Originally, when I heard about demon dogs being tameable, I was extremely excited. I wanted to get the white one, and went all the way into Kara to tame myself a ghostly white dog. .... and released it not more than a couple hours later. It just didn't grow on me, and I couldn't really bond with it. So when I saw my 'random pet' was a demon dog, I figured that it would be more of the same: boredom, disappointment, and leave the pet off again fairly soon after.
How wrong I was!
I considered getting the Kara tame (because I do love me a challenge-tame; I may ask specifically for it the next time!) but in the end, I decided that leaving and returning, resetting every time it was the wrong boss, wasn't my idea of fun. So I dug into my bank, pulled out my Direbrew's Remote, and programmed myself into the bar. From there, it was a hop, skip, and a jump (and a little wandering) to find myself at the bloodhounds, and a quick tame later, and the pet was mine.
People? Meet Bloodlust.
Bloodlust, as I said above, is a 'bloodhound' mob from BRD. I absolutely *love* the colors, and got this nice closeup picture to be able to hopefully highlight them a bit better for people.
First thing was first: Bloodlust accompanied me on my archaeology trip, in order that I could have some company on them and could recieve protection against the evil mobs from Northrend and vanilla. As I was digging aruond, a little rogue happened to pop out, wave, pet the dog, and continue on his way. I declare that a success for other people's liking at the very least!
Now, a few things to note: as a soloing pet, I'm finding Bloodlust has a cuople disadvantages. For one, his Jaw Lock holds the enemy in place ,but it also prevents him from doing anything else in order to channel it. I would strongly suggest that Jaw Lock be used on a macro or otherwise on a casting bar. For soloing, I'm finding I much prefer having him use his growl and attacks. This means that there are many other abilities I would prefer to Jaw Lock, and makes him undesirable for general soloing purely stat0wise. Likewise for instances: I can see it being helpful as a CC of sorts, but it doesn't really last long enough to be more than an emergency 'helper'.
I can't speak much for the use of it in PVP, as I am not a PVP fan. I would suspect that it could be much more useful there!
Now, for looks, as I said, I'm quite fond of the color combination. While I think a pure white (not ghostly) dog is still top of my list, Bloodlust's red and yellow are extremely eye-catching, and enjoyable to be around. It definitely gives white a run for its money. In addition, Bloodlust's sounds I find to be very enjoyable. Now, keep in mind I also find the thunder of Chromaggus, the growling of my pet hydra, the cat headshake-slobber, and the Devilsaur-rawrs to be enjoyable, so your mileage may vary on that. The little hop-skip that he does is endlessly adorable, and gives me a warm fuzzy every single time he does it.
All in all, I'm extremely satisfied with his looks and sounds, but with the ability having so little use in my bank, I suspect that while I'll keep him and run with him for a while, he will likely not get enough time in instances and end up being a 'kept pet' for a while. Which is better than I can say for his ghostly predecessor, at the very least!
