Just ask anyone who had him- first they made him a vanity pet with no skills. Then when it was realized people would still keep him -and- they broke existing hunter pets; they turned Garwhal back into a white worg/warg.

They did this all in under a week if I remember right- now surely Blizzard has known about these other vanity pets for FAR LONGER and ... nothing.

Why?

Because most hunters aren't using the exploit pets- and those that are, probably are being dealt with.

So can we stop with the doomsayer threads? You're probably all making our lurker think Petopia is full of erf, masochists or whatever.

Not at all. I'm not doomsaying, I'm looking at this from a programmer's perspective and pondering on Blizzard's move. We've been comparing this conundrum to that of Garwal's fix, and the blatant fact that remains is that this isn't just one pet, this is 15+ mob codes Blizzard has to go in and deal with. It's an entirely unique situation. And just because it's not on our 'list o pets' doesn't mean there aren't more pets out there we haven't grabbed... including damage-buffed ones. So no, going in and breaking each and every pet's code is unlikely, simply because it isn't ONE specific mob.

As far as the week goes, this hasn't exactly gotten a lot of press. I saw a wee lurker try to spread the word in http://wow.joystiq.com/2010/12/06/catac ... 1#comments but Mania's silence and the lack of info on Petopia itself means not a lot of hunters actually KNOW about this glitch. Along with the release of Cata, I'm sure this is in Blizzard's mind as something to fix, but they should probably focus on making the expansion work right now.

You do know they also made Garwhal untameable right? It wouldn't be that hard I suppose to go and do that for these pets- then fix it. Or just remove the pets. I mean obviously while not as glaringly evident as the Garwhal incident, this has most likely come to Blizzard's attention- ERGO the Lurker we have.

So Obviously A: Blizzard doesn't care so long as we're not truly exploiting [IE damage buffs]
B: Blizzard doesn't think this is a major concern so it is so far down on their list it might never be seen- mean it took what 2/3 years for deadzone to be removed? And that was a major bug?

If Blizzard is going to fix anything it most likely will be the damage exploit pets; everything else is just sparkly vanity. And I am going back to the Oil Wolf argument-

on Rosalyn I tamed Ghost wolf -> Burning Boar -> Oil Wolf; all by using the Abandon script macro. All of the tames were the same as if I had gotten an Ally to summon the oil wolf instead of me doing the tame solo. IE the pet disappears just as the tame finishes. So yeah I'm kinda saying everyone is just making one big hyperbole outta this.
