Re: Foxes and hounds!
Do you know it was, in fact, foxes? I have heard of them taking young chickens and such... But usually the missing pet has been taken by a coyote, a cougar (if there are any in your area) or even a neighbor's dog. Or deranged neighbor or neighborhood children. Have you seen them do it? Just seeing one doesn't mean that it was the guilty party. That aside, my condolences. It really hurts to lose animals you care about.

Re: Foxes and hounds!
Hey by looking at this video we, as humans, can literally tame foxes! That way there is no genocide or violence required, their now your new pets! But on that note, putting aside past hatreds might be required first.Ryai wrote:Look I can barely stand spiders, scorpions and a few other insects/aracnids myself outside of a few cases and creatures. But I wouldn't wish them all dead- and even tho I loathe some of these things irl I adore their wow counterparts.Firefrost wrote:I loathe, despise, deteste and generally wish to commit fox genocide. I cannot stand them.
Also btw. Ever seen the Domesticated silver foxes?

Re: Foxes and hounds!
Can we get off the fox thing and talk about the GAME THAT THIS THREAD WAS MADE FOR. Gezz this is what the PM systerm is for my god people. Make another thread if you so badly want to talk about it.
Sorry about that but it needed to be said. back on topic i think the foxes would be small pets/critters they just don't seem like the type of thing a hunter would tame unless it was a really big fox or something but i don't think thats going to happen.

Re: Foxes and hounds!
um... anyway. On the thread subject.
I can't wait to finally get new pet choices. I saw the new crabs on MMO site and wow so cute! The foxes I like but.. I really hope they have been put in the wolf family (with the nice howl buff). If they've put them in cunning oh jeez
The mastiffs are ok a little ugly but I'll be trying one definitely. I would have preferred a beagle isn't that a traditional hunter's dog?
ALSO (/cry) why no kangaroos or other marsupials in this game? There's nothing I would love more than a kangaroo with raptor claw/savage rend abilities.

You mean this one? *grin* Sorry, couldn't resist.cowmuflage wrote:Can we get off the fox thing and talk about the GAME THAT THIS THREAD WAS MADE FOR.
It's interesting trying to figure out what might be a critter/mini-pet and what might be a full-fledged beast. I had assumed I'd be able to tell based on polygon count, but that doesn't seem to be the case. (At least, I'm not willing to make any official guesses yet.)

Re: Foxes and hounds!
Most agreed. I'll keep digging and see what else I can find, so far looks like there is new crocs and a liter HEAP of new crabs as mentioned by Gozu.cowmuflage wrote:Can we get off the fox thing and talk about the GAME THAT THIS THREAD WAS MADE FOR. I actually did some looking around and compared models here and there, and my results tell me that the foxes are based off hyena models and the Hounds after the dark hounds that roam Tirisfal. Which makes me think, maybe the dark hounds will be tamable as well? But I could possibly see that they could combine the 4 into a single group of canines, though ferocious foxes doesn't seem to make sense, so the dogs could easily join the ranks of the wolves, where as the fox, agreeing with Gozu, would fit much better into the cunning tree.
And for fun:
New pet abilities!
Fox Step - Your pet vanishes instantly and reappears behind the target striking for extra damage when striking at its back.
Baleful Bark - Startles the target with a ferocious bark, lowing its attack power by X%, and movement and attack speed by X%

Re: Foxes and hounds!
Not to step on any toes here, but I'm rather hoping that foxes are kept as minipets; mostly because I'm of the opinion that they'd look ridiculous as they started getting massive at higher levels.

I agree with you Kryte, I'm not trying to be rude to anyone or crush any hopes. But a fox would be like a ferret or Racoon as a hunter pet....

And giant Tallstriders and Crabs don't look silly at all? There's also a massive parrot too, blizz has assuredly done stranger things than giant animals that were never meant to be so.

Well, as long as we get the foxes in some way or another, I'll be happy.

Re: Foxes and hounds!
I realize it really isn't a fox (or a mastiff for that matter) but there IS a wolf that has the same coloring as a red fox but is much more taller than a wolf (it's very unnatural looking imho). I found it in a kid's book about wolves I got waaay back when I was little. Here it is: It's called the Maned Wolf. http://mammals.suite101.com/article.cfm ... _the_world Maybe that's why these foxes are so tall? A little cross breeding within the Blizzard HQ to get a fox big enough for hunters? Didn't they say that they had been working on Cata since before WotLK?

Re: Foxes and hounds!
I really don't see any Maned wolf characteristics in the Blizzard foxes... They look like normal foxes.
Fox can have long legs.

Re: Foxes and hounds!
The maned foxes are indeed neat, but I've got to agree with celestial. Maned foxes look a bit more like wolves/hyena than foxes, and the Blizz model looks much more fox-like.
And that fox better run! That bird looks none too happy. One of them was probably trying to swipe the others food.

I think foxes should be Cunning and should have stealth, like kitties do.

Fox ability possibilities: (In my opinion
)
Trick: Directs all attacks from enemy on another target.
Rabies: Fox goes into a rabid fit and deal more damage.
Steal: Steals opponents weapon.
