My report on Spiteflayer!
I had a bit of a tough time finding him, actually. I fully expect all lower level rares to be there and waiting for me when I look, so I was a bit surprised to have him not there!
Logged out for a bit, logged in, logged out, logged in. Blah blah.
Didn't find him.
I spent some time looking for Olm, and had no luck with him either. Spent a few days logging in and out randomly.
Finally hopped back to the Blasted Lands and he was up!
Model: I've always been partial to the two-headed vulture. The one-headed one is perfectly nice and quite natural, but the two-headed one just seems full of personality. They have funny ridges on their tail feathers, nice wings, and really nice heads. The only problems are the obviously segmented wings (visible all the time, as they're always flapping) and the segmented ridges of feathers on their bodies. It looks very 2d.
Skin: My favorite of the two-headed vultures by far. I actually thought he was going to be a brighter yellow, but it turns out he's a fairly dark, nearly orange color. I thought I would prefer brighter, but the darker yellow really brings out his bright, electric blue eyes. It's because of that coloration that I named him Covalent. Overall he's a beautiful color, with many different variations on his wings and back.
Animations: I know some people don't like flappy pets because they have segmented, broken wings. This is true. However, I found him graceful enough, and his attack animations are awesome. As for swimming, it's also fairly nice, using his wings to push himself along.
Sounds: Not too loud, although he does have a loud, high-pitched screech attack. Also, well, he flaps. Flapflapflapflap. Overall he's a fairly loud pet. However, again, I'm used to it.
DPS: He's a very nice little DPS pet. As a ferocity pet, his dps is high, and he seemed pretty tough. A nice pet, although I still need to test his dps vs. my cat.
Tanking: As a Ferocity pet, he's a little less enduring, and he has no AoE aggro. Grrr. However, I found that he kills stuff fast enough that it doesn't tend to matter. Still, a bit squishy. Not a Tenacity pet, that's for sure.
Special Skill: While I see Demoralizing Screech being useful in a situation where you have a squishy tank, I found it more or less a pain in solo. Many a time he ran off to kill an aggro'd critter while I was bashed on by mobs. The same problem foxes have, in fact. Urgh, I hate it. I ended up turning off that skill.
Overall: I love him, really. Covalent is definitely staying. I was actually looking for inspiration to tame him before this.
Another?

Exotics? Sure!
Restrictions? Absolutely none. Give me -anything-. (Well, actually, I have trouble with Cata dungeon pets that I can't solo tame. So.. That's my one restriction.)
