Well - I already had one of the two pets you rolled for me tamed, so I'm just going to talk about both.
I've had a blue dragonhawk since the skin became tameable; I'd tried a red dragonhawk before, and while I loved the animations I was distinctly unfond of the color. She's more purple than blue, really - purple body, fading into teal then cyan on the wings and tailfeathers.
It took me quite a while to pick out a name for her; I levelled her all the way from 77 to 84 (in instances, while levelling myself) using the default family name. Eventually, I settled on
Tethys, the Greek goddess considered the embodiment of the waters of the world. Everything about her, from her colors to her animations, reminds me of running water, so the name fits.
The wolf, on the other hand, I did not have. So I began, as one does, by looking through the page listing creatures with that skin.
The "barks when clicked" line caught my eye. And sure, I could've gone for the low-level wolves in Mulgore, but - being horde, and feeling adventurous - I decided to go for
Spot instead.
I flew to Brackenwall Village and rode to Theramore. My bright idea was to ride through, feign death in a likely corner outside of guard aggro range then pop back up and tame.
So I rode through, found a safe-looking corner and feigned. And the guards promptly went "lol no" and killed me anyway. Apparently Theramore guards are immune to feign. Who knew?
Released and found myself at Tabetha's place. Cringed, expecting a long corpserun. Discovered the brand new bridge they put in place since the shattering. Awesome! That definitely shortens the run.
Ran back. Ressed in said safe-looking corner. Evidently it wasn't quite so safe, since I aggroed not only Spot but
Guard Lana as well. Hit tame anyway, ended up getting killed with 1sec left on the tame. Gah.
Released, ran back, rezzed further back in the corner. Yay for safety! Dropped a trap just in case and pressed tame. This time it went perfectly.
Definitely keeping him. It's funny - looking at all the wolf models, I would say the only ones I can stand are the saber worgs, so if I'd gone to tame a wolf by myself I would've picked one of those. And yet on my 85 hunter I have Lone-Hunter-with-sword, tamed for a lark and named Whoops and I'm so attached to the big ghostly furball it's not even funny... and now I'm also attached to this critter. He has blue eyes! He barks! He's surprisingly adorable!
Now to find a good name for him. I have a naming theme on Vanity where I name all my pets after qualities (whether negative or positive), and all the likely ones (such as Loyalty) I've already used. Ho hum.
This was fun. Might come back for a second go once I've got a few more levels under my belt, if that's alright.
