Yes I enjoy flying and would like it back, but I still remain mostly indifferent. If we don't get flying for awhile then oh well. I'm not going to quit over it.

I just don't understand why it's such a huge issue? I get that people enjoy flying, and I get that it makes traveling faster. But flight paths are much more efficient in this expansion. And regardless, is traveling a bit slower really such a big deal that it'll get you to quit? I know for some people it's simply the last straw, but it still seems like such an insignificant issue.

People seem to get angry with me that I don't understand the outrage over this whole no flying business. But I just don't.

I'll be editing this post but google shows lots of things but the blue post where Blizzard said they regretted adding in flying was a looooong time ago back in WotLK. Also, Lupen, I don't get it either. If people wanna quit over it, imho...there's the door. *shrug* Other MMOs don't do flying so it's not like this is something that no mmo has done before...but people are acting like it is.

(GC's post about it back in Wrath. There's also an interview about it way back when that I'm trying to find. If someone else finds it, feel free to post it.)

Alternatively, from a flying mount, you fly over the gate, see some guy whose name is highlighted, land on top of him, kill him, and then fly away.
I can do that with the eng rockets, and also with the feather. Not a very good reason for something that takes you 20 minutes of your time each day. If they are going base the entire no flying on a single daily, then really don't think things through.. Which has been the recurring pattern this expansion.. It's implying anything either. It's same excuse that comes up over and over again. They don't want you to simply come down out of the sky and avoid a bunch of mobs... I can already do that now, without full flying. My wormhole sometimes drops me right above the pit.. Being an eng, I can simply use my glider and glider over to where I want to be, without worrying about fighting through all the mobs.

Also, depending on your class. You could either Stealth past the mobs, or camo past them.

They regretted flying back in Wrath, but then turned around and made a entire expansion based on flying. They even gave us old world flying, when they where against it for the longest of time. At the same time, they give us limited flying which directly goes against the entire reason for no flying!! Someone please explain to me, how this makes sense ? I'm at loss to the logic/thinking being this...

Those are limited compared to being unlimited with flying mounts and everyone has those mounts whereas most dont have things to help them fly. I didn't really until this expac and even with them...I don't use them cause they caused me more grief than help. I was better off doing stuff on foot. Even Stealthing past mobs isn't easy. Once you're caught, you're screwed in The Pit. Camo? Absolutely useless. Never could get it to work right for me.

Best explanation I got was from a friend/guildie of mine. He says "They just finally had the balls to say no and stick to their guns." which seems pretty accurate, really.

Then you must be really bad with the glider then.. Sorry to say.. but I have no issues with it.. Camo will work if you know how to use it.. Don't get too close to the mobs. It's camo, not stealth. It doesn't work the same. It simply drastically lowers your aggro zone. It does not make your immune.. I'm well aware it's not true flying, and this why I've labeled it "limited flying" It's a form of limited flight.

I don't think they truly hate flying.. I believe, they feel there is a time and place for it. For whatever reason, they feel WOD isn't it. If I'm wrong, about no flying for WOD, then I will admit to it.. However, as it stands. The current pattern, does strongly hint they will not allow it.

What I think in a nutshell.

Plus, thinking on it in a creative manner. By the time we'd levelled in Pandaria, Wrath and BC we knew what was in the skies. It was safer to fly as in wrath you had the Scourge on the ground. You had the demons in BC. Pandaria was jut peaceful, so it was safe to fly. Azeroth? Maybe not so much, but we know it's safe to fly.

Draenor? It's a whole new planet. It's a whole new world. It's a whole new timeline. Why would you fly in the skies, if you didn't know what was up there?

And look at this way, all hunters you out there. You've got aggro dumps. I would KILL for my paladin to have an aggro-dump or a stealth equivalent. But eh, I'm getting by I suppose by either running the hell away or slaughtering everything in my path.

...still looking forward to stealthing past everything on my rogue though...

