I wish our lurker would hit us with an early/late Christmas present and make monsters with SFX keep them when tamed. Corpse Tickler was my first idea the moment I read the post, but then I remembered its spectral nature is part of its model, not SFX. Same with the plethora of ghostly spirit beasts, the electric effect on Hati, and so on; those are baked into the models. The effects on the dog and crow in the Maw are just hidden buffs.
I think it might be the same with the drust goat and crab, sabuul, the void marsuul, and the void Talbuk

My very rough understanding of effects retention (after taming) is that it's probably purely down to how the effects are implemented by the designer. If they're added as an extra effect/aura in the original display ID then they will likely remain, because the pet reads that display ID, but if they're added to the NPC as an extra spell aura then no. So, I don't think a designer could simply come along and switch it on for an NPC, they'd have to completely rework how it's implemented.

Mhm, which would be a lot of work to do that for every NPC that has an effect like that.

You know those Brokers next to the orbs with beasts and critters in them? Put random appearances in those, and have a Broker that you can pay to unlock the cage. That way, the tameable skin can be put on an NPC that makes sense. Brokers like to collect unusual and rare things, right?

- Broker NPCs with captured beasts with themes (Horse collector, Lizard enthusiast, etc)
- Different Broker appears daily, on a set rotation
- Broker has a single orb, and you can see what's inside. You can pay them for the current beast.
- If you do not want what is in there, you can ask "What else do you have?" and it will reroll the skin to a different one
- Optionally, provide an option to pay a lower price for a random beast and see what you get.

I don't know how code-intensive this is, but it'd be a fun thing for hunters to play with if they want a random pet.

EDIT: I threw my suggestion on the official forums. Shameless plug: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t ... sts/946456
I really do like this idea :)

The idea sounds awesome and unique, but getting a unique unused pet look should be a bit more challenging than just lending gold, maybe challenge the broker to some sort of duel with their army of pets, or maybe challenge the beast and make it submit to you and then tame it

Popping in to add: it'd be cool flavor if there was some bit about "The pets released by hunters usually find their way to us, would you care to adopt? For a small fee of course."

It'd actually be pretty neat QOL if stable masters offered the ability to "purchase" specific families this way.

That would be a great idea, imagine seeing some random abandoned pet running around in a random place, and you can end up feeding it to tame it, opposing factions still use tame beast, but hunters should have a currency like pet food for taking in abandoned pets, pets abandoned by another member of your faction will be friendly, while the opposite faction’s pet is still hostile towards you, what do you all think, is it bad, or is it a fun concept to think about

I think that is a good idea, it would just take time to implement it. Would probably would best as something that comes with a new xpac. :)

Hopefully at some point, we get new class specific toys with the same function as the hati toys, but it’s added to your toy box, and it’s usable on all pets, that would take lots of time, but that would make hunter the new most played class, I don’t think so, I know so, who doesn’t want to ride their devilsaur to war, or mount on your armored tauralus pet without being a necrolord

Fangcaller Xorreth was up on PTR today. I checked his spawns of Venomous Cobra several times. When he uses the ability "Call of the Fang", he spawns two giant cobras. I kept rerolling his spawns (pulling, waiting, feigning, etc), and after about 10 resets, he spawned one red Venomous Cobra! However, after WAY too many rerolls, I didn't see a yellow one. I had the green skin as my animal companion, so I could definitely verify the different color if it spawned. I mean, the yellow one would obviously stand out if it did spawn, but alas, it did not. Only saw two red ones though, which was really surprising.

Red giant cobra is objectively no longer locked behind Vulpera. Rejoice!

That’s nice, looks like all specific race pets, except for the nightborne pet which is just family classed, are not very unique anymore, we got voidstalkers in the end of BFA, brown flaming darkhounds in revendreth, and much more

There's also the Zandalari stone direhorn and Human and Orc banded wolves. Along with the Nightborne "cat", those are the only racially-locked pets. I don't see a way to introduce those four skins into the wild in a reasonable way outside of rares or quests, so they might be stuck there for some time.

Forgot about these, i know stone direhorns will be ours too at some point, and banded wolves can be used by npcs tamed by more sentient npcs and then take them from there

Wowhead datamined some images for the TBC deluxe edition. The images show the original warp stalker mount, which uses the old model, and a warp stalker mount that uses the model datamined a couple of weeks ago.

Yep. Plus armor and saddle, as I had assumed. Which means that there's still a bare Warpstalker HD model in the files that exists but serves no purpose? I assume that they plan to make it pop up somewhere else in that case, otherwise it'd be just the mount model.

Im here hoping they won’t use old animations, I want nice and fast running animations, not slow motion strides

Oh, it has a new run animation?! That's awesome. The run animation is one reason I couldn't use them much, it looks awkward! is there a way I could see it? I can't find the model on Wowhead

It hasn’t been finished yet, I’m still waiting, and I hope it will be added in mac’aree, if people want bc warpstalkers, keep them in Outland and have those mac’aree warpstalkers use the new model with every color

I can't show it to you in any other way than as a silhouette because wow.tools doesn't apply the textures and I don't know how to do that manually.

It currently completely lacks attack animations, though. Really hoping they add that in, as well as alternate skins. That model with a Gezzarak-like skin would be so good.
