Re: Guardian Cub Tradable Pet
This might be the future of what Blizzard is doing...
Look at the AH on Diablo 3... you can either use gold to buy items or you can buy the items with real money. The kicker is the seller can "cash out" at any time and get real money from the item(s) he sold on the AH. According to Blizzard... they will use a third party site (probably PayPal or something) to send the cash to...
At some point either people will start staying home and making Diablo 3 a job, or people will figure out a way to "mess with" the AH and kill the economy.
I can't wait to see how Blizzard deals with the people who start griping because they somehow lost money or lost the item they had on the AH... it will be a good show.

And with the 24 hour CD from BoP to BoE, we won't see any in the AH until tomorrow.

Re: Guardian Cub Tradable Pet
I bought me one, but did not want to sell it. I don't agree with him being sellable either, btw. I would rather pay the $10 and get him on ALL my toons rather than pay $10 and get him on just one toon. I almost refused to buy him because of that. I'm glad I didn't, because he is ADORABLE! This is the cutest mini pet I've seen so far. His idle animations are the cutest damn things I've ever seen. Here he is rawring, as I call it:

Part of Dark Magics, lvl 25 Horde guild, casual, helpful, don't raid, mostly help people and hunt pets.
Part of Dynasty, lvl 25 Alliance guild, casual and hardcore (your choice, no one forces you to raid, but you can), very helpful
Come on over if interested (Runetotem US, Horde name Sarantha, Ally name Ellysetta or Valeraud)

Re: Guardian Cub Tradable Pet
I didn't buy the windrider cub, as much as I wanted to. I just couldn't see buying a stuffed toy for a mini pet...and this guy is adorable, and no stuffed toy required! I love how he flies alongside you and has the exact same flight animations as the mount. The wing trails coming from such a little thing is awesome. Blizzard outdid themselves with this pet!

Re: Guardian Cub Tradable Pet
Not worth selling. If you DO get one...just use it as mini pet. Its too cute to sell. On the horde AH on my server, people seem to think he's worth 30k. If I didn't buy him outright with my CC, I might pay like 3k for him at most to get him since he's so cute, but I wouldn't pay more than that. $10 isn't that much, really, and it beats paying 30k that people think they're going to get for the little guy.dragonaa wrote:i just cant belive how much ppl think they are worth on the ah
Also, in 3 weeks or so, he'll be down to 500g in the AH and people will be bitching about how they lost RL money because they bought the pet. Buy the pet for yourself, not to sell, and you'll have nothing to be disappointed over.

Re: Guardian Cub Tradable Pet
I think the in-game value SHOULD be around 3-4k, but it will either stay around 10k or drop drastically and end up being 500g-1k. Either way, people will bitch that they lost money and should be refunded. Its a cute pet that should be bought because its a cute pet, not because you could possibly make some gold off it.

Re: Guardian Cub Tradable Pet
The cub is cute and all. I won't be buying one. This isn't meant rudely so I hope no one takes it that way. If you disagree with it not being account wide then why still buy one??? Sounds almost hypocritical.
I have the wind ride cub and stuffed toy and both are more then worth it and extremely adorable. ALL my toons have the wind rider cub. I get something to cuddle. Win win for your money if you ask me. Spending $10 (when an account wide pet is only $15 more) for a mini pet on a single toon TO ME is pretty close to being a waste of money. I have four toons who are mini pet collectors. So to get this little cubby would cost me $40. That's ridiculous. At this point Blizzard is just money grubbing on this one.

Re: Guardian Cub Tradable Pet
I don't take offense. I may sound hypocritical, but I bought it cuz its cute. As you can see from the SS, I DID NOT sell it. I bought it for me. I just wish that ALL my toons could have it instead of just Sara, but if only Sara can, its still worth the price because its very detailed and really an awesome looking mini pet.
Also, for people NOT wanting it for themselves, its kind of a way for Blizzard to sell gold legally. The pet won't sell for a LOT in the end, but it will still sell for at least 500g-1k depending on if the server is saturated with the pets, so people will still manage to be able to "buy gold" through Blizzard. That sucks, but I do think it is a lot better than people buying gold from gold sellers. I don't buy gold, but if you think people DON'T, then thats silly. People buy gold. Lots of people. And Blizzard can't catch them all. This is a way that Blizzard can sell gold indirectly and perhaps keep a few people from buying from those gold sellers.

It just occurred to me that this would a cheaper way to get starter gold than transferring an alt, if re-rolling on a new server.

It would be, if you intend on selling the poor little critter. I have no idea what the deposit fee for the AH is though. I'm sure its not very high because Blizzard probably anticipated people wanting to do this.

Halfway there to sell wow gear on the Blizzard Store/some other form, despite what they keep protesting they will never do..It's like they keep testing the waters to see what people are willing to pay real money for. I guess time will tell.Pent wrote:This might be the future of what Blizzard is doing...

Re: Guardian Cub Tradable Pet
I like the idea. In all honesty, I'm relieved my alts won't be spammed with yet another minipet I didn't choose for them. I like my alts to have a certain signature pet and they don't need all these other pets. Teigan is my only collector and I buy the Blizz pets I buy for her. So, I'm good with it. Besides, this is one you can wrap up and surprise someone with rather than give them an entirely unsurprising code.

Re: Guardian Cub Tradable Pet
Well now that this has gone live I have to say I do like it. I don't have RL cash to pay for things like pixel pets but I do have gold. I have guildmates who have the cash but don't have gold. So I just arranged to buy from one of them. It's a win win for us.
