I doubt it says anything very flattering about this fellow that he wanted the rewards of something he hated to do so much that he botted, to say nothing of upping the ante by trying to Craigslist a GM into unbanning him for it (lol). It also suggests to me that something is off in general that so many people feel compelled to do archaeology despite their deep, burning hatred/boredom. I'm familiar with the stinging lash of game addiction, and I've certainly had my fair share of "I hate this so much, why am I doing it?" moments. On the other hand, I've never heard unfettered praise for Archaeology, unlike a lot of other activities. None of my friends or acquaintances have ever displayed happiness that they're doing it. There might be a brief "sweet, I finished something!" but that's usually overwritten near instantly by the crushing realization that there's still a bunch of stuff they're unhappy about.

All the secondary professions have this to a point, but compared to Fishing, this is such a depressing thing to watch someone do. I've never had to repeatedly witness my friends grind out a Fishing objective/goal while they gripe incessantly about it. At worst someone might try for one of the really absurdly hard goals, like winning a fishing tournament or catching the Dustbringer or whatever, but even then, once they're done, they are happy. They don't have 5 seconds of euphoria followed by intense dissatisfaction.

I suspect it's that nobody bothers with Fishing if they can't stand the act of fishing in the first place, while everyone feels that Archaeology is "easy" so there's more pressure to do it. The number of SUPER SHINY USEFUL PURPLES is also vastly different: master fishermen can't end up with BoA epics, or prestigious "show off in the city" mounts, or other massive pieces of gaming bling. They can end up with neat toys, but they're all odd, or of limited use, or just plain sort of goofy. And... one title, versus how many possible from Archaeology?

So in short: this guy gave me a case of the laughs, and I'm still facepalming at Archaeology.
