I think Blizzard did it on purpose so that everyone that wants a spirit beast for spirit mend can get one relatively easy, I mean, they made so that he can't be killed (by less than a big bunch that won't even bother since there's no loot or achievment involved) for a reason.

Well there are a few reasons he is easier to find of them all....
1) Noone really cares much for Vashj, let alone cares to go that far out, so unless you read the boards and know what you are looking for, he gets left alone.
2) Because of number one or because of his nerfbat, noone wants to go out of the way just to kill him to spite hunters, as it seems the nerfbat debuff is targeted specifically at people trying to kill him, as it doesn't really seem to affect our tames at all.
3) His little drop off the radar bit where he phases out (stealths) or what not, it doesn't even show up on track hidden, considering I always have that up and running. That makes it hard to spot him and even if you do and he dissappears, he doesn't exactly reappear near the point he disappeared.
So those 3 could be why you are more easily finding him. Other than that, I've no idea.
