That is a very good question...

We suspected a daily of some sort on the PTR, but no one had quested far enough to confirm it either way. :(

There was no quest involved with the spiders when I spotted the pack of them last night (and managed to tame one of them). And I had not completed any dailies on the Front at that point either, so I'm sure they're not phased. I'm gonna haul my elf's arse up the spire now and see if I can spot the wee spiderlings again. :3

Does anyone have a map showing where these guys spawn? I can see the minimap on the two screenshots shown but it isn't helping much :(

Edit: my issues came from the fact that my minimap's north is always north--it doesn't rotate, and I didn't see that the ss-taker's does rotate. I couldn't figure out what was North >.< Fairly certain, judging by landmarks, that this is about right--so if anyone in the future needs, I think this is where they were tamed:

That sounds promising. Only 8/20 marks left to go...

Hi!

I can tell you that if you see the green matriarchs that use the nerubian model they won't be up.

The ones that pop out of a druid are also not tameable. The ones that are have about 8 spawn points. But! if you wait around the the nest looking area in the middle of the spire, they will stop there and despawn. You can nab one there and tame it.

Okay, so still searching.

From what I can tell, every time the big Prophet out in the middle of Molten Front yells (audible & textual), the Hyjal Scout spawns, runs in, asks for help--he's healable but doesn't actually take damage during his scripted event--and then "dies." Untameable green spiderlings spawn, then despawn after 30 seconds or so.

The tameable patrolling ones, then, might have some similar obscure trigger. Just something to bear in mind.

So far I've tried going to the top of Widow's Peak or whatever, repeatedly; I've also tried wiping various Druids (in bird, elf & cat forms) and the green Clutchkeepers. Nothing so far.

When they're spawned, they pat around the north half of Widow's Clutch (the spider part of it, not where the druids are).

Those broodlings and the ones that spawn from the dead druid (which is only near the Forlorn Spire anyhow) are different GUIDs, so you can tell them apart.

I managed to post this in the *other* thread on the same topic, so I'll stick it here as well. I didn't realize there were two of these, my bad!

Can we get a map of where they pat, and in what direction, and where they begin/finish? I'd kill the nearest spider in a fit of rage should I be right at the end and not get them in time.

there is like at least 8 spots I seen where they spawn, they all despawn in the same place tho. I would check after the dailies change over for the day.

Oh and they also pat almost ALL over the spire where you do king of spider mountain, so if they are up, you will see them.

To see if it has to do with dailies:

Been sitting out here for 2-3 hours with not a single spawn of these guys.

Current dailies (that I can access) are:

* Kill some Invaders.
* Kill some dogs.
* Heal some druids.

Okay, so the names aren't EXACT, but there you go. Any chance others who see these spawn--or not--can tell us whether they're spawning & what the dailies are on their realm, for them? It's a long shot but maybe we'll find a common thread.

I've parked myself right where the screenie was taken, 4 min til dailies reset; thanks for that idea. But I've hunkered down for a good long wait (been an hour already). Bring it, you pygmy spiders!!

Question; if the nerubian models are NOT up, the little guys are.... what, do they just randomly despawn, or what? o_O

EDIT!!! Nerubian models are GONE with the reset!No babies yet, but nerubians have vanished! Gogogogogo spawn D:<

They just despawn at the nest spot, I followed em around forever and every group of em ended up there. Hover your mouse around where there is a lot of dots and watch for the broodlings to come up :D

I plugged em into NPCScan as Kalimdor-residing, and my tame button is right by where my NPCScan button pops up.
Yane; you said you've seen many, how frequently do they spawn? An hour? two? a million? Ok not a million...
