The Badlands quests are pretty fun. I did them a few weeks ago on Karzix. The goat punching one is the best. It could just be my warped sense of humor, but sending those billy goats soaring through the air was glorious.

Hee, I caught the Azu reference when I first read it! :D

I missed the Azu reference, but the billy goat quest is definitely awesome. XD

I have debated about starting one of these challenges with a fresh hunter, but I fear I'll get bored again, especially since the higher in level you go the longer each level takes to complete.

The reference is where Sol first grabs Pamela's doll. She talks about this ghost druid/kitty she heard about, though Sol doesn't believe it exists. :D

And they do take forever. D:

I'm kind of liking the new style I'm doing with Rulian, although the pet gallery I have for Rose is really neat too. The problem I'm having with Rulian's post atm is that she's just gotten new stuff that I want to show up but she's not quite at that point in the story. XD

Nicely done Azu! Can't help but feel sorry for poor Lillith :( *offers doggie treats and a pillow*

As for my challenge... well I'm not so much bored with it as I just got caught up with stuff on Varethyn and Linkarien. Since I seem to have been forgotten, and the fact that current raid-leading and stuff is slowly dripping down the tubes anyway (it took them 2 hours to down Magmaw on normal last night??), a continuation is looking likely soon :)

Now if only my friends would stop pestering me to play Magicka with them...

Dear Journal,

Gidwin sent me a letter recently, he said that Lillith was doing okay for now. He said she misses me, I'll have to visit her sometime. Till then, I've been resting in Badlands. It's way too hot and desert dust coats everything and it's awful. Nonetheless, Tira is well used to it and will occasionally perch above Buzzard and spread her wings, giving the poor guy shade.

The goblins at Fuselight, not surprisingly, required our help to take care of some ogres. So we were off to do that.

In case you were curious, they smell like rot and nasty things, these ogres. Buzzard looked miserable, sneezing and trying to get rid of the smell. Tira was eager enough to kill them though, frantically flapping back to me when they died, head tilted, eager to please.

Once returned, we were told to shove Billy Goats off of cliffs.

It was highly amusing, they gave this little "MAAAaaaaa" sound aas they went down, and there was this "sploitch!" kind of sound as they sort of made this wet implosion from the crash. Tira gave a triumphant crow as they went down, flapping her wings and swirling in the air dizzily. And Buzzard followed them down, lighting a few on fire as they fell. All in all, it was a fun time by all, pushing goats off cliffs.

Once done, we all went to meet this person named Rhea, who wanted us to deliever some goggles for her experiment. We were running, and then-

Everywhere. Black dragons took to the sky, giving wheedling calls. Their hatchlings stuck close to the ground, meandering. Tira fluffed up her feather, giving a rattling hiss. Damn dragons. They hurt my friends, they killed Sparky. They were all going to suffer.

Making my way towards Rhea was supposed to be, she told me to keep the googles, requiring I collected dragon eggs and slay whelplings. Both sounded easy, so I set to work. Something about her had startled Buzzard, and he had stuffed himself deep in my bags before we met her.

We went to kill the dragons, Tira rising into the air and taking them there, ripping at their wing membrane and pulling them down from the sky.

((Interestingly enough, Tira would fly on up into the sky and fight the dragon there as opposed to waiting for it to land. I don't know if that's intended or not, but it's pretty cool.))

Finished, we returned to Rhea. She turned, saying she was no ordinary goblin. First, she cast a spell in a language I didn't quite catch, and revealed a black dragon broodmother, trapped and cloaked from her flight. She tried to tell me that it wasn't as cruel as it seemed, but I could care less. It's what they deserve.

Furthermore though, she said quietly, "Varistrasz, you may come out, now." Buzzard peered out of the bag, giving a soft and wondered growl. He struggled to form the words he wanted to say, but haltingly, he told the goblin: "Buzzard, now. Solaira, my friend." Rhea looked at him with surprise, and then nodded, telling me if she is to trust me, then I was to retrieve the eggs, so she could find her uncorrupted black. Buzzard perched on my shoulder, nudging me, and Tira cawed, ready.

We went in, and Tira kept her distracted while I stole the eggs.

Once done, she turned to me, and muttered one more spell, revealing her true form and explaining herself to be a servant of the aspect, Alexstrasza.

She told us to see Dr.Blam, and we went off to do as she ordered, carrying the black dragon samples. He studied the samples, but said he couldn't do too much until I took care of the trogg problem. So I hopped onto one of his "Blam Turrets" and got ready for the swarm.

