I think what Sat (Who's the master of all dead and ghostly) would be thinking of Azu more along the lines of a banshee, which is what I'm going with. Essentially, because only arcane and light energy can really only hurt her, I'm making sure she's pretty useless in battle so she's not OP. The way I see it, using what Decay taught her, she can do a few small bolts of energy a battle, or one rather biggish one during the entire day. Sort of like it has a CD.

I'm wondering if Azu could kind of use herself to help strengthen other people's attacks actually. Like, and forgive the Final Fantasy 8 reference, she junctions herself to someone, or semi-posesses them, and lends them what little strength she has in combat. :O

That might be a possibility, I'm not sure. I know multiple Wowwiki articles said ghosts were quite capable of possession, so the actual possession part wouldn't be too hard. I think the more questionable part is getting back and returning to the necklace she's bound to.

That, and I can also see it as a less frequent thing for her to do. I imagine it wouldn't be fun for either parties.

Hmm, definitely something to think about. I'd say she could only do it with whomever is in contact with the necklace, and even then, only with a lot of practice and/or if they're willing. Uncomfortable? Very much yes, but one of those things one could get used to in time. If, of course, this isn't completely OP and people actually like the idea.
The only other thing I could think of is some sort of set up similar to the 4th edition D&D Shaman, but that would take even more work to set up and understand, not to mention not feel very WoWish.
I just want to make RP Azu feel useful again. XD

I actually think your idea is sound, Moon. I certainly think it's probably something Decay could work on with Azu and getting her to practice possessing whomever's in control of the necklace or something for a brief period of time.

I do think Azu should also just spend a bit more time working with what she can do. I mean, everything I've read that mentions ghosts has said they're capable of cursing/using energy to attack/possession so at least we know it's not too implausible.

And yeah, she'll definitely have to ask for Decay's advice.
