and white I thought hey, black with white stripes.. but sadly no (kinda black tiger ish). His colours are really distinct and shiny, more so than all other Cats (this is part of what made him special to me). /sigh

Yeah I'm confused as well Makkie.
King B was never that unique. Neither the blue riding tiger NOR the white tiger were unique skins. Shy-rotam is easily obtainable (for the blue riding tiger) and the King B skin was pretty common in Winterspring. Sooo...

Rak'shiri is now actually a unique skin for those who aren't NE starting Hunters post 4.0. But my condolences to those who are losing a favored skin. I would be really upset at that too =(

On another note, now if only http://cataclysm.wow-petopia.com/images ... ackgem.jpg or http://cataclysm.wow-petopia.com/images ... inicet.jpg would become tamable, my life would be complete.

On the bright side, Sarge, you have a whole lot of forewarning to fetch another kitty that won't change, so you can keep the feel of your pet? That way you won't wake up one day and oh crap your kitty's different /right now/.

Yeah, I totally understand. It was the color, the thrill of finding the rare and just accomplishing so much with him that really made him special.

Same.
Rak'shiri was the reason I rolled Hunter originally. The second I hit 57, he actually spawned ontop of me (I was questing out there in Winterspring). I tamed him on the spot. I regretfully abandoned him later, though I never really got over it D:

TigerSkinGemBlack was used by Auriaya's kitties (the summoned ones, not the starting ones), if anyone feels like adventuring into Ulduar :)

This news is quite a crushing blow to me...

Rak'shiri was the first pet I wanted when starting WoW due to his beautiful coloration and impressive build. Also helped that tigers are my favorite animal since I was a toddler, and blue has always been my favorite color. I wanted this beast more then anything. Sure I could have gone for Shy-Rotam but that would mean having to grind three more levels ^_^;

So, the moment I hit 57 I ran to Winterspring for this handsome devil. Camped well over a week for him, but I would not give up. I can't tell you the adrenaline rush I had when he spawned. Between him and two other tigers on me I barely pulled off the tame, but when I did.. he was my guaranteed partner (came with dash 3 if you can remember those days) :)

We went though everything... We passed through the gates into Hellfire together, Traveled the boats into Northrend and fought the undead. We ran dungeons and raids, quested, and even fought the horde together. Hell I even changed my Night Elf's hair to match him ^^;

So it goes in saying that when Cata comes, and Rak'Shiri sheds his beautiful aqua coat, and his eyes no longer glow in the dark.. his whole demeanor shifts for me. No longer does he share resemblance to the Queen of the Frostabers Shy-Rotam, but now shares his looks with all newly bred sabers that beginning hunters are presented with.

Now granted this news is great for other races other then Night Elf... but as a night elf myself I'll be sad to see him change and Shy-Rotam be so easily obtainable. I'll miss my cool blue tiger. I personally hope that they revert this and make King B the mob for the White riding saber skin.

-Hugs her Blue Rak'Shiri-
I don't want him to change :(

I feel the same. This was a bad move from Blizzard, in my opinion. All the other starter pets are readily available and tameable as non-rares if I've understood things correctly. I feel that they should have done the same in this case, and given King Bangalash an update. Rak'shiri has been my buddy since I was lvl 60, and it would just break my heart to have to replace him with Shy-Rotam.

I have to go tame Shy-Rotam, now. I have Rak'Shiri (he was a 'gift' from a very dear friend) and while I accept the color change, I will sorely miss my blue kitty. :(
the very same here. when i first saw him i gave him to an friend. he named him after me..a few days later he found him, he gave him to me...we both named out oets after eachother. i will miss my blue kitty but i know that for most hunters is an very happy and nice change so well mixed feeling :|

Hmm.. What I was thinking while reading all the responses, is that maybe they should switch the skins between Shy-Rotam and Rak'Shiri. That way those with Rak'Shiri will get to keep him, he will be unique once again, and we will get an easily available Night Elf starting kitty.

*nods* That's what I was thinking, Gold...although I can imagine the screaming from the Shy-Rotam owners who just wanted the blue skin...:/
