I know, I'm rehashing an old argument, but I've noticed even outside Petopia, this has been a big discussion.
Azunara wrote: Eh. Just drop it. It isn't worth arguing. Those who want spirit beasts, be happy. Those who want ghost wolf, be happy. Everything is fine and dandy, let's just discuss how Karma, er, Karoma is evil. :)
The problem is exactly that.
This isn't a ghost *wolf* in the actual mechanics of things, and I think that's what's stirring people up. Many people wanted this skin as a wolf to use, unfortunately, now it's a spiritbeast and relocated to only 1/3 of the Hunters out there.

The ghost wolf saga is a sore spot for many hunters, not just Beastmasters. While many people are thrilled that this skin is back, let's be sure to remember that not everyone is gonna is gonna be dandy D: Man SV and MM will be disappointed that perhaps a very desired skin for their own companion is no longer an option despite it's reappearance.

And I'm not picking on Azunara's words, I'm not trying to pick a fight. I'm just saying everyone should just take a step back and remember that sometimes things change in Azeroth; sometimes for the bad, for the good, and oftentimes... in a gray area like this @_@

Speaking of Krush, I tried camping that guy but.... ugh after camping Loque for 5 weeks straight, I still can't stand Scholazar Basin.

I think either best bet is to do the following: Make the spirit beast skin different. Slightly. Make it purple-y instead. Place the real ghost wolf model back somewhere tamable so anyone can get it as a regular ghost wolf. From there, if you're still not happy, dual spec BM. Only costs 100 gold now in Cata, if I heard right.

It's quite possible it's a placeholder anyway. It might not be, but it also could be.

They're making such an effort to get as many unused skins from the database as possible into the game, I'm fairly sure this guy will keep the look he has. I don't know this with any certainty, I'm just reading the situation with other skins that are appearing wherever possible.

I'm really not sure what the issue is. The original ghost wolf was never meant to be tameable. People who did so were just lucky to be there at the right time and get away with something unintended. It's not a situation you can fairly use a precedent or standard. I think they made the right call on positioning this guy in the spirit beast family.

As has been pointed out, anyone can take BM as their second spec and enjoy this beast in solo play or in town, even if they want a different spec for raiding. Same as with any of the other cool spirit beast looks. And Cataclysm really seems to be encouraging hunters to use a variety of pets more often. A few people might want nothing but to use this look to the exclusion of all other pets, but I think that's an extreme case and I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard doesn't go out of their way to cater for it.

I could not agree more. :3 People should really try to look at it a bit more from the developers' point of view. But in the end, bliz cannot please everyone.

All the back and forth, so much negativity about the skin and how it should be changed going on is a big downer.

I LOVE the spirit wolf look, just as it is. I don't want it to change or be a placeholder for something else. I will finally be able to have a chance at the pet that inspired my hunter to exist; if someone doesn't like it then all they have to do is not tame it! Why try and tear it down or ruin it for those that adore it just the way it is?

Negativity in this community always saddens me. :(

In the future let's try to stay positive, and if you absolutely must discuss a grievance then preferably do it by PM so that the public boards don't absorb the tense atmosphere. That's not saying you should go and harass people privately, but instead try to talk it out somewhere that's not on a thread.

So I did a google search on "Karoma" and came up with Aromatherapy and Ancient therapy sites, a coffe site, teas, and other restfull and relaxing sites.
I think this is a Great name for this wolf since it (more then not) brings a measure of peace to hunters who have wanted this skin but were unable to aquire it.

I know there are some people out there who would have much rather this wonderful animal to be of the wolf family, especially those who do not want to be tied into BM spec to show this beauty off.
I am jusy happy that Blizzard has decided to re-introduce this skin into the game...I am mean, they could not have, right?

I am pretty sure there are going to be al ot of people powering leveling just to camp this rare, amongst the many others that have been introduced into the game.

As for ghost worms and sabers being made as spirit beasts. tbh, I am just happy anytime they add new pets/families. Not everyone has to be happy, not everyone likes the same pets, everyones different, and the more pets/families out there the more oppertunities we have find our perfect pet.

Now to re-figure out my 25slots! With all these pets being added, I might have to open up a zoo!

I don't think Blizz would/should change the old ones, though.

Personally I'm torn, don't know if I'll go camp and cry on my server there. While I've been secretly very jealous of those who have the ghost wolf looking wolves, I've never taken out pixel jealousy and hatred to the other hunters.

I just don't see the point of pouting about which family skill the puppy has (or it's ancestors). Agi/Str buff or Crit buff. All the same for me (and my raid groups usually).
If they change it so be it.

Everyone is a critic and you can't please everyone. Ever.

If people talked about it in PMs then the people complaining wouldn't have an audience (or a soap box, if you will)... where is the fun in that? :P (btw... I am not picking a fight, because I would never do that. I am just showing you why people will never stop posting on a thread just to start sending PMs.)

People complain and act negative on subjects on message boards to get people to LOOK at them griping.

I can not remember any instance of me going to a message thread and getting excited about what the thread was talking about and then seeing someone being negative about whatever was being discussed and me going, "Hmm... you know what? That negative guy really has good points. Maybe that person IS right!" Trust me... it will never happen.

People will complain in public to try to get more people to complain with them... and if you don't believe me... name one time that someone has complained in public about ANYTHING and told other people not to worry about it because they will fix it all by themselves and they don't need other people complaining about the same thing. Heh.

Back on topic... why is this spirit beast such a thorn in the side to some people? The people with the original skin gets to keep it as a wolf (unless something has changed), and the people who wanted the skin can get it. They might have to change specs to get it, but they can GET IT.

