It depends, really. You've got some really great series out there. But lately, they've been running out of ideas and it really shows. I was already losing interest in Marvel, then the Ultimate universe hit and I was just done.
Re: Yogi Bear - Not Appropriate?
*nod* The bits that came closest to being interesting were actually the interactions between Superman and Batman. Very different people who really didn't always trust each other all that much but who really kind of wanted to be friends ... if only because there wasn't anyone else who might understand them. Except that they really didn't understand each other either.Palladiamorsdeus wrote:That's kind of a problem with DC characters in general though, Mania. Superman was always pretty much a cardboard character, and he was one of their flagships. Batman was probably the most fleshed out, but that wasn't saying a ton. They were probably better done then the cartoon, tho'.
Anyway, that was just a little too thin for my actual enjoyment of the whole.
Re: paper comics - or graphic novels, if you prefer ... I quite enjoyed the Sandman stuff written by Neil Gaiman. Dream is .. eh ... but Death is wonderful and I adore Delirium and Desire. But in terms of story it's so inefficient. Waiting a month for a comic I can read in less than 15 minutes? I don't think so. Or wait until the run is over and buy a stack of expensive graphic novels that take me less than a day? So that's something I only do occasionally.
I did, however, practically live in a comic store for a year or two back in college (since one of our polyamorous group ran the store and another would have literally lived there if he could have). So I can sometimes fake my way through comic conversations reasonably well.
And of course these days it's all about web comics anyway. Didn't I see someone here the other day with a Sinfest avatar? Egads, I love Sinfest.

It is interesting that the Turtles franchise did the live action movies while the cartoon was still on the air. I will argue with anyone that Turtles 2: Secret of the Ooze is the best cartoon-to-live-action movie ever.

Weird...I didn't' notice anything dirty either. Must have been because there were no blood elves involved.

I like Biker Mice too! I listen to the man on the radio who won them a Emmy once (Jim Ward). He's funny and a good impresionist (mispell)

I actually enjoy the Batman and Superman interaction, and that's saying a lot. They both have such a different style that it's a lot of fun to see that contrast. It isn't that Superman isn't smart, he just doesn't need to use his intelligence much. Meanwhile Batman has nothing BUT his intelligence and a ton of money backing him up. So while Superman can just plow through whatever, Batman often has to use a lot more....devious tactics. And of course Sup often disapproves. *Laughs*
I'm actually not a huge fan of manga, but I used to eat comics up. I tried getting into manga, but often found then to dark in contrast with the anime. The exception to this rule would be Chrono Crusade, where the manga actually featured a much better ending then the anime. It's pretty rare for me to really enjoy an "Everyone dies" style ending, though Seven Samurai is probably exempt from this due to sheer awesome.
Also, the first Turtles movie was my favorite, then the third. The second one was just okay to me.
Okay! Geek time over!
