If they do end up using the Thunder Isle birds in Draenor, we could always end up seeing some of the other Ji-Kun-style mounts, though perhaps updated with an Arakkoa style harness. I'd so love to see the blue one:

Added the fiery new "sun crow" (our name for it, no official name known) model to the OP. I also included the related Stormcrow model since it still hasn't been used and should hopefully appear some time during the expansion. I listed them both under "Elemental Crows".

Because the new model is called "stormcrowmount_solar", we're speculating it might be linked to the Arakkoa, since they seem to have some sort of affinity with the sun.

We had been speculating that the Stormcrow would be related to Heroes of the Storm (much as the Hearthsteed was with Hearthstone). But now with the second version possibly appearing IN Draenor, perhaps the beasts will be considered native to there and the originals will too.

Who knows? :)

Also of interest, when the Iron Horde Elekk was discovered I commented that the wild skin underneath looked pretty good on its own and might be fitting somewhere in Draenor. Well, it hasn't been seen yet but I just discovered that the skin has been copied to the (wild) Draenor elekk folder and renamed to "ElekkDraenor_IronHorde" so it seems like it's fully intended to be used. Sadly I couldn't find the same for the base skin that the Iron Horde Wolf uses, which looks really wicked on a wild model (jet black, fiery eyes). But hopefully it'll happen too!

Probably a rep grind mount, which is fine by me! Mists didn't have as many as I would've liked. (Well okay they had a few...but they were nothing to write home about and the one for TI is a pain in the ass)

In Mists we farmed for goats....and a scorpion....and...um...a water strider. Nothing really to write home about.

Sorry but don't get too excited :( . The mount tab currently lists lots of unused things that have been made into mount spells in WoW, including things from Vanilla! There are quite a few that have never been in the game.

Actually, the mount tab now has far fewer unused ones than previous: earlier in the alpha it also included loads of things that were never even created as permanent mounts, including broomsticks and quest mounts. They seem to have removed most of those now.

Two interesting things in the latest build, which are interlinked:
  • it's confirmed there's a Creeping Carpet mount coming. Currently the spell points to the Magnificent Carpet mount (presumably a copy/paste thing and not the final look), so we don't know which colour it'll end up being. It may be a new design, but it's quite likely one of the three unused colours that already exist in the database:

Black & Gold: Image Dark Purple:Image Magenta & Blue: Image
  • More interesting is that this mount has no tailoring requirement, and the requirement has also been removed from all the older carpet spells. Does this mean the end of profession restrictions? Might we also see copters for all? I guess we'll wait for confirmation :)

Another funny thing is that the tooltip for the Creeping Carpet states that it's a GROUND mount!

I guess it fits the name then :)

I remember when it was first announced that flying would be delayed longer in WoD someone made a joke post about how all the flying mounts would be renamed. Some of the renames were pretty funny. "Creeping Carpet" reminds me of that. Might even have been one of them. I can't find the article to check now.

As for the removal of a profession restriction, if it's true then it'll be nice for tailors to be able to sell more carpets.

I wish they would do the same with the old engineer mounts, too. At least they have other mounts and ways to make money, but still. I would love to use my helicopter :(

If they do though, they'll probably make the mats more expensive. The profession-only mounts were fairly cheap because they were just for the one character. But, who knows, we could get lucky.

I still want that black and gold carpet. HNGH.

someday I'll find someplace to host a sig that isn't stupid money-grubbing photobucket

I'd be great if the creeping carpet mapped directly onto the ground, so it would look like the dirt was freshly waxed and you were rug surfing everywhere.

Does this mean... what I think it means?

Core Hounds for everyone! Now, as a Hunter, you can have a fully-matching set of mount, pet, and companion!

Pretty much :) The mount model was datamined a couple of patches ago but that's the first appearance of the item that teaches it. The model is actually a new one (and there's a non-mount version too) but they're very much true to the original in style so they still match.

In other news:

"Ability_Mount_ElekkDraenorMount". The Elekks are coming! I haven't seen any sign of a specific mount model yet, though (aside from the Iron Horde one).

Well, it turns out there IS a Draenor Elekk mount in the database, though nobody seems to have reported it yet.

It's using the base elekk skins, but with a saddle over the top. Unfortunately I haven't found a saddle texture yet, but will keep looking. It's always possible that it doesn't exist yet, but I'll try.
