It's a good thought. It was one of the first things I tried cause sometimes addons can cause issues but usually not with mechanics.

I just noticed something for the Voidwalkers after leveling one today. Voidwalkers have 'Threatening Presence' which, to reiterate the description, "Intimidates any target you attack, increasing threat generation."

It's a passive spell with no cooldown so its a permanent always active unless cancelled by the warlock, taunt. That's probably why Voidwalkers can hold aggro but hunter pets can't, they literally taunt freely without any effort or energy as long as it takes to kill or be killed by the mob they're harming.

Watching my Void kill things, he appears to use it every 2-3 auto attack hits

I tried killing Garnia on my hunter today. Every time I started off with misdirect to my pet. I then did nothing but autoshot and heal my pet, interrupt ruby bolts when I could and let the bear do the rest. He definitely had Growl on and was in Tenacity spec.

Every time, within about 10 secs, Garnia had switched to me and then came at me relentlessly. If I feigned death, he'd switch back to the bear for a couple of seconds, but then back to me again. I know healing causes some threat, but surely it's reasonable for a tenacity pet to out-threat it. This was just nuts. My autoshot can't be doing that much, surely.

I find sending the pet in, and then using Misdirection every time it's up seems to work for me. I've actually had my pet basically kill me, because it lost aggro and the mob suddenly comes after me and I'm not expecting it.. Really sucks specially when you get one shoted by some of them.

Seems we are not the only ones: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic ... 491?page=1

When I was on my best geared hunter, my blood elf, I found something curious happened to her as I geared her up...

She had a low gs, like, 486 I think it was? I was unable since mid-Cataclysm or something around that time from keeping mobs off me, but my troll hunter who was better geared at the time was fine. I drove Blood as fast as I could through Cata content to immediately get her into Pandaria and I was struggling periodically to keep her safe. I died, a lot. A lot.

5.1 content, I died, a lot.
5.2 content, I died, a lot, still.
5.3 content I truthfully haven't done anything >.>;;
5.4 content, I was dying or nearly dying a lot. Timeless Isle was absolutely HORRENDOUS.

But then... I started to do LFR again and in two days I managed to replace over half my entire gear. My weapon was the very first upgrade. This is from 5.2 raids so this is 2 patches behind. Somehow, I honestly have no idea, but I saw a very noticeable change. I can actually kill things and engage combat, throw everything I have at a target before my pet can growl, and the pet has ease getting the aggro when they do finally growl. I can go an entire fight without pulling aggro even if I put out more instant burst damage on it as my first offence to it than my pet could in the entire length of the fight.

I'm Marksman and I have genuinely been confused by this for the past few weeks after seeing people with GS way higher than mine which is about... 500 I think, is struggling.

Like, I don't even...

Well it's clear ilvl has nothing to do with the issue. It's the Growl itself but it varies on what mob has the problem.

This is weird, I haven't had any issues with growl except on Warbringers, and that was only after they changed those for pets. I have no trouble at all with the scouts, or anything on the timeless isle so far. I am BM, use a tank turtle on rares, and my Nanaki (red hyena-Ferocity) for everything else. And I hardly ever use MD. If I do use it, its usually as an opener move to pull my target back, or to get adds on my pet.

I don't know why so many other people are having aggro issues or pulling off their pets. So far I haven't encountered that problem...

Yea, but it's really bizzare how its bugging out. I was fighting Foreboding Flames and I had aggro the entire time I ever fought them which resulted in dying a lot because I'd run out of things to use to try and avoid getting blasted by one of their attacks. Even with the buff from the bonfires I was still usually either dying or literally just mere thousands if HP from dying D: I ran all the 5.2 LFR's, and immediately saw changes.

I was farming the same mob, the Foreboding Flames, using the same pet, my goat (in tenacity of course) which I feel is better than a stun/silencing pet because of the 50% cast time reduction goats have (tallstriders have it too I think, and foxes?). I was using the same general routine of starting with a poison sting, chimera shot, arcane shots, steady shot, chimera shot, arcane shots, etc. etc. in that order with a heal inbetween to make sure my pet wouldn't die, coupled with a quick silencing shot if my pet risked dying to the next attack, and I couldn't/can't still break aggro off him. But like two days prior I was getting my face eaten consistently. I don't get it D:

It is odd, definitely. On turtles? Frogs? I do just fine. The pirates or the adders? They're more interested in me than my pet because it suddenly forgot how to growl!

I've tested repeatedly on my farm. Nothing half as dangerous as isle of thunder or whatever, but if I pull out two of the critters, my pet will hold aggro on one, and only one, but not the other.

If I misdirect and multishot, it will not attract the 2nd critter.

MD and MS work perfectly fine in other circumstances. I've done a bunch of older raid and dungeon content, and the combo pulls all aggro to my pet. Even just regular questing Pandaland my pet easily holds aggro on multiple mobs.

But for some odd reason, SOME mobs seem to be immune to being multi-directed to your pet. And in my case, it's not elite or rare mobs. Just regular critters in my plants.

I have no idea about the pirates but I believe the adders are immune to taunts. I think the elder turtles and certain yaungol are too. No idea about the giants as the only time I engaged combat with one I died miserably and avoid them like the plague now xD

Warbringers are my issue atm. Some of them they are fine on but others its like ping pong with feign death >.> MD seems to do nothing to them too which is a pain.

But then earlier in the thread, others said they can kill adders just fine. They're not immune, if that's the case.
