I tried a couple of days from 3pm-3am. I never had any luck with the All day camps are a real pain but I keep trying to do it uninterrupted. I been usually doing 6pm-3am sometimes 2am depending on if I have something to do the day after.

What's the spawn time on this particular spirit beast? I know Arcturis was about 19hrs after server maintenance; & I only camped six of those before I saw em'.

Reports I've seen are from 5 minutes to 23 hours.

Rule of thumb for maint. seems to be a spawn 6-8, sometimes 12 hours after server restart. I got Skoll after 8 hours or so, on his first spawn on the server. If you start camping a little before the 6 hour mark, you should catch a spawn. He's only got a few spawn points, so having a friend or two to help cover the others should guarantee you catch him when he pops. If your server has to restart for any reason, the spawn gets messed up. When the patch that launched Gondria went live, our server was riddled with issues and restarts for a few days, messed up her spawn cycle so badly that she didn't spawn til later on in the week. I missed that spawn but got her second one. Arcturis also had a weird spawn when he launched. Keep your head up! You WILL get him!

If I may offer a suggestion...

The spawn time for Skoll seems to be more along the lines of a full 20-24 hours ( honestly, 22 hours is the 'usual time' he respawns) after the last spawning. I've timed and tested it 3 times and each time, it was accurate. My own accounts in taming Skoll:

Camped at the Disk above the village.

1) First time I saw and found him, I was middle of the tame when another hunter lashed out and killed it outright while I was trying to tame. He thought it was hilarious to keep it from me.

2) I missed the tame by a few minutes, but that's because I was late/distracted. But my timing was on.

3) Got'em easy as pie.



Another tip: Spirit beasts (and I've not found this to not be true. So either it is true, or this is one hell of a coincidence...) .. In all my tamings and watchings, Spirit Beasts tend to spawn either 15 before the hour, or 15 after the hour... They're up for 15 minutes and despawn:

Example: Spirit Beast1 will spawn at 8:45, and despawns if not killed/tamed at 9:00.
Spirit Beast 2 will spawn at 2:15, and despawns if not killed/tamed at 2:30.


This is the luck I've had with 2 Loques, Gondria, Skoll (two hunters, 1 Alli and 1 Horde), and helping get Skoll and Loque for friends.

Loque has a different spawn ratio and is the most predictable of the beasts to tame - BUT has the widest spread spawn points.

Skoll is a hard tame due to the fact he's sharing a spawn path point with other rares -- both for achievements like frostbitten and the Time Lost Protodrake Mount. ---

PROTIP: Establishing bonds/pacts with others in the area is a great way to help have eyes elsewhere. Had people that were looking for TLPD look for Skoll for me, and I'd look for TLPD for them. I even offered 'bounty hunter rewards' of Frost Lotus and Titansteel.. that motivates a lot of folks more than straight gold.


Establishing a RareSpawn channel maybe helpful for your given realm -- either for people who wish to hunt them for Frostbitten OR to tame.

Hehe, odd you should mention that. ^^ I've found in all my Spirit Beast encounters that they tend to spawn around 5 minutes past the hour or half hour. (eg. 8:05, 8:35).

don't want to derail but for anyone who's tamed Skoll; does he have a unique roar or attack sound like Loque'Nahak?

I too am waiting around to see Skoll; but not to tame because my stable contains two spirit beasts already, Arcturis, & Loque, I just want to see Skoll though

Skoll, fortunately, doesn't have a unique roar á Loque. His roar is a variation of a howl, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, his sounds are the normal saber worg ones, but with the added echo sort of effect on them.

i used 2x accounts to get him got him at 4 am or something but that was loooooooooooong ago before i quited wow :p

Best time to look is after a server reset, I think that's when I picked up Skoll right by the disc above Brunhildar.

I camped Skoll solidly for a couple of days before I tamed him (probably 25ish hours camping), and heard of/saw him three times - I don't know if 22 hours is usual... but he can most definitely show up earlier than that, in my experience. I heard of him spawning and being tamed at 2am server time, and then didn't see hide nor hair of him again until I found his dead body 11:45pm (/cry) - which would match your ~22 hours. I tamed him almost exactly 12 hours after I saw his dead body though.

On a side note, if you do get Skoll, don't hang around his spawn point with him forever; I had so many near-heart attacks because of a hunter playing with Skoll at the disc spawn. He stayed there for about four hours and I think it took several years off of my life whenever the scanner went off, haha.

(I got Time Lost Proto Drake easier than I got Skoll; that puppy is so frustrating to camp, but so worth it!)

Needless to say I flubbed it, thought nah he's not that great, & abandoned him, Yeah...I know, unwise of me, welcome to berate me all ya' want, & I'm a bad owner. It was an accident to abandon him but nothing can be done except hunt for him again...

So back to the hunt....
- start at 4am
- 6:20am Silver Dragon goes off "Skoll!" ok cool, so I click the icon to target; nothing, look around spawn points, nothing. false alarm perhaps
- 8:15am damn the cat for walking on the keyboard & making me fall for 20k damage
- 9am 22hr mark; if he does not show I'll assume he was slain at 6:25-30am & check again at 3-4pm & 12-2am marks as above posters have mentioned; regardless I deserve this for messing it up.
- 6pm 15hrs in - not a peep of any rare, it's pretty desolate out here.
- 7pm 16 1/2 hrs in - ty to Sindra & Rhy for helping me look