By the way, the MMO Aion has flying, has had it since the beginning.
It has non-flying zones where you can however use a "glide" ability, and it has an entire zone where you really can't do anything without flying (even PvP fighting is done while flying).

A bit of palindromic wisdom:
"Step on no pets!"
Casual player.. don't raid, don't PvP. Suffer from extreme altitis
I love pets - combat or non.

I love the Hunter class, it's my favorite class in the game. Blizzard can do whatever to the class, and I will still play my hunter. You don't realize how good hunters have it, till you play another class.

Maybe they could put some stuff in the sky to make it dangerous? Mobs, anti-aircraft guns, storms, etc...might be interesting to have like extreme weather up there that grounds you or something.

I love not being able to fly. When I see a rare on a mountain and can't seem to get to it, I know it's just because I haven't found the right path yet. I love how I'm able to really see all the scenery they've worked on. Let's face it, when we fly, we all just skim over the tree tops. Well, many of us probably do (I do). You never even see what's underneath.

I'm having a great time being grounded. I feel like I'm really experiencing the expansion as it was meant to be experienced, and while flying is convenient, it was never something I'd base my sub around.

Also, in Aion, it wasn't quite the same as in WoW. I never made it far enough to get the zones where you fly all the time, but in the zones where that wasn't the case.....well, frankly the gliding aspect sucked unless you were gliding downhill, and you had a timer on your flying. If you did choose to fly up in the sky, you had a limited amount of time. Take too long, and your flying expires aaaaand SPLAT. Also, that game was specifically advertised from the beginning as an MMO with flying. WoW wasn't, it was added in later, so I don't feel like it's fair to compare the two because they are different.

Honestly, they'll probably add flying in Draenor at a later time. People like me who have work and school still haven't gotten level 100 yet, so please don't assume that because a lot of people have 100s and are raid-ready and have seen every zone, that everyone is in that same boat. Give it another patch or two. :) Also, I don't spend all my time in the garrison. I hearth there to work on my missions and what-not, and I log off there, but other than that, I'm out in the world.

Flying is nice, fun and makes things really easy to get to/accomplish. I've enjoyed it since it was added to the game, but I have also enjoyed riding ground mounts around the world(s) and finding alternative routes and enjoying the beautiful scenery that gets bypassed while flying. So for me, the exclusion of flying in this expansion hasn't been an issue for me at all. I've been finding exploration to be a lot more fun when I can't simple fly up and over something. Viewing the surroundings and noting the winding paths and then working my way to an objective is far more enjoyable and rewarding (to me) then if I'd simple flown up and landed there.
I've also gotten very good at timing my disengage to survive a miss-step or when I wanted to take a short-cut off that mountain top, lol.

I wonder if people are missing the point of a "game" and that is to enjoy Playing the game. For me, a game that has such an immersive world like this one does, it seems a waste to just be sitting in <insert city/garrison here> rather then be out enjoying the limitless experiences that it has to offer. But if that's what people enjoy paying a sub to do then /shrug. Me, I pay a sub to actively play a game.

That guy who said he does sit in his also said he had the auctioneer. That thing requires you to get 5 or 6 parts that all have lower drop rates than the Baron's mount in Stratholme. He certainly didn't sit around in his garrison to get them. I would like flying even in the Garrison. Not to get around it of course, but to able to fly from there to anywhere I wanted and also to land in it when coming back.

If we never get flying in this expac and they even suggest that all future content won't have it either, that's when I'd be very likely to hang it up.

Enjoying the scenery when grounded is really a moot point after you've seen it all. It then becomes increasingly tedious to have to slowly work your way through it again and again. Not having it while leveling was okay and nothing new. We need it back now though ASAP. You could say that WoD was presented as an expansion having flight when they offered a FLYING mount as an incentive to get the deluxe editions. As far as I'm concerned, not having it is false advertising. The Grinning Skyreaver can also fly by the way even though it is one of the few flyers that looks good on the ground.
