Re: Chromaggus? A hard tame? Seriously?
I two-manned BWL - myself as a level 85 haphazard BM hunter and my significant other as a level 85 dual-specced prot/fury warrior.
The hardest part was Razorgore; I was very impressed by my level 82 bear's ability to tank and hold all 40 spawned orcs while Razorgore was slowly destroying those silly eggs.
Ebonroc was no picnic either, although we taunt-traded with Distracting Shot / Taunt and finally got him down.
The actual tame was sort of an anti-climax; it was harder taming the Beast than Chromaggus (who did manage to cast Brood Affliction: Bronze, the jerk, but it didn't proc a stun). He took almost none of my health off, and my gear is all unenchanted quest greens and blues, so I'd say that most people should have no trouble at level 85.
Then we two-manned Nefarian, which was highly entertaining, because we were both hardcore raiders in classic... and often wondered at what level we'd be able to "duo" him. Question answered!
I will say that this was one of the nicer challenges I've tried in Cata... I'm not big on camping pets anymore (five years of camping pets? I am done!), so it was really enjoyable to do something that took me back to the good ol' days and was a bit tricky to boot.

On a slightly related note: Nef's class calls suck when your "raid" consists of nothing but hunters. And I am highly amused that they added one for DK's. =D
Thanks to Pengupuff for the sig!
Re: Chromaggus? A hard tame? Seriously?
Personal for me the hardest part was finding someone to run with me XD not the taming itself.
We decided to 2 man It at 80 a couple of days before cata came out.
Me as hunter and a prot/ret pala friend/guildy.
first boss went fine it was just slow killing all the eggs.
second one went good too tho my friend died from the bomb the exact moment that the boss died.
The vapor room of hell was just annoying XD
rest went down pretty fine with the exception of one of the drakes (the one that heals, cant remember the name) took some time to figure it out with distracting shot and pet tanking.
I ended up ninja pulling chromy but tame went like a charm
and i still love my draconian dog to death i am so happy with it

Haven't done it myself so I can only go by other ppl's accounts however, if I ever do go after Chromag, you can be quite certain that I will do everything in my power to up my chance of success - potions, core hound, haste food, you name it. Because it's 100% necessary? No, because other people are taking time to give me a run thru, and so I want to err on the side of caution to ensure we get it on the first try... and also if I do fail, I don't want to be wondering "what if I'd taken a little more time to prepare?"
In re: offensiveness, I don't think Twila intended her post to be that way, but I can say it is annoying to have your "I tamed xxx!" post soon followed by a "Taming xxx is easy!!" post.

I'm glad a few understand. That was what irked me most and I agree. I wanted to be safe than sorry when I tamed Chromag, especially after my first attempt on a different toon.Worba wrote:Haven't done it myself so I can only go by other ppl's accounts however, if I ever do go after Chromag, you can be quite certain that I will do everything in my power to up my chance of success - potions, core hound, haste food, you name it. Well I'm sorry. But it wasn't aimed at anyone
I didn't even read your post when I made mine. So I didn't single your post out Tal, it's most posts here I see people saying they gathered all these extra supplies to make sure the tame goes down... yet I still have to ask why?
What really made me post this was taking to another hunter in game who had it and was braging about the tame, explained they made a full haste gear set JUST for this tame, along with haste pots and the whole nine yards... and it made my head tilt and go WHY? Why blow that much gold on AH buying and questing for gear with haste for such an easy tame! If tame beast was as long as it use to be I'd understand, I had a haste set myself, but going that fare -just- to tame this pup?
Aside my guild getting the pup.. I on my druid tank and a friend whos a pally healer have been offering hunters runs though to tame it for a fee or a nice tip. We've yet to really have any issue even with the low levels. Just tell them as soon as we pull the lever and pup runs out, shoot once and tame beast right off. It's gone smoothly for all but two thus fare, one who sat and had to search for their tame beast skill while the pup was being occupied, and another who had a full slot of pets (and we make clear to say have one open before the run).
Again, sorry that by chance I made a post after listening to the bragger in game :/

It's okay. But we have explained why. People take extra precautions. If you read where I posted my first experience, it explains why. He didn't come quietly. He popped his stuff on us while I was taming. So my second time around, I wanted to be safe so it wouldnt take us 20 minutes again.
