Solaira's Pet Journal
Re: Solaira's Pet Journal
However, this creature called a Broken asked me to deal with these creatures called "Lost Ones" before I was lost in the war. I figured it couldn't hurt and went to take care of the creatures. He also wanted me to collect some crystals.
Completed with our work, he asked us to deliever the crystals, should we survive. And with that, Ciro and I threw ourselves into war. We had to kill peons and warriors, and we set to work weaving between the lines and killing the orcs. Next, we had to slaughter warlocks, and they sent in ogres for help. Ciro and I went in to deal with the ogres, and place flags down on the dead soldiers so they could be later puled from the fields of battle.
Light preserve these soldiers.
Lastly, we were to steal supplies and take control of Stonard. The Commander told us that we weren't to burn anything or kill wives and children. Just soldiers. And with that, we made our way towards Stonard to seize control. And sure enough, we let the cowering peons live, the children and women were spared. We were quick and precise. No one suffered needlessly.
Victorious, we left Marshtide Watch to find the Harborage. The Broken there seemed very morose and beaten down. The Anchorite there begged me to gather flowers and silt for his dying companion. Once it was gathered, he asked me to please gather smoky crystals from grells and water from elementals. Tired, all I wanted to do was rest, but I had little in the way of choice. The elementals fell easily, and I expected the grells to just hand over their crystals, as the Anchorite insisted they were not corrupt or fel. So imagine my surprise when flames lit up nearby, and a grell cackled harshly.
Finally done, we returned for our the remedy. Avuun administered it, but it failed. He wailed, losing hope, when this draenei stepped through a portal. The other draenei gasped, crying, "Prophet Velen!" Obviously, someone important among the draenei, though I didn't know who he was.
The Prophet cast a spell on the dying Magtoor and he faded away. The Prophet returned and Avuun went to mourn. Ciro and I left, deciding now was a good time to rest, before moving onto the Blasted Lands.

We have to do the same "Get silt/flowers/etc. for the dying guy" quest, though it was two orcs, and we didn't have a leader come.

Re: Solaira's Pet Journal
Dear Journal,
After resting some, Ciro and I were getting ready to move on towards Blasted Lands. We had taken a brief respite, but the distress call from Nethergarde Keep sounded pretty urgent. While traveling, we saw this huge scorpion.
The scorpion let out a rattling hiss, and Ciro decided to edge closer. The scorpid shrieked, and charged forth. Ciro tried his hardest to piece its hard carapace, but to no avail. My arrows were barely hurting the creature. Buzzard tore at it, claws scrabbling, when Ciro charged forward, catching it in the eye. The scorpion screamed and stumbled back, and Ciro stomped on it, but its stinger caught the bird. It fell dead, and Ciro chirped weakly, stumbling and pacing, before falling down.
I moved to heal him, but the poison already burned through Ciro. He lifted his head, churring and nudging me. And then, he was gone. I mounted on Molly, and went to the Keep to try and find comfort there. The desert was awful, and the next thing I knew, I was lost. Ogres wandered, and I could see Cultists in the distance. Molly let out a whinny, and the next thing I knew, everything went dark.
---
Dear Journal,
I have awful luck with Cultists. As far as I could tell, it looked like a Cultist ambushed Molly and I. They must have planned to kill us, but didn't. There's a corpse nearby, and a hyena feasting on it.
It trotted over, tilting its head, and looked expectantly at the horizon, then at me. I tried forming a bond with it, and it clicked rapidly. The hyena barked, twirling in a dance, and quickly explained what had happened over the spirit bond, sending an image. It looked like I was right- a cultist ambushed me, and this hyena came to my rescue. His fur is a ghostly white, kind of like a phantom's. After looking for Molly and mounting her, Phantom led the way to the keep.
So...I lost Ciro, but I gained a new friend, and he saved my life. We returned to the keep, and I would like a good, long rest and a chance to mourn.

