What pet do you hate(dislike)? Why? (Rare or common)

I can't stand them. WAY too many elitest where spawned from them. The whole "there only rares no commons" angle is stupid imo. I'd hate them less if there was atleast one common one.

I agree wholeheartedly with Meggers list. I don't have any of those tamed because I don't think they were MEANT to be tamed (and they're ugly), even the supposedly really rare Jadefang couldn't hold my interest because its a goddamn rock. I had a pet rock as a kid and it was about as much fun as Jadefang. I like the shale spider buffs they give, but thats about it.

Spirit beasts...yeah, ghosts shouldn't be tamable, but I like them too much to say "make them untamable". ><

In the same manner, undead pets. Wat. If I can tame an undead wolf, why I can't I tame myself, like, an undead...undead? I'd love to have a Forsaken pet. They're not BEASTS, they're undead! If that opens up all undead to being tamed, well...gimme Sylvanas. I want her as my pet. I promise I'll take good care of her...

I personally very much dislike ravagers. <_< I have a phobia of aliens (like, I cant watch alien movies) and they remind me too much of them. X_x

Wasps. I have a fear of wasps IRL, and though the in game ones don't scare me as much, their wings are just so annoying.

Moths. Sure they can be pretty, but IRL they're really annoying (I have them all over my home) and fly in my face and I also just cant see them being very ferocious. <_<

Gorillas and monkeys... I really just don't like their models and they're too human for me ^^;

Sporebats can be cute sometimes but they just don't do much for me as a pet.

Ant silithids. I HAAAAAAAAAAAATE (Okay, I find them interesting and whatnot. I actually only hate them if they're in my home. If they're outside my view of them changes, but I just recently had a spawn in my house so my opinion of them has dropped again. x.x) ants IRL so these ant silithids arent any different. <_<

Gah, I keep forgetting some. Chimaeras. I want to like them but I can just never stick. I really don't like that they're constantly slapping me in the face. X_X

And the regular cat models (non hunched, hunched is just fine for some reason) They're faces don't do much for me and they're heads seem too small. I much prefer the saber cats or hunched cats.

And damaged silithid. <_< It just grosses me out too much ^^;

And hopefully this is the last one... I like serpents, but I would really like to have one that isn't fanned out all the time.

Ghostcrawler is close to common, being effectively unkillable. I refused to tame SBs back in Wrath, just because I hated the idea of camping for a pet and the idea of a whole family of rares. Once I heard about GC on the PTR, I knew I'd be taming my first spirit beast in 4.0!

I do not like to use boars and worms, tried it couldn't do it. I will say I am a "rare" collector on my main hunter Shadowkatt. I have a full stable ....and yes most of those are spirit beasts. I love hunting down rares...camping them ect. I could care less if everyone and their dog has the same model of pet. Further more I have never ever put anyone down or Judged anyone who has "common" pets. My spirit pets have never hindered my ability as a hunter nor has my desire to collect rares. I use all of my stable, and yes its pretty much full. I rotate them through depending on what I'm doing. The only pet that stays on me at all times Is Lockheed (Nuramoc). I even use my blue madexx in dungeons on bosses where disarming them is convinent.

-Raptors. Or, rather, many raptors. Most of them are actually wicked intelligent and it's a little odd we can tame them like any other beast. They're too smart for that! If anything, taming one would be so incredibly situationally based that we'd need a new mob called "Injured and weak Raptor", the only tamable raptor around.

-Silithid. Lolwut? They're, uh, kind of… bad. I mean, just about all lore out there has Silithid labeled as "Dang nasty beasts" and they're the cause of a lot of problems. So we can just tame them and make them nice? Besides, they're basically a hive mind, splitting them off would be… bad.


-Shale Spiders. Just… what. How, exactly, are they anything at all like beasts? They're made out of rock and rock alone.

-Lava spiders. They're not alive. :-/ They're elementals. It's different.

-Skarr. Not a beast. He's made of metal.

-Karkin. See Skarr.

-Ghostly and normal Jade owls. They're made out of crystals, for crying out loud. >.<

-Olm. He's a ghost. That = undead.

-All diseased/ghostly pets, including most spirit beasts. They = undead.

-Core hounds… Somewhat. They're on the fence between "Elemental" and "Beast", though the Kurken is definitely a beast.

-Chromaggus. So not a beast. He's a dragonoid.

-Devilsaurs. There's no way a Devilsaur could be that tiny. :-/

-Demon dogs. They're demons.

Whoo, think that's it.

I love many of these pets! I'm not saying that I don't want them to be tamable, I'd cry if they were taken away. I'm just trying to think about it objectively.

Yeah. They're useless as pets and gorilla's have that annoying scratching butt. Plus their faces are uuuugly.

Anyone remember the days of the "gorilladin"? You didn't hear so much complaining about the butt scratching back then... XD

(and I'm not singling anyone out here - I'm not a fan of the butt scratching either, but just sayin that some if not a lot of attitudes would be different if we had more flexibility in our choice of pet abilities...)

Monkeys had their day in the spotlight when their blind didn't break on damage, too.

I distantly remember gorillas being really useful at one point, but their colors are so limited I've never really been interested in taming one. I see a ton of the white/blue one in dungeons now for some reason, at least on my rogue. I didn't even know they had a special ability anymore until just now. /shame

I've met plenty of dogs that aren't tame in the real world. And in the game the ones in Gilneas, for example, have gone feral and are definitely not tame. I wouldn't take the spell name "tame" too literally. It's just the name of a spell that encompasses you training a beast to do what you want it to.

Not quite. Dogs are considered a separate subspecies and have a common set of genetic traits that are not generally found in wolves, both physiological and mental. They can understand humans in a way that wolves don't seem to be able to even if they're raised from pups. Tens of thousands of years of selective evolution by us have made them more like us. They're no longer just tamed wolves.

I generally like nearly all of the pets in-game, but I can't say I've ever subscribed to the idea of "AMG RARE I MUST HAZ". If that's your thing, that's totally more than fine and I'm happy it brings you joy. It's just not for me, is all.

If it's a rare, I tame it because I either because I like the skin, but more importantly if it fits my character's demeanor. In this example, my main doesn't really like "dumb brute" animals and tends to value things with intelligence and speed to them. His main go-to pets are a warp stalker and a spiked raptor.

As for pets I don't like? Well, they're namely ones that have weird model and animation issues...

• Seagulls - I love seagulls, but the way they're rigged just looks so painfully unnatural when they fly around.
• Monkeys - These I do not like for a variety of reasons, even though I really do want to. Their model is poorly constructed, their animations are clunky, and that FACE of theirs. *shudders*. Plus, I have a weird aversion to taming primates...
• Gorillas - See Monkeys, but less about the animation and model and more about the aversion to pet primates. However, it's still a goal of mine to have a character that works with one some day.
• White Tickbird/Eagle - I adore the idea of one... but the pixelation on the model is just awful.
• Lynxes - Oh man, I want one so badly... But the pixelation and the coloring just look strange to me – which breaks my heart... I've wanted a lynx to work for so long, but alas.

The only exception I have to this way of thinking of mine is Broken Tooth, which is a grudge that stems back to Vanilla WoW. Sure, you'd see the odd King Bang or Swamp Stalker, but my dislike of this critter was because A) It was EVERYWHERE and B) That furry chainsaw would continuously mow down my cloth-wearing main without fail (like their hunters wanted). To this day, I still go out of my way to kill him if I see him spawned. If he gets a new model, then I might put my grudge to rest since it would go against my general policy to not kill rare skinned models.