You don't see me making threads about how I am upset that Survival Hunters get all of the cool Shots (Explosive, etc..) and I can not get them as a BM hunter. If I did that everyone would just tell me if I wanted the shots that I need to respec into Survival.... Does that argument sound familiar at all?

Quit complaining... and realize that Blizzard will NEVER make all 12 million subscribers happy all at once. If you are still playing the game you are somewhat happy... go with that.

Me personally I am excited to see the skin available. I dont mind thats he a spirit beast.. I like heals ^.^ I am always BM spec for those heals.. you have no idea how much it has saved my life

I am just glad we are getting two new spirit beasts, not just one. Even if Karoma is just the old wolf, blizzard is giving us something which I appreciate. That wolf has always been my fave and I was heartbroken when I heard it couldnt be tamed anymore, so the fact that blizzard atleast gave us the skin is pretty awesome. He is going to be the first one I camp thats for sure!

This is a sad,sad day indeed
This wolf is what made some of us hunters who worked our asses of to obtain it in BC will no longer a unique and idolized breed. Those few of us who made the impossible happen will no longer stand out in the crowd, and we will look just like everyone else. The Grimtotem Spirit Guide is and was just like the Black Protodrake, Black bug tank mount from AQ, and any of the other retired mounts from raids special, unique and only available to those who stayed on the cutting edge of WoW. Now anyone and everyone with half a brain can get it, just like Loque, Skoll, Gondria, and Arcturis! Along with the violet, red and green Protodrakes or the raid ones if their guilds are willing to carry them. And on top of it being made it a spirit beast which in my opinion threatens the one i have with not being able to use anymore due to Blizz in their finite wisdom changing the one i have from wolf to spirit beast. Why did they have to give in to the crybabies who whined about not getting one when they were available in BC? Have they made the ghost hydra, slime and ghost croc available again? Forgive me if i am wrong, but i haven't seen anything about those coming back, or any of the retired mounts? Again thats a negative.
I say this wolf need to become an untamable mob straight away just like the other things that were once tamable have become untamable. Its the uniqueness of the pet, the difficulty in the tame, or the need to have a quest or friends of other classes in order to tame something or the unexpected retirement and for those who have it in being able to keep it is what sets a few pets AND thier hunters apart from the rest!
I do fear though that this pet is going to be a permanent part of the landscape, and because of that i will probably hang up my multiple bows and close my account, not that Blzz would care anyways.
My apologies in advance if i have missed something.

Kowasaki, your wolf will still be a WOLF and not a spirit beast. That right there is clear proof that you have the original Grimtotem Spirit Guide and not the new pet. I think Blizzard has done a fantastic job of allowing the original ghost wolves to stand apart and still be recognizably unique while allowing those who could not obtain the first one/weren't playing to get a skin that they've dreamed of.

Can't you be happy for all those people who weren't around to get the first ghost wolf and have wanted it dearly? ;)

Blizzard's had enough trouble with this wolf from day 1. The developers have found a way to implement the skin for everyone without taking away from those who originally tamed it.

This elitism when it comes to the original wolf is ridiculous; it wasn't THAT hard to stack enough haste to tame it. And camping a rare spawn with multiple spawn locations can certainly reduce one's sanity. This wolf/spirit beast is not a walk in the park to tame for anyone.

Kowasaki, you can still use your wolf as marks/surv, while the new hunters who tame Karoma won't be able to. On the other hand, theirs will be able to stealth and yours won't. They are separate entities.

I have never once thought a hunter with the Grimtotem Spirit Guide to be "special" or even above me in anyway... and I wouldn't even if I had just started playing WoW yesterday.

You are putting too much emphasis on certain things in-game that the majority of the player base (as a whole) really cares very little about....

If this was any other message board I would say that this being your first post and posting the Wall O' Text that you wanted to troll a little... BUT this isn't the normal message board, and considering how many other people that don't have accounts here read the threads... I am going to say you are more than likely a lurker who likes to read what we talk about.... or at least I hope so...

There is NOTHING extinct (not in the game currently... pets... items... mounts.. companions...) in this game that is safe from being made available again to the masses. Everyone needs to understand that.

WoW is a game made by Blizzard and they have the right to burst bubbles anytime they want... and they also have the right to make other players happy when they want to without asking everyone who plays the game if it is alright to do so.

Furthermore, the ones with the GTSG (spirit WOLF) should be thankful that Blizzard decided (for now) to not link the NPC IDs and make their GTSGs into Spirit Beasts. Blizzard is trying to keep everyone happy, but linking the IDs would only make the people who had the GTSG upset... which would get Blizzard complaints. So the logical answer would be let the old GTSGs stay wolves and let the new guy be a spirit beast.

I would hope that most of the GTSG owners wouldn't complain too much because if it came down to Blizzard removing one of the skins... I could almost guarantee you that the skin that gets removed would NOT be the spirit beast's (Karoma) skin, because... guess what... it is in the game to be tamed. The original GTSG owners are nowhere near being the majority here.. nor do they own a copyright on such material.

Last but certainly not least... if you are going to "quit" WoW over something as small (yes... because having a GTSG does not make pop star and it doesn't out-perform other normal wolves in raids) as your "uniquely" skinned pet's skin getting reused on another pet... then maybe you need to play another game for a little bit... because you will be back.

I hope I was broad enough in some points to not hurt anyone's feelings... that is not my intention..... but the whole situation on this pet skin is just stupid now.

Let...
It...
GO...