Re: Solaira's Pet Journal
Dear Journal,
I've had to start moving again. Nethergarde needs me as a working hero, not a broken one. Phantom has been my only comfort, really. He's loyal to me, but otherwise is surly and snappy to everyone else. Still, it's good having him around, even if he's already bit one of the guards. We were ordered to check out some ships on the shore, as well as kill a Horde scout that was moving in on our lands. We found the scout on the perimeter, sure enough. Phantom let out a horrible cry and leaped forward, tearing at the scout. They didn't even have a chance.
We went down to the coast to see the Horde that supposedly landed there, and instead found wolf-creatures. Worgen. Namely, Gilneans who had drowned. They wandered the shores, and as we ventured close, the spirits all turned towards us and gave a loud, pained howl. Phantom planted himself in front of me and gave a ferocious growl, and the spirits turned away. We crept back to the Keep, and Enohar Thunderbrew tasked us with destroyed the vultures above and freeing the spirits.
From there, we were also asked to deal with the Horde further: Kill their infantry, blow up their weapons, kill their captain. PHantom and I decided the Horde threat could wait, and we went back to the Shore. We set to work, Phantom moving in between the spirits and ripping through them, giving occasional soft yips, as if trying to comfort them. The freed spirits were grateful, light illumniated their bodies, leaving their wolfish spirit behind and taking what they were into...wherever the dead go, I suppose. I've yet to meet anyone who was come back.
By the way, journal, I didn't tell you, but I found this strange sphere on that Scorpion's body. It was made of those crystals I collected in the Swamp, Draenthyst or something. Either way, it gave off a slight pulse that grew more rapid in one direction, so I followed it to one of those lost ones, who accepted it gleefully, crowing about how greed would take it home, and offered me some pieces of treasure it had accumulated. Done, it was time to take care of the Horde.
We found the captain first:
And he was first to die. We tore through the Infantry easily enough, Phantom liked going after others that were fighting our guards and help. He was fairly merciless too, methodical even. He knew what he was doing. We went and reported our success across the board and Ms. Thunderbrew asked us to visit Watcher Mahar Ba. His orders were to kill Cultists and take their foci.
If there is ever one thing my hyena hates, it's Cultists. He let out a vicious, frenzied snarl as we drew close, and as we crested a ridge and looked over the camp, gave a long, savage howl. With that, he leaped down to attack the nearest Cultist and tore her to bits, then leaped towards another, a white, phantom-blur. This guy is fast killer, I will give him that. Next, we had to fight our way through the Cultist den to find a blood mage named Kasim.
After going through, he told us to go and collect blood and meat from hyenas, basilisks, and pigs. Phantom had little qualms about killing his kin, and did so.
((Fun fact! Snickerfang Hyena Blood has the following flavor text: "Really satisfies." Ha, silly Blizz. Snickers really does satisfy.

When we accumulated the needed blood and meat, we returned to Kasim. While we were running, we saw this huge yellow bird. Phantom barked at it, and it swerved down to peer at Phantom. It gave a sharp, hate filled cry and went for the hyena, tearing at him.
Molly charged forth, snorting, and kicked the bird away. For the first time, Phantom seemed full of regret and didn't want to hurt it at all. Still, we had to do something and it was getting up for another go at us. So I shot it cleanly, and the creature fell still. Phantom nosed the corpse and let out a sad little huff, then started leading the way to the teleporter. Unsure of what to do or think, I just followed after him.
Kasim told us to gather three amulets: The Amulet of Grol, the Amulet of Allistraj, and the amulet of Sevine. Allistarj's was in the cave, which was easy enough to get. Grol's was by Shattershore, and when we picked it up, a spirit rose up to defend it. However, the spirit was quickly dispatched, which left only Sevine's.
We found a murloc named Salt-Flop possessed it, and he gave it to us. In return, we were to help the Rockpool Murlocs. Much as I don't like them, I didn't see much of a choice. We found the Chieftain, he told us the Bloodwash naga just turned on them out of nowhere. He asked us to kill 10 barbarians and 10 echantresses, and we went to work.
With that over with, he wanted us to destroy the false idols, one of Azshara, and kill zealots, acolytes, gamblers and idolers. We followed the trail of murlocs:
to the rest of the naga that had to die. So, we went about giving the murlocs revenge. We found a crate of baby murlocs, sitting there sad and alone. They looked terrified and sick, so, being the good person I am, I dragged them all the way into the ocean. They began to float away, turning around and squeaking gleefully at me. Phantom sat next to me, giving them a farewell howl.
((Continued, I think. Eventually. Later. After Dr. Who. >>;))

