Your first option doesn't make sense. If it dies, it's dead, and pressing the macro before you tame anything wouldn't do anything either.

You do know that you can take all your gear off and either hit it with a serpent sting and pop tame and start gauging how fast/slow your tame is and work out the timing, or you can try it with an immo trap.

You hit the abandon macro with 2 seconds left on the tame...

Idk I guess I'm just dumb then. I put an immo trap at max distance, hit tame, he ran in and died with 4 sec left on the tame. I've tried every method as I've read it here and they don't work. Sorry to bug everyone.

It takes practice. When I did it, it was with the alliance quest "Lupis Pupis", which as far as I know, it was necessary to get the oil stained wolf.

It certainly was for the original way discovered to tame the oil-stained worg. :)

I just tamed my diseased wolf as normal, and when there was like .5 seconds left on the tame I *click click click click!*ed the macro until he disappeared, then tried to tame another wolf, I did it until it worked and it wouldn't let me.
Then I just logged out, logged in, and called him. :) hope this clears things up a bit

Oh that's cool, so you don't have to do the absurd "kill it as you tame it method." That's neat. :)

Maybe try Litle's way when you're feeling less frustrated Corpse? I didn't realize that it would work in that manner and I apologize.

I too have tried repeatedly and it won't work. I really don't understand why it works for most people but not for some. I've also tried it on other confirmed pets besides the diseased wolf. I've mostly tried it Litle's way since that's the most popular way I've seen. But unlike Litle, when I tame and spam the heck out of the macro at the very end and it disappears, when I try to tame another pet it lets me, every time. I had my fiance read the guide and have him try it and he couldn't get it to work either. Guess I'll just stick with my plain pets.

From my understanding, you're only supposed to hit the macro button ONCE as you hit the two second mark, not keep pressing it.
I've also read to make sure it's a button you're pressing on the action bar and not clicking it.

Ok, I will try this out and see if it works. Maybe that was what I was doing wrong. I was spamming it and clicking.

I've seen it been done both ways. I recommend putting it on your action bar and just pressing it once around the time the tame finishes.

If that doesn't work, try the normal way (spamming it at 2 seconds) with your macro button on your bars.

I know that it didn't work when I was clicking it.

Just tried it with every wolf in the area and it's still not working. I don't like to give up but this might be a case where I do.

Well I have a addon that also lets me see the .0 seconds so it's easier. (example 2.3 seconds left on tame)
I only start spamming the macro when it is half a second left.
I click more than once but as soon as he disappears I stop.

Now I had the same problem with Princess, I must have failed at least 50 times, but I experimented, such as only clicking once, spamming since 2 seconds, or anything I could think of.
Good luck! :)

EDIT: You DO have the right macro, right?

Yes, I have the macro that is posted on the how to posts. I click it and as soon as the pet disappears I stop. However, the macro seems to be an actual abandon macro so it's not keeping the pet I tamed. Either I'm somehow doing it wrong even though I've followed all of the advice, or maybe some people for whatever reason aren't able to do it.

They will only take them away if you're purposely trying to exploit them (for example, taming a known pet with a damaging buff/aura), or if someone reports you for having one.

Best way to avoid getting reported for one is not to make a huge scene while you have one out, and try not to get on people's bad sides. :) There are people who will report things for spite, and it sucks.

Just my two cents anyway.