We pulled through, and told us to go to the Dustwind Dig. All the samples were corrupted, but he guessed some titan artifacts could fix them up real quick. I'll check it out tomorrow, I'm still acclimating to the heat, and it's mid day, dangerous to be out. Till then, journal.

Thanks! I really like it too. I was pretty sure at one point the seagulls were bugged and would fly in the sky to attack flying mobs, too.

I wonder if it has to do with the mob's first habits; Tira flew in the sky prior to her tame.

Dear Journal,

Tira and I ventured towards the Dustwind Dig. Tira seemed pretty fixated on the pig though, and I had a few letters from Scylla, Ghost, Shadwyn and Fiona I wanted to take time to read and reply to, so we spent time at the dig. They were telling stories when arrived, and told this rather interesting one about this jittery cat that would do errands for them. Said she kept looking over her shoulder and watching out for gnomes, and one day, she vanished. Didn't come back to the camp. They assumed she got eaten by the wildlife, though one dwarf fancied they saw her being dragged away by these two figures, a short one and a cat. Personally, I thought they had been out in the heat too long.

In other news, Scylla and the folks at Westfall have beaten back the Defias and are resting while they can. Intel though says they'll come back for another strike, so they're enjoying the peace while they can. Shadwyn has taken a liking to Jitters and she stays with him and helps him with his tasks. And Lillith looks good as new, but they all know, and I know, she can never leave the Chapel. But she's enjoying her time there, they guards treat her very nicely because of her help, and she plays catch with Gidwin and keeps some of the guards company.

Finally though, it was time to move on. We had to collect several artifacts as well as take some shadowstout. Took a whiff of the stuff- ew. That is nasty, horrible stuff. How do dwarves take that stuff? It'd probably kill me or something. Tira seemed fascinated, but after a sip, she recoiled and gave a furious cry. Buzzard tried to lit it on fire, but I put an end to that before it started.

Several more dead dwarves later and we had our Shadowstout. He told us to go to the Fortress of something or other, but first we had to collect artifacts. Which entailed killing multiple Horde diggers. I don't really have much against the Horde, (Except orcs. They can all rot too.) but I did as ordered nonetheless. Tira enjoyed herself, and Buzzard is thriving in the warmth.

Huh. Someone was...out here a smidge too long without water. ((I thought this pretty neat, never seen anything like it before.)) We collected what was needed, and returned. Mr. Durdin gave me two pawns, looking up at me expectantly and informing me I was to make them useful. But first, I needed tablets. There was a fire elemental guarding them, but he wasn't exactly strong, per se.

We explored the tomb and found that the jade key split into several little bits. After some thinking and a quick hint from the puzzle, we shuffled all the statues so they faced inward. There was a flash of light and they melded together to the one key. We heard a "clik" sound.

Then, we had to focus all the Sentinels pawns so they all faced each other, and eventually, the beam of light led to another red statue on the other side of the room. Done, we looked at the guardians. But when we placed the statue inside the Sentinel, it would crazy and tried to kill us!

Maybe the Warden will leave us be...
WoWScrnShot_061311_165433.jpg

Nope.

We found a chest in the room, though, and it contained a disk. We returned to Dr.Blam, and it activated, slowly but surely purifing a black dragon egg! I wanted it to cleanse Buzzard of the Cultist Corruption, but the device whizzed off without a second thought. Buzzard didn't look too disappointed, at least.

Our next order was to take the egg to Rhea in the Dragon's Mouth, but we got flagged down by these campers. They were eager to tell us their tale, so we sat down and listened. The first was a man named Theldurin the Lost, a dwarf. Well, it turns out he punched a bunch of rock elementals, then Deathwing. I think he's broken.

The nearby gnome started protesting, demanding I heard his story. So I went over and did so, and evidently it was cloudy. So the gnome threaten to throw him to Kalimdor, and then was...tinkering with his World Shrinker Device. So...

...This happened. He drew it out for me, explained he then searched the clouds for Deathwing. He discovered that Deathwing was not in the clouds, but the sun, grabbed him, and threw him. The last person, Martek the Exiled, explained both stories were not to par and complained about the lack of babes. Thus, he told me his story. Apparently, blood rained from the skies. He picked a hot babe -Night Elf?- and flew through the rocks towards Deathwing.

Well. It turns out the motorcycle had flying capabilities, and off it went, into the sky. He wanted to beat Deathwing in a knife fight, but the other two interrupted his story. They asked if I had any stories, so I told them about the events in Redridge, (They asked to see Keeshan's Bandana) and about Seventeen's bravery in the Bay, and about Speck's capture. They were rather impressed with my adventures, and gave Tira some scraps. We set off towards the Dragon's Mouth, and delievered the egg.

