Haha concept time. Sorry I've been skimpy on any thing lately but my art show Overload is this weekend so yeah after that I'll be back to work.

I started playing Portal 2 a few days ago and I do really like the quotes the turrets say I liked them in Portal so I like them in the 2nd one. Anyway when I hear a line I like I think about how I can animate it and well I like so many of the turrets lines I have decided I will animate some after Overload next week I will have plenty of time to do so.

Thing is the turrets well while they are quite emotive I think a more android type robot would suit it a bit more so I did three or so pages of concept doodles. This was the best one it's still not final of course but I think I'm getting there.

Anyway I kinda based the head of Dorosseru from Fireball I think shes from. I like the head of her so I kinda borrowed it haha. I think for the mouth it will show when she talks like her face plate is a screen or something. I gave it hair to match her mouth in giving the impression of it being female. I kept the tripod legs to keep the feel that it's still a robot.

I wanted to put something up showing the stages I go though when I make a picture. Why did I use Dawn because I'm in kinda a Pokemon high at the moment.

1) Roughs
I always do my roughs with pencil and paper. I'm no good at doodleing on a tablet. A skill I should learn I know.

2) Clean up
Clean up is when you use another piece of paper and make a clean version of the rough. It's a animation term. Depending on how I feel and how I want it too look like I can do it in three ways with Pencil, Ink pen or on Inking on Photoshop with the Pen tool. This is the drawing you will see. If I'm animating I always use Pencil it's how I was taught at animation school.

3) Colour.
I can do this 3 ways too but I am only showing one here. I mostly do it in Photoshop but sometimes I use Copic markers or Pencil. I would like to get more Copics one day >.>

I, and I suspect many people here, are on MoP overload at the moment and are checking the forums less frequently. As a result I hadn't even looked at the art forum for a couple of weeks when I used to check it daily. It'll settle down again soon
