I don't think there is, or will ever be, a mob with that particular skin. The spectral skin is just copied over from Arcturis, and while you can apply it to a normal bear model, it was never done - because probably it was never intended.Royi wrote:Oh, and I'm waiting for this bear skin to come out:

Re: tanking pet?
I'm really looking forward to trying out these piggies! I wish they had an ability that would help me out more, though... unless it works with the mm bleed ability?? I don't know if I want to be mm or survival but that's a whole 'nother post
I will probably hit up RFK or wherever they hang out and grab some X) The very first thing I have to do though is get my spotted saber cat... I am slowly becoming obssessed with it...

Could not find any better pets for tanking than turtle and crock atm.
At least my crock was able to solo Baron Geddon when I was afk :O) Took him 17 min tho but without any healing or help:O)

Re: tanking pet?
Hmm - crocs have nothing special other than a slowing ability, which doesn't help on fairly stationary fights like Baron Geddon. So, one could say that any properly specced Tenacity pet would have worked just as well as he did.Bubu wrote:Could not find any better pets for tanking than turtle and crock atm.

Anyways, I figured I might as well post what pets/specs I use to solo the likes of ZG, MC, and various BC heroics including H-MgT.
Nothing beats a turtle or beetle for straightforward boss fights. For your average trash pack, I find that bears work best. Not only does your bear get some additional threat early on, but is also better able to mitigate damage. Gorillas are also a really good idea for some bosses, when you need to interrupt a cast on a healing spell to down a boss (doesn't work on Sulfuron Harbinger, since two of the healers will cast simultaneously every time someone drops below 50%. You need to keep up the damage until all four healers are OOM to win that fight). If you can manage to nab one, and don't mind speccing it in a funny way, I find that spirit beasts are also pretty darn useful if the boss fight doesn't involve adds or an overwhelming amount of tank damage. I like to use one when dealing with Baron Geddon.
For my fifth pet once Cata comes out, I'm debating whether to bring a chimaera to destroy trash packs that don't hit hard, or a tenacity pet that will provide a DPS benefit such as a shale spider or worm (My worm's spec will most likely be changed to the one I drew up for my future shale spider).

you guys are getting me so excited about piggly wigglies!! *happy dance* I will probably spend my entire first day back just collecting pets instead of leveling! X)

Used to be my favorite pet, then I had to abandon him when someone announced over the general channel late one night that Arcturis had spawned. I've been pretty terrible about leveling all my new pets

Re: tanking pet?
@Cialbi: that helps a lot!! After what everyone has been saying, I figure I will need to go out and get multiple tank pets for various situations (elite mob, regular questing, etc). I figure I will use my piggy for regular questing, bear for running myself through instances/whatever group pulls I may need and a turtle for elite quests and things. Is there a pet that is best for 5 mans like the wolf was? The new cat ability is pretty awesome but there are others out there! I'm not concerned with raiding since I don't plan on participating in raids, really.
Re: tanking pet?
If you are doing LFD 5-mans, there isn't a "best pet" technically. Both Cunning and Ferocity pets do comparable damage. What it comes down to is your group make up and what buffs are provided. Cats and spirit beast provide the best buff, but if you have a dk, warrior, shaman or other hunter providing it, then another pet would be better. I tend to carry around Thor(worm), Wolf(who has been with me since I was lvl 10), Kilalurak or Amorak(spirit beasts) and some other dps pet. Of late it has been whatever I most recently tamed, but before that it was typically Ijaba(hyena), Borealis(raptor) or Blitz(buzzard). I'm probably going to add Yuraliria(slithid) and Cedric(bird of prey) to the rotation when I hit 85. I've started become attached.Miraga wrote:@Cialbi: that helps a lot!! This week I'm leveling a wasp for our last try pre cataclysm on the Lich King. We are light on classes that can stun in our raid line up, so I'm hoping the wasp will help with that phase of the fight.
Let us know which piggy you get!

Re: tanking pet?
*twitches* I'm so used to getting crap for not having a wolf or at LEAST a cat in a 5 man that having a lot of options is overwhelming me! This new freedom is so scary. I can even be BM and be like... decent... I think I need to go lay down for a minute.Akycha wrote:If you are doing LFD 5-mans, there isn't a "best pet" technically. Aaaaand I'm pretty set on THIS piggly! http://www.wow-petopia.com/look/boarski ... mored.html The new raptor/serpent special thing is also looking pretty good to me for a 5 man right now. Are cunning and ferocity pets close on damage? I know that the cunning ones were mostly for PvP.

As far as what pet to use, you can go with a Cunning or Ferocity pet for more DPS, or a Tenacity pet for saving the day in case the tank dies

If you really want to bring the best pet possible, Malazee has plenty of info on this thread, giving you various resources. I personally use the RaidChecklist addon that Anyia developed, and it really saves a lot of trouble if you know which pets cover which buffs backwards and forwards.
Oh, and if you decide to spec Beast Mastery, I highly recommend taming a chimaera. Froststorm Breath is a channeled AoE that your chimaera can use in or out of combat, and even when moving! That, and your chimaera will regen most of the focus cost by the time it finishes channeling, meaning you can spam the ability. Just try not to clip it with a Kill Command - that will make your pet cancel Froststorm Breath to execute Kill Command instead.
I think they're pretty comparable in damage, yes. On the one hand, you have Rabid, Spider's Bite, Call of the Wild, and Shark Attack for Ferocity. Yet, Cunning isn't that bad at all with Owl's Focus, Feeding Frenzy, Wolverine Bite, and Roar of Recovery. I'd say that Cunning has definitely improved, considering that Owl's Focus is more powerful with the nerfs to Bestial Discipline and Go for the Throat, in addition to the synergy with Wild Hunt. Also, Roar of Recovery feels more like a second Fervor rather than a second mana pot.Miraga wrote:Aaaaand I'm pretty set on THIS piggly! http://www.wow-petopia.com/look/boarski ... mored.html The new raptor/serpent special thing is also looking pretty good to me for a 5 man right now. Overall, I think the difference is negligible enough for you to decide based on what pet brings the best buff or debuff that your group lacks, or which pet you like the best. Just don't raid with a Tenacity pet if you ever do get into raiding

At 80 and 85 right now cunning and ferocity are on par. That is one of the nice changes in cataclysm. Both Cunning and Ferocity are viable for top dps which allows you access to pretty much all the buffs and debuffs.
BM all the way!!

Re: tanking pet?
Someone figured out how to tame one of those piggies while it's on fire today! Not sure if that sounds interesting, but I may be willing to roll a Tauren on some US server after I take my last final for the quarter on Wednesday. Just send me a PM.Akycha wrote:Aww!