Re: Solaira's Pet Journal

Re: Solaira's Pet Journal
While I was working on the latest edition, it ended up logging me out. Since I do everything as I go, it lost about the latter half of Blasted Lands. SO. Summarizing go!))
Dear Journal,
We camped out in the desert and finished our work. We had to get pieces from an old demon hunter and bring him back. Once done, we protected him from a flood of demons, and then lastly, we faced Razelikh himself. He would try to fling us off, but we would be spared by Loramus' magic. However, Razelikh possessed Loramus, so we had to kill him, and then bind him. Done with the work, I noticed Phantom was curled up, whining. I looked around, and noticed the corpses. How many had failed before us?
I finally managed to get Phantom to leave, and we went down to Surwich to deal with some issues going on there. It seemed demons were the issue, and we were told to kill a bunch of those. Once done, we were told to speak to a member of the Cenarion Circle who wanted us to gather and mash together animal body parts. Lovely.
After gutting and going through bears and bats and spiders, and ending up smelling like death, I finally returned to the elf. She tried to be polite, but she told me I smelled like taint. Still, we had what we needed, so we went to finish off Marl Wormthorn.
Despite his best efforts, Phantom and I killed him. He let out a mournful howl, crying how he only wished to do good. After that, a messenger came up to me, telling me to return to Nethergarde Keep as fast as I could. So I rode up there, and found the stablemaster looking rather bemused. Besides her, a gryphon stood, cleaning one of its claws. It let out a cry when it saw me, and immediately trotted over and rested its head on my leg. Molly looked rather uncomfortable about a gryphon being this close to her, shying away. There was a letter as well, and I opened it up and read it. It said,
"To Solaira,
Even in the darkest nights, you're still our Light.
From,
Fiona, Lillith, and the Boys.
P.S. His name is Soundwave. Giddy named him, and he says that this bird is the fastest in these Kingdoms."
Soundwave crowed and flapped his wings, looking eager to set out. I knew that Molly wouldn't like being near Sound, but I also knew Mol probably wouldn't do too well in Outland. It's a dangerous place. So, I asked the Stable Master to care for Molly, and hopped on Soundwave.
So, we headed off to the Dark Portal. Phantom however, barked and turned in the other direction. He led us to a graveyard, and sat down, looking at it, then me. The Graveyard was close to where Ciro had fallen. He looked at me, then at the grave. Through our Spirit Bond, he sent several images.
The first, a picture of a young hunter, standing tall. A hyena and a yellow carrion bird are by her side. Second image, they're fighting Razelikh, and the huntress is stabbed. Third image, a hyena and a carrion bird before a grave. Fourth, a picture of myself, standing in Molly's saddles. The plaque on the grave read, "Venin Vaporflare. Huntress, Hero. Owner of Phantom and Asher. Slayed by Razelikh the Defiler."
Phantom gave a low whine and I patted him comfortingly. He sent another image, myself, on Soundwave, alone at the face of the Dark Portal. He wasn't coming. He would stay and guard his former huntress' grave. I nodded, stepping away. He let out a howl of mourning, and laid down. I mounted Soundwave and we headed towards the Keep.
However, apparently my reputation of being good with beasts has gotten around to Kalimdor. A goblin in Tanaris, hearing from his Bogpaddle associates, asked me to come visit and take care of their buggy dilemna. So, Soundwave and I flew down there to check it out, sans Phantom.
((Continued.))
Re: Solaira's Pet Journal
Dear Journal,
Tanaris is still the same- deserty. There werre beetles everywhere! Chasing them off meant using arrows, traps, everything I could to startle the bugs. Eventually, we managed to scare them all away, but one, with a cold, calm authority, stood at head and refused to back down. I tried to coax it by my side, but it wasn't impressed. Soundwave crowed, threatening the scarab and charge it. No avail. Finally, I started telling it about options. It could stay and be killed, or it could come with me and see a new world.
Rather leisurely, it let the bond form. When I searched to give it a name, it refused to take anything but Scarab. Scarab it is, then. Soundwave took great pleasure in picking up the large bug and watching it squirm.
And so, we faced down the Dark Portal.
And with that, we left our homeworld behind, and stepped through into a new world.

