This wolf is what made some of us hunters who worked our asses of to obtain it in BC will no longer a unique and idolized breed. Those few of us who made the impossible happen will no longer stand out in the crowd, and we will look just like everyone else. The Grimtotem Spirit Guide is and was just like the Black Protodrake, Black bug tank mount from AQ, and any of the other retired mounts from raids special, unique and only available to those who stayed on the cutting edge of WoW. Now anyone and everyone with half a brain can get it, just like Loque, Skoll, Gondria, and Arcturis! Along with the violet, red and green Protodrakes or the raid ones if their guilds are willing to carry them. And on top of it being made it a spirit beast which in my opinion threatens the one i have with not being able to use anymore due to Blizz in their finite wisdom changing the one i have from wolf to spirit beast. Why did they have to give in to the crybabies who whined about not getting one when they were available in BC? Have they made the ghost hydra, slime and ghost croc available again? Forgive me if i am wrong, but i haven't seen anything about those coming back, or any of the retired mounts? Again thats a negative.
I say this wolf need to become an untamable mob straight away just like the other things that were once tamable have become untamable. Its the uniqueness of the pet, the difficulty in the tame, or the need to have a quest or friends of other classes in order to tame something or the unexpected retirement and for those who have it in being able to keep it is what sets a few pets AND thier hunters apart from the rest!
I do fear though that this pet is going to be a permanent part of the landscape, and because of that i will probably hang up my multiple bows and close my account, not that Blzz would care anyways.
My apologies in advance if i have missed something.
I have never once thought a hunter with the Grimtotem Spirit Guide to be "special" or even above me in anyway... and I wouldn't even if I had just started playing WoW yesterday.
You are putting too much emphasis on certain things in-game that the majority of the player base (as a whole) really cares very little about....
If this was any other message board I would say that this being your first post and posting the Wall O' Text that you wanted to troll a little... BUT this isn't the normal message board, and considering how many other people that don't have accounts here read the threads... I am going to say you are more than likely a lurker who likes to read what we talk about.... or at least I hope so...
There is NOTHING extinct (not in the game currently... pets... items... mounts.. companions...) in this game that is safe from being made available again to the masses. Everyone needs to understand that.
WoW is a game made by Blizzard and they have the right to burst bubbles anytime they want... and they also have the right to make other players happy when they want to without asking everyone who plays the game if it is alright to do so.
Furthermore, the ones with the GTSG (spirit WOLF) should be thankful that Blizzard decided (for now) to not link the NPC IDs and make their GTSGs into Spirit Beasts. Blizzard is trying to keep everyone happy, but linking the IDs would only make the people who had the GTSG upset... which would get Blizzard complaints. So the logical answer would be let the old GTSGs stay wolves and let the new guy be a spirit beast.
I would hope that most of the GTSG owners wouldn't complain too much because if it came down to Blizzard removing one of the skins... I could almost guarantee you that the skin that gets removed would NOT be the spirit beast's (Karoma) skin, because... guess what... it is in the game to be tamed. The original GTSG owners are nowhere near being the majority here.. nor do they own a copyright on such material.
Last but certainly not least... if you are going to "quit" WoW over something as small (yes... because having a GTSG does not make pop star and it doesn't out-perform other normal wolves in raids) as your "uniquely" skinned pet's skin getting reused on another pet... then maybe you need to play another game for a little bit... because you will be back.
I hope I was broad enough in some points to not hurt anyone's feelings... that is not my intention..... but the whole situation on this pet skin is just stupid now.
Let...
