This feels like a bandaid.

To be fair, the person who made these changes so that we could get old looks is not the person who made the strange decision to swap all the old bears to the new model. He was just trying to help us out and I really appreciate that he did I will never understand the thought process behind the original swap, especially when a number of updated models that DO look like the originals have not been swapped in, but it happened anyway. Thankfully "Shem" gave us an avenue for retaining the old looks.

Unfortunately, I'm not on the beta. Otherwise I'd be hunting day and night (or, considering I'm on a EU server, 'evening and morning' because of the time difference) for new stuff.

..... mostly new minipets, admittedly. Because, minipets.

BUT! I can't help but hope that they brought back the other skins. I'd have to hope they might have at least brought back that poor missing rare; if nothing else, he'd be in good company, after being forgotten for so many years by everyone but a dedicated few obsessives.

One could definitely hope that the old models (non rare) pop up somewhere as a rare however I'm about 85% certain that won't happen. For some crazy reason WoWHead seems to be very up to date lately and I just checked the bears again last night (I don't have beta access either ) all the non rares show with having the new model.
Granted there is still time but at this point I really doubt it.

Already trying to acclimate myself to my diseased black bear looking VERY different.

Yeah, but all the *rares* show up as the new models as well, and we've already proven they're not all accurate.

EDIT: Crap. I stand corrected; I just checked a couple of them and it looks like Wowhead has finally updated models. Although I did notice that if you check the list of bears, they show all the models in the list when you click 'tameable'. Including a few names that weren't there before.

If I'm looking at this correctly, it looks like Ol Muddle will have the same skin as Deathclaw has on live right now. It will require re-taming for the look, but at least there's an option.

I found one of the bears linked above: Grimrot. He is located in Felwood exactly where I am located on the map. He apparently scales to whatever Lvl you are at. When I found him, he was Lvl 106

Got an update! It looks like both Grimrots are in the same exact spot, but not at the same time. During the day, the light grey Grimrot I posted is spawned. During the night, the rotted version spawns! Quite something

This is absolutely amazing!!!! What a fantastic and unique trait, I love it. I'm thrilled to know my diseased black bear appearance will still be in the game, and what a perfect rare to have it on. :')

Yeah ok... thats pretty fricken awesome.
It sort of reminds me of the odd, yet wonderful nuances you'd find occasionally back in vanilla, where terrific little quirks were added to things just because.

He's almost like cursed "Pirate of the Caribbean"