Tira looked eager to rest, so till we meet Eric, journal.

I lol'd. Excellent wording there
As for the dwarf skelly. I remember a few of those dotted around for Alliance quests, such as Mangeclaw in Dun Morogh if I remember rightly. I guess while the quests have been removed the skeletons are still there. I like that, and how you mentioned this one in your story, it adds flavour to the environment :)

I make every thing as I go, so I weave all sorts of weird things into there. And it does. I, at first, assumed it was a player corpse. Then I got a closer look when I didn't get a tooltip, then I noticed the face was weird and investigated further.

Both Tira and Buzzard refused to get out of the pic, though. I had to shoo them out. :\

Dear Journal,

We talked with Eric "The Swift". He and his brothers wanted to work with me and try to deal with some ogres. Tira was startled by Olaf though, so she flapped off and stayed by Rhea in the camp. Buzzard wanted to come along at least.

So, we set to work slaughtering ogres. They weren't too thrilled to go into the cave though, but Tira was. Buzzard flew off to get her help and soon enough, she was by my side as the others fled. We had to kill ogres and collect silk and meat.

Finished with our work, the dwarves came back for us. Tira squawked at them angrily, fluttering off. Rhea told us our mission was to kill Kalaran the Annihiliator, a dragon who once resided in the Gorge, but had flown off long ago after an adventurer had helped his sinister purposes.

Our next misson was to find and kill General Jirakka and Moldarr and put them in their place. We entered New Kargath, the Horde base, and slipped through the ranks of fighting orcs and dragons to hunt down Moldarr. He was holed in one of the huts, but we moved in to destroy him.

Rhea's next order for the Vikings and I was to hunt down and kill Nyxondra. The Broodmother had gone insane after watching her children stolen and killed and experimented on. Rhea wanted us to put her out of her suffering.

We killed her, though I felt pity for her. I know how it feels, to know you're going to lose those you love dearly. She and her Flight might've taken friends and family from me, but Rhea and I did take her children. Light protect Nyxondra. As for the rest of her Flight, though...

Rhea wanted me to meet her at the egg's hiding spot so that she could move it. I waited in the bushes while she went in. Wing beats filled the sky as this huge dragon flew down from the sky. He gave a roar, and Rhea begged for mercy, so that the egg would live. But the dragon refused, getting ready to char the whole cavern. Tira let out a furious cry, flapping down from the sky and attacking the dragon, trying to protect Rhea, despite my orders.

I ran to the cave in hopes of survivors...

And it turns out the dragon, Deathwing, didn't kill the Pure Egg.

It was one of Rhea's. Dr. Blam, who was as close to Rhea as I was, had hid the egg, and gave me something in a small bag. From within, there was a shudder and a crack, and I watched as a young red dragon whelp creeped out from it. It gave a soft little chirp, nuzzling my hand and looking at Buzzard with a toothy grin, immediately recognizing the whelp as a former Red. It tilted its head, and said in a squeaky, quiet voice, "My name is Charistrasz. Pleased to meet you."

With that, he buried himself deep in my bags to sleep. So I lost Tira, but gained Charistrasz as a friend.

Dear Journal,

I miss Tira.

---

Dear Journal,

I wandered for a while, flew down to see Seventeen's grave. From there, I decided to travel to Kalimdor, just to get away for a while. I had no place to go, nor did I know where to go. I ventured through a swamp, then through a desert like place, except most of it was underwater. I saw a lot of neat creatures, but none really spoke out to me. I kept traveling, swimming through the water. Finally. I found myself in another desert called Tanaris. The goblins told me of serpents made of hard gemstone that glitter in the sun, and I knew I had to at least check it out. So I ventured towards where I guessed their location was.

It was an endless expanse of white sand, overhead a purple sky. Pretty, I guess. Lonely. Very lonely. There were hyenas howling to the sky, ogres wandering the desert, basilisks slinking in the sand...but no snakes. I couldn't see a single gleaming scale.

Just as I was ready to admit defeat, I see it rise from the pale sand. A crimson shape, gleaming in the sun, rearing its head and looking around.

Double Post go:

Dagger was a pain to find. First, I had to run down from Searing Gorge to Rachet to Tanaris. Searing Gorge was annoying, and I saw several rares I lost because I was busy running. The Kalimdor trip itself wasn't too bad, except for Thousand Needles because I had to hop from rock to rock and make sure I jumped in the water or I would die of falling. And then, I spent ten minutes hunting for the little bugger, because there's like one in the zone and it's invisible or something, because I circled the proposed spawn area forever before I found ONE.
