Well, aside from mechanicals and scalehides, they haven't added any more new families, have they? And scalehides are mostly 'old models' (even if they're refurbed in some cases)... so technically only one. Owlcats seem more likely than the unicorns, if only because we STILL can't have regular zhevra.

It looks like it's unlikely we'll see owlcats in 7.0, but it's not impossible we'll see them in the future. They are very cool. It's good to know they are at least on the radar and not a druid form

Isn't it confirmed that the owlcats are one of feral's artifact skin called moonspirit or something?
It seems to be the 6th skin according to wowhead artifact calculator.
Sure are. Exact replica druid forms on purely wild beasts are rare anyway. The only ones I can think of are the cheetah travel form and I think one of the old crow forms (dont hold me to that one), and we can tame both of those without issue. I don't suspect that most of the wild owl cats are druids anymore than the cheetahs are so theres at least a precedence for tameability (not that precedence in wow means much, *glares at Ku'lai*).
The worgen bears in Silverpine are obviously druids and the owlkin in winterspring are humanoid so thats not apples to apples.
I expected that at least this mob was going to use the unarmored new spider model, but after several builds without any such change, I'm not so sure any longer.
Starting to look like that model won't have a tameable version without armor, even though it'd be pretty easy to add. A shame.
Yeah, sadly there's been no non-mount version of that spider. It could still come, who knows?
If they save the non-mount version (of this, or the fox for example) for another expansion, in another world, it would make its appearance disjointed and strange. At least with shop mounts they're removed from the regular story and have no real context, but this isn't scheduled to be a shop mount.
And Quiv, thanks for the confirmation that the owlcat is also a druid form. I wasn't going crazy afterall

Indeed. I think it's a better model than the other, more Legion-y demonspiders, plus it fits so perfectly with the Nightborne. I expected that there would be a few of those walking around Nightborne areas.
Thanks for all the work you put in to this thread Wain! It's fun to look at all the models I can't wait for my new sand reaver and I've got my fingers crossed for those unihorses
Those sandreavers are damn cool. It doesn't even matter they're old models because they're chitonous and therefore the square edges on the model look a lot more natural than say... the poor boxcats.
I don't know who's getting one, but someone is.

I keep trying to wrap my brain around taming a sandreaver but for some reason they creep me out way to much.
Saw one in Gorgrond last night and was like. Nope. *shivers*
Though I'm ecstatic for those who wanted them

I tried to add some sort of updated texture by grabbing more up-to-date textures from other buglike creatures, but that didn't go too well, ha ha.
I think those are new too. I don't have any strong desires to tame a gyreworm myself, but when we have shale spiders as an option it really seems silly not to let us have them as well. I know there's plenty of people that would love one as a pet.
I never personally felt a draw toward them either. I also never understood how shale spiders were beasts when they are clearly disjointed rocks. However, people enjoy them and want the gyreworms too so I say the more the merrier!

As an aside: I long for the day they apply this sound reasoning to other undead versions of pets.
Yeah, I've never understood why a deer with skeleton legs and other exposed bones hanging out all over the place was okay, but the skeletal windserpents and blue bears weren't... I mean what's the bloody difference?
(or the eyeless mummy-hawks, for that matter)
