Its getting so frustrating. I can breed dragons that should be worth 200-400k but right now my choices are: clog up my lair for months with dragons and hope i can sell them for what they are worth, sell them for 1/2, 1/3 or sometimes even 1/4 their value just to get SOMTHING out of them, or exalt them for a poor man's pity change just to make room and hope the next batch will do better.

Its really frustrating when you spend pockets full of treasure on the parents or dish out some 500k just to gene something for a special project only to have the offspring become exalt fodder by the time the breeding cool down hits. the market is stagnant and the only way to earn anything is to become part of the problem.
I want players to get nice dragons but if i sell rare combos for cheap I am just helping to ruin the value of that breed/color for everyone else and then when the buyers try to make money off of the parents they have bought they end up stuck in the same hole. you can't cover the cost of the parents from the profits of the offspring.
So i get to either try and avoid flooding the market with cheap dragons and just waste them as exalt fodder or i can take what i can to try and recover the losses. bleh.
the new flood of members used to fix this problem for a while but at this point the market is so saturated that it didn't help.

I really wish the exalt price would give you more treasure bases on the color/genes/breed or even what was trending at the time so that it was a viable option for dumping dragons without wasting them. it would help bring back the rarity and keep everything at a more stable price if exalting unsold dragons was a better option than breaking down and selling dirt cheap. Not that I ever expect them to do something like that. its been a year and they still seem to be looking the other way.

I imagine it also comes to the fact that a lot of people run out of space fast. :/ So I can't buy all the cool dragons I want. And I've been surprised at how cheap a lot of dragons are.

The big thing is fixing exalting won't help.

Either FR needs to open for realsies so we can have a steady stream of fresh buyers.

OR we give dragons a harder CD/prevent them from breeding after a certain time period. We have too many dragons, not enough people buying, and the only people who get dragons to sell at good prices are those who are incredibly well known on either FR/tumblr and thereby it becomes a huge thing to buy their dragons. If you're not one of them, you're SOL.

I think people like me, in a way, do not necessarily help the FR bred dragon economy. Especially since I buy gen ones almost exclusively. But the amount of treasure and gems I've spent buying them, gene scrolls and unhatched eggs has been obscene. Curse my gen one hoarding.

My rant for today. I have ONE lair space open. ONE. I bid on two dragons. *facepalm*

Syleye: Then they need to make FR open for everyone. Expanding lair space, give us five, ten, twenty more spaces is putting a band-aid on a gaping wound. We have too many dragons, not enough people buying. Giving people more lair space would end up being a lot like what happens when we get new players. For a brief while, economy is stable. And then it's back to sucking. More lair space won't help.

Like I said--that's our two options. Either finally stabilize FR so we can have it open properly forever (It's been a year, come on FR. That should have been your first priority above any new content, if I'm being honest. The people you would have lost by the whole "site is boring" would have EASILY been made up by influxes of people), or we do something to limit dragon breeding.

Edit: Anything else, lair expansions, fixing exalting, whatever--just a band-aid. It won't do anything. It's exactly like dom battles. They help for all of two hours. New players, help for all of five days before new nest booms. Lair expansions--give you a set number of spots and then bam you're done buying dragons.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong. They've done a lot of terrible things to FR that's hosed them. Could the economy be salvageable? Possibly. Will we ever see imps back in the millions, PCs in the 200k and WCs at half a million? Never.

I personally don't think imps and such should be, should they be more than they are now yes, should they be so damned expensive that they become damn near exclusive no. Open registration would help, but I do not want the flood gates opening with the potential server disruptions. They are playing that safe and I can understand their hesitation. Long story short there is no perfect solution right now

* I would like to add I don't disagree there are major problems, i am at the point that besides a promised breeding I have zero reason to play. That is all lair space issues.

I agree with you there. Would I be happy with dragons being able to sell within the 50k-100k range more reliably depending on color/breed? Oh yeah! But you're right, as it stands we've got not much we can do as players other than exalt, and even then that obviously doesn't make much of a dent.

Also understandable. It's rough playing a breeding sim when you lack the space to breed, and the things you breed don't sell. xD

It's kind of weird, but despite only joining in April...there's not really much point in breeding (yeah, yeah, dragon breeding sim and all). Because there's diddly to breed for exalting (though, I admit, when I do breed, that's my goal lol) and well, some dragons sell to others, but I tend to price just above what I'd make for exalting...and yet, the vast still won't sell. Honestly, building the story/lair/culture and such of my clan is my motivation versus everything else.

It's weird...I've played breeding sim games in the past and there was sooo much more to it. Hopefully as new genes/breeds get added and open registration hits it'll evolve naturally. (This is the first I've played prior to an open registration...)

this soo much this. I dont agree that the only way to solve the economy is to put restriction on dragons... Raising exhalting prices to scale with genes and breed and give us more room to me make way way way more sence to me
