I, too, recommend an addon. I used NPCScan in my hunts for Loque, Skoll and Gondria, too. If you can, get Overlay too. It shows you pathing routes. Nothing alerts you to something like an addon going off. I almost hit the ceiling the first time it found something for me.

I circled Sholazar like a mad-woman for a good week when I sought Loque. I'd fly clockwise from point to point and after a while, counter-clockwise. I'd hover over a spot now and then. But I was never in one place for too long. During my seeking, I did see one alliance hunter, a night elf, monopolizing the gorilla point. She was there every day that I was. It worried me a little, that she might get him before I did, or what if she had the right idea, camping one spot. Fact is, weeks after Loque was mine, I would do mining runs in the Basin and I would see her there still. No Loque at her side, just a random gorilla.

I found Loque at 7:40 server time, on August 6th of '09. He was prowling about at the point to the south and west of Nesingwary's camp, at the foot of the mountains. I fumbled the tame, horrified that at any moment, I'd be ganked, Loque would be killed or tamed by another. I could not find my tame button. If it weren't for my husband, gently mousing over the tame button for me, I might not have pulled it off. And yes, I did shake for fifteen good minutes after I had him.

I wish you luck in your hunt. Do not give it up, whatever happens. I have a theory that you do not find a spirit beast, they find you when they think you are ready, are worthy to walk with them. It may not be true, but it certainly feels that way to me.

OMG! I had the same thing when I was Loque hunting! A NE hunter just killing Gorillas everytime I went past looking! Was still there after I had Loque too! In hindsight I probably freaked her out landing with Loque next to her, prob made her npcscan go nuts lol.

Was funny during that day whenever I saw her I would /wave, and she would always /wave back! It helps to be friendly :)

It took me two days of two or three quick trips around the basin each day to find Loque. At least two circuits and if you're a miner, you have it made because you can make money at the same time and have something to do. I've heard of people camping the spots where he spawns for days or weeks and it just seems so difficult to do it that way. It doesn't hurt to hover over each spawn point for a couple of minutes to make sure he's not there before moving on. I didn't use an add-on but it may have helped a bit that I did my first search right after the realm reset. That's 6 AM eastern, by the way. My favorite comment that I've read about Loque, and it helped me a lot in my brief searches, is that you don't find Loque; when he's ready, he'll find you.

When i'll ding 76 with my hunter, i'll start to search for him, i really like Sholazar Basin, its my favourite place in northrend, right now im in a huge server which is locked, so i guess i will move to a new, small one to tame the rare beasts.

The first 2 days of looking for Loque were normal fly around finding nothing days. After that though it seems hunters were comeing out of the woodwork looking for him. The other day there were 5 of us at the same time talking in general. It's gotten to the point where I've decided to take a break for a few days and focus on my troll mage for a while.

I can't believe no one has pointed out the small little spawn point up in the northern part of Sholazar, the little bone field (because my name remembering sucks).

That's where I caught mine and I danced around like a moron in real life for the next 3-4 minutes before I remembered I had to feed him so he didn't run away. cx

Pets don't run away anymore if you don't feed them! They just do less damage.

And thank goodness for that!

I tamed a rare, got disconnected, and came back only to find myself petless.

I also exist on DeviantArt.