I actually have a reason!TygerDarkstorm wrote:Good read as always Azu.Seemed kind of odd to go randomly snag a beetle, but I guess that works. XD
I've wanted a beetle since WPL, but I had Arachne at the time, and then Lillith. I knew Badlands/SoS/Blasted Lands were short by experience, and my dad had told me that beetles were amazing tanking pets, so I really wanted to experience the little guy. Since I promised myself that HFP would be my beetle zone. xD

Re: Solaira's Pet Journal
Dear Journal,
Scarab hates everything. I've learned this over my a few days while I rested and got caught up on the affairs of Outlands. He snaps and chitters and threatens anything that isn't Buzzard, he's taking a liking to the lizard. One poor peasant learned the error of his ways when he tried to touch Scarab. Those mandibles are scary as fel.
Either way, I was called up to Outlands on, essentially, clean-up duty. While the main tide of heroes have taken care of the big threats, demons still cavort and frolic every where, and it's up to me to take care of the masses. Not exactly thrilled by the prospect, I regardless took my orders.
Our first task wasn't exactly thrilling: Make the trip to Honor Hold on a gryphon given to us to hand in a report. It was rather unevent-WHAT THE FEL IS THAT?
This huge creature let out a piercing shriek and stomped away, our gryphon nimbly flapping away and dodging the giant steel monstrosity. I was informed that was a Fel Reaver, bane of a lot of people that had stepped foot in this land. I was told to watch out for them, they didn't want me to be another number.
My first real assignment can be described in two words: Kill demons. Interestingly enough, journal, despite the few seasons of combat I've had, I haven't dealt much with demons. It was mostly orcs and dragons. The Blasted Lands was a great help, with Phantom. These demons don't kid around. They're a real nasty sort. Anyways, we had our task, so Scarab sauntered off with me following.
Oi, definitely not in Azeroth, anymore. These demons are a bit tougher than the ones at home, but still rather manageable. Still, it's not fun to look over my shoulder all the time. Soundwave hovers close in case we need to make a getaway.
After that, we reported to another commander, who wanted us to kill some Fel Orcs. Now that's more like it! I can handle some blasted orcs. No problem. Scarab sensed my excitement and even got into a bit himself, giving a lazy click of the mandibles and stretching. The guards weren't comfortable around him, and I'm pretty sure he liked that. As well as slaughter, we had to gather scrap metal and wood.
Huh, that doesn't look like any orc I've seen before. Regardless, an orc is an orc is an orc, even if the orc is red and spiky. Almost a pity they aren't any tougher. Fel, the orcs out in the Swamp packed a bit more punch than these guys, and they were desperate, starving, and without weapons. Orcs killed, scraps collected, and a job well done. Next orders was to burn some towers set to attack us. Maybe. While it seemed suspicous, the Horde are helping us. Regardless, Soundwave and I flew off to light them on fire. Scarab stayed behind, as flying doesn't agree with him, and besides, he wanted to stay with the guards. I have a bad feeling about that bug.
After that was dealt with, we had to go to a place called Zeth'gor and elimniate orcs for these talismans. Thankfully, it was fast work. Our first target had what we needed. We had to collect 12 more, as they were former soldier's insignias. As well, we had to light flares. However, the harsh conditions are nightmarish and I wanted to rest.
